Looks like Dupes' fate is sealed... this should be fun. Have 2 people built the same kit in any of the previous GB's?

Good question.  I'd have to go back and look, but I don't think so.  At least not for an initial build.  Some people who finished fast may have done a double when they hit their second (or in some cases 3rd and 4th) kit.  Don't take my word on that though...  I could be talkin' out my butt.

One thing that is certain - I know there has never been two people building the same JUMBO kits like what you and dupes are lookin' at...

Oh yes it certainly is... nothings changing the outcome of this one...

Speaking of dupes, anyone seen hide nor hair of him in the last couple of days?  Maybe he is off 'celebrating' the holidays with his new 'lady-friend' Whistling [:-^]Angel [angel]

I guess I will let you know about my AH-1W: I've got 2 kits, so I think I may do a side-by-side build if that's OK with the rule makers? I have a Verlinden update set for one of them and a good copy of the same set for several pieces of the other one. I also have the excellent Two Bobs "Whiskeys in the Mix" decals, which is the reason that I have 2 kits. I wouldn't want all those great decals to go to waste, now would I? I thought about getting the Cobra Co. NTS upgrade, but with their shop shut down and the set hard to come by, I may just try to scratchbuild the differences if I can find good reference.

acmodeler - we'll definitely have to compare notes along the way! I think it's pretty cool we've got the same monster to tackle. I'm also going with some decals from the "Whiskeys In The Mix" sheet Twobobs put out, going with one of the two gray snake-sided options...thought I had a scan laying around, but it appears I deleted it. Did manage to find a source for the CC resin set, so it looks like I had better sharpen up the razor saw and get ready to start sawing off a LOT of plastic! Taped Shut [XX]

Sweet Hind! Looks like it is going to be awesome. Cool [8D]

I voted for the tie-breakers as well.

Looks like I better break out the Pennsylvania. This will be my first ship build and should be a good workout for the eyes. It is a little thing at 1/700. Seems to be at the opposite end of the scale list compared to other people's builds.

Boyd, I'm thinking that's this years armor tradeoff.  We have a lot more helo kits being built!  And at least three of them are in 1/35 scale if I'm not mistaken?  Wow.

Yes, I know, technically they are aircraft.  But still....Big Smile [:D]

Building Now:

1/48 Academy Bf-109G6 - 100%

1/48 Tamiya F4U-1A - 5%

Upcoming:

1/48 Revell F-14D

My Hokum kit is suprisingly big for 1/48 scale.  I always thought the KA-50 was a small aircraft, but it's about 1.5 times the size of a mustang.  That Hind looks like an awesome kit!

Was away for 3 days at work and only now catching up to find I am tied. I just voted again and I think I am still too close to call. Dont make me build both. Do we have a vote deadline for round two.

The parts are out of the box and have all been given a soapy water wash to remove any mould release oils etc. I've pretty much worked out the paint I need to order. I have a question though - to those who know about US navy aircraft from WW2. The 'Navy Blue' on the top of SBDs, F6Fs etc - is it gloss or matt??

I'm not sure, but I think it's semi-gloss.

Cheers,

Thanks Azgaron...I was just tryimg to match up the navy blue for the 1/700 tiny aircraft. Everything else is matched up now and ordered. Once they arrive then all I have to do is assemble the approx 520 parts to loosley resemble the Essex!

Hey Paul, the blue was originally gloss blue but it tended to fade fast, so any way you like it would work. I just finished my SBD and I toned it down a bit,

Kitbash, that would be a weird combo. Both german though

Still a couple ties in the vote system.  If anyone hasn't voted, please do right away.  Looks like we have 4 undecided members

Kenny,
When do you want to call it good and resort to the coin toss?  I can keep these tie-breaker polls open for as long as it takes, but I'm sure these guys are anxious to find out what they are building.
