I did some scheduling today of my current GBs.  This one probaly isn't going to get started until about June/July-ish.  I'm a little bummed about that.  Sigh [sigh]

Depending on how quickly I learn how to use my new AB and compressor, It'll hopefully be sooner!

I did the a Similar Schedule also, except I devoted one day out of the week to Specific GB's . Thursday will be the Day for this GB, I almost feel like I have gone back to work the way I have this set up. I did open up the Saturn V and read the Instructions and examine parts. I have to say I am dissapointed with Revell for Pre printing the Fuselage (?) wraps. This will make painting very difficult to match. I wish they would have left them plain to where I could of painted them and decaled them myself. Sigh [sigh] They rate this kit at skill 5 , most people taking on a project of this size can figure out layouts for the markings.  Now if it was rated skill level 1 or 2 - I would have no complaints. Here is the Official Pre Build picture.

Breaking it up by days of the week...Genius!  I have 6 GBs, and a day of rest.  Then again, I could find 1 more to do....  Whistling [:-^]

Just out of curiosity I scrolled up to the Space column and did some reading. Found a thread on Saturn V's and links for AM stuff including Decals Party [party] Made contact with the maker, got them ordered - so the problem of pre~printed panels has been solved. Thumbs Up [tup]

My Hokum kit is suprisingly big for 1/48 scale.  I always thought the KA-50 was a small aircraft, but it's about 1.5 times the size of a mustang.

Here's a photo to illustrate.  The fuselage is 12" long:

I'm currently favoring this paint scheme.  Looks really cool, but hard to do:

Kenny, what markings are you gonna do on your Viper.  That looks like an AWESOME kit.   Someday I'll make that one

Wow IL2, that is a pretty big chopper. I think the 1/35 cobras are not too much longer than that.
That paint scheme doesn't look like it will be that hard to do. Just go get some silly putty. I'm thinking I will do a similar scheme, I like the desert camo option on one of the birds on my TwoBobs sheet.

I'm really excited for your build, sidure.  The Ju52s are such a distinct looking aircraft.  I would expect the corogated wings will be difficult to paint.  What do you think?

I remember that kit, I was too young for a project like that and it sadly ended up in a garbage bag in the basement somewhere.  What a tragic waste in retrospect...  Disapprove [V]

Guys

I've run into a major problem - I CAN'T FIND THE KIT !

I have spent the last two hours up in my attic going through every sealed and catalogued cardboard box of kits I have, and the Swordfish floatplane is simply nowhere to be found.....

Does anyone have any objections if I do the second selection which is a Hasegawa 1/48 Sea King converted to Royal Navy ? ( Trust me, I'd rather be doing the Swordfish )

How about if I start on the Sea King and if /when the Swordfish turns up , I'll do it as well.

The alternative is to do the Swordfish Mk 3 , which is a wheeled version, not floats.

Cheers

Bummer Simon!  Losing a kit!
My guess would be to work on the second-most popular kit, in absence of the first.  Any other opinions?

IL2, your right about painting this thing with all the corrigation but not as worried as I am about decals on it. Now that should be lots of fun.

I agree with building the second choice on your vote results.

It's gotta be around here somewhere. A further search today turned up the Airfix Recovery set  (under my bed ) , a part finished Trumpeter Gannet, but still no Tamiy Swordfish......

I've got the Sea King out in anticipation.

wow, this kit is crappy, the fit is bad, really bad, theres only one tree of parts, the sub's main body is really just 2 pieces.  The seams come right over this brick like pattern, gona take alot of putty, and alot of scribbing to get it right.

Well, the people have spoken.  I pulled out the Czech Models Yak-15 yesterday for a "once over".  I'll try and get some sprue shots up soon.  Looks like a standard limited run kit overall, lots of sanding and putty required, but a unique subject available nowhere else.  At least it has nice resin detail parts and decals.  Probably won't get started on it, though, for another week or so while I clear another kit off my bench (another Czech Model kit, the Ryan XF2R Darkshark.  Yeah, I'm a glutton for punishment!).  More to come.

Very interested to see this guy - that's the only hunk of plastic I got for christmas - the 52 civilian version (with a big CMK resin set...hooooo boy). Will be following intently! Also looking forward to IL2's Hokum - certainly don't see THAT built up every day!

Glad to see that Cobra Co is back up! Will be placing an order on Monday, I'm sure. Figure I may as well get the Hind upgrades, as well as the MH-60 ones while I'm at it to make sure all of the choppers in my closet are covered...Wink [;)]

Well here she is. i bought the kit already opened.. all the pieces appear to be there.. as usual the kit directions are in full japanese.. even the color chart.. Do'h

The kit is pretty old, and not the greatest mold either. There are quite a few "mold lines" i think is the correct term (random swirly lines darker then the rest of the body but are smooth) I assume the best way to make sure they are painted over is to just wet sand and primer correct?

another issue injection things left some nasty marks on the inside, and you can sorta see them from the roof so well see how it goes after paint. They are making it difficult for the window piece to fit so there is a small gap.

Also have this irritating junk on the rear.. as well as a small gap.. hopefully I can sand the roof part smooth so the glass can fit a bit better

any tips on what to use to paint the bottom? i want to make it look realistic and not jsut leave it satin black

So far i only really got two things done.. i wet sanded the body and it looks pretty nice. paint should lay nicely. Also cleaned the plastic, but realised im not ready to paint it yet, so i wil wipe it down once more before i paint lol

Before that I also took a look at the door and hood/trunk lines and they were ok, some not as deep as others so i took the scribe tool to them. Cool thing i eralized I could do was clean up the flash around the windows that normally id use a #11 blade or jsut sanding to get off. worked pretty well.

Smegol - here is a pretty good video of a 1/72 sub being built. Just as well plug in some tunes as it is in Japanese, but by watching it you will pick up some good tips. There is a part two also - watch and learn Wink [;)]
