I have to go with Betty!Tongue [:P] I have a DVD of 'A yank in the RAF' and I was just mesmerized by her beauty in it. I can see why she was one of th emost popular pin-ups ever. Course if Betyy is busy I wouldn't knock Rita back!

The mooring situation with the PBY would naturally change between the flying boat versus the amphibian. Blend it as you wish.

Nice work and refs Nick!

Need to update the front page

Those are truly excellent photos. A mooring cleat. Best ,friend. I want to apologize to sfmac  and maybe clarify a post I made last nite, to wit this forum should be about research- didn't mean to be negative but this is a perfect example.

I agree the pics are top notch! Very useful indeed.

Still looking for why I am being apologized too ? Whistling [:-^] Whatever it was it must not be too bad as I didn't get the special dinner or wine opened for me.... Pirate [oX)]

I wasn't very clear on my question as it was. I was more asking about the Monogram Models themselves. I have that old dust covered PBY I am cleaning up and repairing ( Original release)and the two newer releases with the landing gear. I was just wondering if the model had more done to it aside from cutting out wheel wells and adding the landing gear stuff. No real current reviews that compare them.  Reason I ask is I like that Bismark Hunter scheme. May consider buying another to attempt a conversion if it not be too complex. I don't see a rerelease of the other type coming anytime soon if ever.

Speaking of research our BVD has been doing a bang up job of answering those PBY questions so who needs Wiki? Mischief [:-,]Make a Toast [#toast]

I plan on starting mine around the 1st of the year. Then I'll really be asking crazy stuff!  Like when exactly did that famous Rita Hayworth picture come out?  Or am I thinking Betty Grabel?

Accurate pin-ups are important! Especially with Navy Planes!

I dunno I'd take Rita over Brittney Spears any time!

Nice work MKelley. Nice to see some progress. Keep pouring in those bullets mate, you'll need all you can get!!

I thought I'd mention a couple of (very) small ways to enhance the 1/48 Revellogram kit.

They concern the sea anchor cables and stowage. See below:
The heavily cast rope on the bow is the 'pendant' cable. It seems common to remove this detail as it's not that realistic and is easy to replace with something more to scale. Where the cable enters the Stowing Compartment (top of cable) the kit has a block cast. This block should also be removed and a hole drilled to pass the cable into. Compare these pics:
You can see here that the Pendant Cable passes into the Stowage compartment in a 'flush' kind of way, for want of a better description:

The other thing to note is the Mooring Post. After examining all my pics, I have found it was not present on all Catalinas, but seems more common on flying boats (PBY-5, P2B2) than on amphibians (PBY-5A). I do have pics of -5As with mooring posts though. Your choice on whether or not to add it, though it's not at all difficult to do so.

The the b&w pics are courtesy of the site Thom mentioned:
http://www.mechanicalrenaissance.com/Albums/catalina_pby_album_2/index.htm
Many thanks Thom, there is a fantastic resource there for those with the patience to sift through it.

Here is progress photo on my Catalina. I decided to work on the wings and such before tackling the cockpit. The beast is going to be good sized, that is a foot long ruler sitting on the main wing.

So far things are going well no major fit problems, as you can see I have added weight to keep her off her tail. I think that I may have to add more yet. Oh by the way those are .40 caliber bullets that I use for weight. They are relatively small and heavy so they work pretty well. Easier to glue in than a car load of BBs or sinkers.

See wiki- yes there are.

It would seem that a thorough go thru is on the boards. I strongly suspect that the re-released 1/48 is based on one a/c on the ramp somewhere. As is the Academy 1/72 I spent $30 for.

This GB needs to be abt research, fellas.

I redesigned a little bit of Hamilton Field.

Just out of curiosity was there any difference betwwen the PBY-5 aside from the landing gear?

I guess what I am asking is the earlier dusty bird I showed with out wheels compared to this new rereleased kit?

Okay, gents, I will not be participating in this GB.  I really just don't have the space for it when completed.  I put the kit along with the fire bomber decals up for sale on Hyperscale if anyone wants a look.  I think I'll just stick to my WWII fighters.  So with that, please remove me from this build.  Thanks, Chris

Bill ? Let me get that right? You took a girl to prom and it was such a horrible experience for her she married another woman? Well allrighty then! Not sure what softball had to do with it unless she used the bat on ya! Sounds like Charlie Brown and Peppermint Patty to me,  I bet you picked her up wearing yer kilt. Didn't ya!. Nam had computer fluxes again but is Ok! Think he has it worked out if work leaves him be. He had me worried cuz no note you know.

OK so I was the guy in 5th grade where they chose up the softball teams, the captain goes: "I get Mary, you get Bill". Turned out I took her to the prom and I'm now friends with her and her wife. Whatever.

Whats up Nam? I was hopin' we'd talk soon. Are you ok? Can someone pass me the note? Best, Bill
