Great choice Smitty!

I am pulling my Super Bug from GB because this type A/C have no Mig Kills and I'll need to find another kit for an AC that got a mig kill. I did the F-4J Phantom II "Showtime 100" last time. I am going to have a hard time deciding what plane I'll do now.

Has a searchable database of kills from all over the world and should help out matching what you have in the stash with a MiG killer.

I may end up doing another for this, possibly an IRIAF F-4E with a confirmed MiG kill in 1988 or the A-1H Skyraider with the MiG-17 kill and keep with the "props kill jets" theme.  Then again there's always the Israeli F-15C with it's possibilities, or the Saudi F-15C from Desert Storm...the possiblities are literally endless.

I really want to do an American Mig Killer, so my first 2 choices are either an F-15C or an F/A-18C. I am really leaning toward doing the F/A-18C VFA-81 from ODS. Finding decals for this bug will be a problem.

Rand,

Put me in for the 1/72 Trumpeter Sea Fury FB.11, markings of 802 Sqn. The Trumpeter kit at least has the markings for the right plane that downed the MiG-15 in 1952.

Good Morning,

Smitty, I did a bit of research and YES, the Sea Fury does count.. it has a comfirmed kill over a Mig-15 in Korea and also the Skyraider accounted for a Mig kill during Viet Nam.

Lew, Air to Ground attack aircraft do count since a few do have comfirmed kills over Mig's (see above)

Mike, The F-86 is a great choice and as far as I know many Korean F-86 jockeys did get kills over Migs.

I will be posting the GB badges here later. No need to wait until you complete a build to get one. Grab one and let everyone know your participating in this GB.

We are off to a great start and and I decided this GB will officially begin Saturday, November 1st and will end next year November 30th. This should allow time to get materials and allow others to join us. Most of all guys have fun, share info and dont hesitate to ask for help.

WELCOME ABOARD!

Good day

I am new to group builds but would like to join, does a SAAF Korean F-86 sabre count for this build?

Is this air to air only or air to ground as well?

Recently I purchased a my first Hobby Boss kit. A 1/48 scale Dasault Mirage IIIC.

It doesn't come with Israeli markings, but if I can find some I'd like to give it a go for the GB since the IAF clobbered many Migs with this type.

That should help you narrow it down, Trexx.  Additionally, look at http://www.isradecal.com/ for the markings, etc.

I'm looking at joining this, but would like to clarify one thing.  Does a Sea Fury classify as "modern combat aircraft"?  Or an A-1H Skyraider?  If not, I've got a myriad of other choices for this.

Trexx,

The only real valid rule here is that the model be of a modern combat or attack aircraft that has a confirmed Mig Kill. I beleive Zotz Decals makes decals for Isreali Mig Killers check them out. Be glad to have ya aboard. Let me know.

Here we go!!

Rules are as before with the exception that all Mig Killers from all countries are allowed.

Modern Combat Aircraft only, NO LIMITS on aftermarket products, any scale aircraft model. WWII Combat Aircraft used in the Korean War are allowed.

Participants may not build same type aircraft with identical markings; example... two F-4J's built as Showtime 100 will not be allowed. Cross-over's from other GB are allowed but aircraft presented must be a MIG Killer.

Korean war to present day fighters and attack aircraft that have comfirmed Mig kills.

Mig kill markings are optional and only need to present the aircraft as it appeared when it got a MIG kill.
