Thanks for the info.

I've used Int Blue on some Star Wars Props in the past.

That's great looking Aaron.

One small piece of criticism: there's a pretty prominent seam visible forward of the cockpit.

I better get my model up and running soon. You've set the bar, and it's high.

Hey thanks again everyone.  Bill that was my issue as my pic on the nose was very distorted.

I guessed on it and probably got it wrong. If we are talking about the same seam on the nose ahead of the turret.  Also was questionable about the color as the door if it was even there looks to be the hull color. In the absence of a good pic of the bkue goose I just went with the kit instructions. ACK ! Easy fix if it shouldn't be there or the color is off.

Looking to see yours finished soon too MKelly! and Sean!  I think the poor BVD has been hornswaggled!  Bondo did you take him watersking on a submarine again? Make a Toast [#toast]Pirate [oX)]

OT - Aaron , I pulled off from the back of the top shelf. Lots of small parts still in a zip ~lock baggie . Pilot is less one rudder pedal he will only be able to go in circles , or get real good using his flaps. You do know you were one of the first guys who spoke up and saved this from the trashX-2 The shadow helps hide the repair of re ~ attaching the wing Clown [:o)]

Wow Sean! I am glad to see it back on your bench! You have so much work in it already and it looks really cool! Stick a pilot in there aqnd you'd never see the rudder pedal! LOL!  You got back on that Corsair horse much faster than I had anticipated with all your other builds going!  Glad to see you aren't letting it get the best of you!  If you had tossed it I think Frank woulda been digging in the landfill with Charlene!  Party time! Thumbs Up [tup]Party [party]

Wow! Fabulous work Aaron! Aside from the obvious kudos above, let me congratulate you on your first place finish! Your build seemed to come out of nowhere! Great job!

Not mentioned were the awesome photos! Really nice! (Prolly should've had Frankie blowing on the props for the in-flight pics, though!)Laugh [(-D] But they are super pics!

Sean! Nothing is really OT here! Love that color on the F4U!

The BVD is most definitely moving at the end of the month! He's been packing things for 2 solid days.....bench is looking very nakedBoohoo [BH], but stash, tools and paints are all safely boxed and I'll be dismantling the bench during the week. The PC will stay hooked up 'til the last minute. I should be off-line for less than a day.

I'll have over 900 sq. ft. of (heated) living space to myself, full kitchen facilities and laundry. It is the developed basement of a ranch with two entrances. Just going to have to add another bathroom over the next few months. No biggie.

Life will be much better!

All right the BVD! Hisself be commenting! Thank ye kindly ol" World record wedgie holder! Glad to hear things are looking up in your living arrangements!  Barney and Cubby going along as well?  I hope so as they can get ya paper trained!

Keep us informed on the events of the day so I do not worry about ye!

I still Owe ye another I have not forgotten!  Need to decide on the type and such. Gonna try to add a bit more gadgets this time!  Was looking at the Bismark chaser but since Lewbud has that represented I was thinking something along the lines of FAA?  Did any serve in the FAA or were they all RAF and Coastal Command?  Probably a bad time to ask but has anyone a ref pic on these foriegn flown birds?  I found a really really cool old book with many pics of WWII USMC aircraft I had not seen. One of a PBY at Guadalcanal. Hard to tell but it looks almost to be a solid color and still has the Deicing exhaust add ons on it after most had been removed.

Thanka a bunch for those cool photos Eric!  Yep no seam!  Also a much better view on weathering spots and the Stars. Look how large they are. Very big compared to what was provided in the PM kit.  Looks like something that would be on a B-17 size wise.  Even the nose stars are significantly larger.  Gotta love that blue sea though!

Thanks Aaron, for the thoughts, I think!Laugh [(-D]

Sadly, at this point it is unsure if Middies Barney and Cubbie will be joining me permanently. Very sad. But the landlady has cats and there is the poop patrol aspect to be considered. As it stands, I should be able to have them over on weekends where I can watch them closely. I am heartbroken, but we'll see.

Sorry about the PBY refs, but all my print material is packed! I believe there were PBY's sent to Britain under Lend-Lease. Check that GB!

Here's a list I found, whether or not it is accurate I cannot say. PBY is there. Now FYI I found Whitley's there too, and being the cheap individual that I am decided to build one for the FAA, further research suggests that they were Merlin parts sources! Not much there for a model.

Nam- That breaks my heart that Barney and Cubbie may not be able to move with you permanently.  I will most definately keep my fingers crossed in hopes that the situation changes and they can move in with you.  Hopefully, this move will all that you hope for and your quality of life improves.  Hang in there buddy, it will get better soon! Approve [^]

Sign - Ditto [#ditto] All the best Nam! I know what it's like, we have two cats that I had to leave behind with the ex, but thankful that they can visit me. Saw them the other day and one of them came running up to me with tail straight up! So they obviously miss me, as I do them.

Aaron Great job on the build, the bird looks awesome really like the torpedos nice touch there. The pics look very good as well thanks for sharing.

BVD Moves are never pleasent and the winter does not help especially this year in CT, also I am sorry to hear that Barney and Cubbie will not be with you I know how that can be on both a child and a pet front. I really hope all works out for you.

Cheers,

Thom

Thanks for the kind thoughts about the Middies! I think I can work it out over the next few months....when the snow melts (right Thom?) There is much involved, but I am resourceful!

Moving the w/e of the 31st.

Last evening Barney was in his bed watching me pack things and kept looking at me from beneath one brow....like he was saying...."What the EFF are YOU up to, Dave?"

It should work out eventually.

Thanks again for the wishes!

BVD I do not think the snow is going to melt for a good long while yet Banged Head [banghead] I think I am going to join the Olympic snow shoveling team Propeller [8-] since it is the only winter sport I do..

Hay Guy's glad you like the pix.

Dave, Sorry to hear about the move but if it's more breathing space than it's for the better.

HOLD FAST my friend.

Skimming through the Osprey books there are a few pix of the Torpedo brackets under wing.

In both Atlantic and Pacific books.

Thought I had the site marked but can't find it at the moment but there is a site that has profiles of diffirent planes and the PBY section has some from Norway, Russa and a few other places.

The Osprey Atlantic Theater has a Free French in Morocco.

As an added FYI to all those in Cali, I was at the dreaded getto hell known as Wally World (Walmart) today and found a LARGE selection for fishing weights in all kinds of sizes and shapes.

Some would even pass for ordinance (shells)

Alrighty.

Here are the 2 Academy 1/72 scales I am working on.

One a 5A (Black) the other a 5 modified to a 5A (Grey)

I am smoothing out the insides that will attempt to do some ribbing and some of the interior areas since I opened the doors from the cockpit and tail area.

The Radio/Navigation room can be seen through the top window anyway so I'm not sure why it's not included in these and the 1/48 scale.

You'll notice I have cut off the flaps on the Grey one.

I am "attempting" to give it a sense of movement since it will finally be displayed in flight going against WWI Albatros DIII, depicted in the novel in pic #2.

Well that's the plan anyway.Tongue [:P]

The messy looking orange and white thing is the new wheel well so the wheels have something to sit in.

For Sale signs are a good cheap source for styrene.

I think the PE set has detail pieces for this area, not that it will be seen.Whistling [:-^]
