That's sweet, Aaron. Gotta put a little rum bottle and a big hammer between the seats. You know- controls get stuck!

Hey I promised to start Saturday but life got in the way. I'm pretty set with what I need except for a couple of GB's to finish first.

You're a good bunch of people, that's for sure!

Hey thanks all. I do try. Sean most people just look at my work with the monitor off. Easier to lie about it that way, Laugh [(-D] First thing I ever made on the public forum was the Fonderie Minature 1/48 Halifax. Took like 3 months of work. They are killer kits! You get one of those made and you feel like you have done something. Met most of this motley crew on that thread. Pirate [oX)] Really made me realize how much this forum can advance your skills from the advice and encouragement of others. Really great folks here. ( Even Nam) Make a Toast [#toast]

Gonna get some coffee and get back at it! Thumbs Up [tup]

Fab work there locomotive breath!

IP popped nicely! Good work! Don't you love those skinny belts?

Don't bust on me for fuzzy pics though! I didn't teach you that!

It may sound as though the wing and fuse joins are wicked. I don't mean that. I'm just picky and found that much dry-fitting and eyeballing really pay off!

I don't mind gap-filling, part of the hobby! I just want to be able to choose how much!Laugh [(-D]

A brothel not a bordello, Make a Toast [#toast] I forgot all about the time change and was there an hour early? Nam was there 2 hours early but was asleep under a tree. Mumbleing something about ten pins and thunder under a clear sky.

Still working away. I now have green and gray blue fingers. Finished up the pit and IP. So far so good. Prepainting and test fitting the larger parts. Nam has be a little gunshy with the fit issues. Mine seem to be going pretty well and are much closer. Maybe because it was an intial run and the molds were a bit newer? I dunno? Models are that way. It was listed as a Pro Modeler kit so perhaps there was more attention to quality control. I do like the details. Classic Monogram with just enough detail molded in to look good.  I think they were way ahead of their time in including smaller details that really make a kit jump out. I am probably slanted as they are nostalgic to me but before the age of the Tamigawas they were really some of the better kits! Still being built today as favorites!  That is your commercial for today....

Just your basic techniques. With your washes and such. Not hard at all.

The IP was a little more in depth but not much. Again a coat of Tamiya white folowwed by a coat of future then sprayed Tamiya semi gloss black. Allowed for about 30 min drying time in my window fan. Some careful picking and scratching brings out white details where and how I want them. Add a little green , red and yellow for color and finally with a dot brush put a tiny drop of future in each dial face. When it drys it gives a behind glass look for the smaller scale stuff. Need a light filter to get closer but hopefully you can see this OOB IP and some detail you can get with just a little loving.

If you really wanna go nuts you can add little wires with white glue knobs in the right places to add intrest. I am trying to keep it simple on the first one as I am doing 2? Tongue [:P]

Cheers All! Make a Toast [#toast]

BTW Sean: With the record snowfall in the NW.....all I hear about is Seattle/Spokane. What has your snow been like?

Lots of it ! I have shoveled off my carport (Truckport - Dodge Ram is under it) twice in the last 10 days. The first time there was 30" of snow and the second time the depth was 26"  I dont mind the shoveling snow, keeps that 40 something gut away. There has been a lot of roof's collapsing due to the weight. Lots of places of business in Spokane has had that happen. Hope the hobby shop guys are keeping their roof cleared. I am farther North of Spokane close to  the BC Border, most people here have been shoveling their roofs as we have had more snow.

yep that would be me, Picture was taken doing Spring Chores (loafing at the time) up on my Dads  place in Colorado.  Retirement has been good, I enjoy all the free time to do whatever. Spend most of the Summer out and about, but when the kids are back in School  I spend my time at the workbench messing with kits.

Bondo - the plan is to build the 1/72 with Coast Guard markings (Yellow WIngs). Even though I am a old Navy Brat I have the liking to the CG. Me Dad spied me Mum at Cape Hatteras so all of that half of my relation is/was CG.

PhotobucketThe decals are old (ESCI) and not very accurate, but is what I have to work with.

How is your 1/72 Airfix PBY coming along ? I really have a foundness for the old Airfix kits Thumbs Up [tup]

UPDATE:

OK, that didn't take long, I didn't even finish my 2nd cup of joe. Smile [:)]

Looks like Summit was the lucky winner!  Congratulations! I can't wait to see that Coast Guard PBY.  Cool [8D]

 ---------------------------------

Any of you guys want to build a yellow wing PBY?

I picked up some decals in a deal and have an extra Aeromaster 1/48 Flying Cats Pt. III decal sheet that I'd be happy to donate it to the cause (for free). There are two conditions to accepting the sheet: 1) You have to build the aircraft for this Group Build, and 2) you have to build one of the three yellow wing aircraft on the sheet. 3) Not a requirement, but it would be nice if you shared the decals on the sheet that you didn't use with someone else on the GB.

If you want to build one, send me a PM. 1st come, 1st served.  Smile [:)]

Hi Aaron! Go to work!

Thanks so much Frank for fixing his pic posting issue!  At least I had PBY parts top of my list Sean? Seems he is working on a fighter escort for his. Yellow wings are for neutality colors Nam not cuz you held your ale for too long!

Ditto on Bondo's comment good sir! Sean that is coming along nicely! So small. Doing the 1/48 IP is enough to give me shivers but that looks tiny! Must have good eyes and much patience!

Time for bed then more PBY!  Like Nam sez....," EEEE YaHHHHHH!!!!!!" ( I think he says that more because he missed the comode than for motivation though) Poor Barney Yuck [yuck]

Bad lighting Ha! The other stuff was in good focus! You are just hard headed! Must be why I like ya!

Here is a quick example showing undesired background.

and the edit. Panel isn't done but you can see the details coming out which is better than Black and silver as in the directions!

CN is a liberal tv news channel.....I live in CT!

Most of my pic troubles are bad eyesight related......and bad lighting choices. That is a damned big wing.....wasn't set up for a photo shoot.

I thought when I mailed that bra away to that addy, I would hear no more.

I checked out yer pics imn My e-mail Nam!  Makes me feel that I have ale goggles on myself!  However the Phone Numbers under yer glasses are quite clear so I am calling them all up for something to do! Shock [:O]

I think picture wise you will have more luck if you try not to get as close. Take the picture far enough back where it is in focus and then crop out things like your jewelry and pink bloomers with a simple editing program that should be an option in your Operating system.

Hello? Yes I am calling on behalf of a Mr David Namrednef! It seems that your wife has left her bra in his residence yet again.  He was wondering if you could stop by and pick it up. The address sure?  It is Nightmare on Elm Street, New England CN!

One down 4 to go!

I see your point about the  mismatched wings though. I'll compare mine tomorrow!
