sorry to hear that the 109 won't be started soon, I was looking forward to seeing that one. I'll be watching for it.

OK, I know no one cares, but, I will be disappearing from this GB for awhile. I just havn't built up the courage to start on that big, 1/32nd 109! I'll be around to comment, but I also have to finish up those other GB's. Have a great GB everyone!!!

This is a nice idea, but I'm in a little over my head right now with other stuff.

But... I have a set of Norwegian markings decals for the 1/72 Lockheed Lodestar, which probably would be useful for similar types, and I'd be happy to give them to anyone who sends me a PM. Otherwise they'll just go to waste.

Well Huxy, got the primer on and it shows a few spots need attention, the tool box and you guessed it, the shovel holder. I forgot to sand the d*#n thing before attaching and don't know if the CA will loosen up the death grip on it. Anyway here are the pics I promised.

Aside from the headlights and the tools this is a nice kit, There are some detailed weld seams that look pretty good. The link/length tracks were a snap to install. Both the 20mm & 7.92mm gun barrels are stock, I didn't have to drill them. After I put the TLC on the sore spots, I should be ready for paint.

I haven't recieved the 120mm figure yet, but I figure it to be close to 1/16. 54mm I believe is close to 1/32 scale.

Mobious: Dukw on the wings?  ?? What? Laugh [(-D]  Sounds so wrong...

And 120mm?  What scale would that be? Who made it? Recommend it? Big Smile [:D]

Thanks for that link! Very interesting, for sure! Smile [:)]

If you find more, don't hesitate to post!

I am not in this build but thought I'd post this.  It's a link to Hobbycraft's new Hawk 75 with Norwegian Markings...

I assume someone is probably doing it but for what it is worth, all the best and good luck on your builds!

Cheers, Matt

Hey huxy, I've got a 120mm Fallshirmjaeger on his way, a DUKW in the wings(literally), but no amrored car on tap. I do have a Brummbar in the mix. It is armored.Wink [;)] I don't think I'd be the choice for a designer, I wouldn't want everyone mad at me! I did get the turret all buttoned up and repaired the lights. I thinned the bezels down to about half of what I had posted earlier, ordered some lenses for them. I'll install them after paint along with the antennae trough. Should be primed tomorrow and have a few pics up too.

Yeah.. I got a 1/16 infantryman, 1/35 DUKW, 1/5 Sd.kfz 234 especially yelling at me.. Or is it me yelling at them? Dead [xx(]

Well, glad youincluded the metrics on the thickness.. .010" don't tell me a thing.. Not with the ruler nearby anyways Smile [:)]

And the kit lamps there looks  worse than yours.. They should hire you for kit designing!

And thakns for the prop..  And the sinkmarks, well, it's an old Airfix mould and the wings are not in halves. Each wing is one piece, resulting in 4 huge sinkmarks to remove... Well, they are all fixed (thank god)!

And what!? yet another model?   Well, I can't blame ya.. I'm wondering about building a diorama with the French foregin legion in Narvik, 1940. The Legion 13. D.B.L.E that will be Smile [:)] But not too sure yet..

So I sign you up for another build?

Hey huxy, The stash is alive, I clean up the work area, put a kit or two away and the next day there are 4 or 5 setting on the bench calling out to me! Build Me! Build Me!....Big Smile [:D]

Finished up with the tools and should be moving onto the turret. Did manage a pic of the lights. The shovel holder should be OK, It's the thinnest material I've got in stock. I think it's like >.010" ( > .25mm). I'll keep an eyeball on it after primer, thanks for the heads up!  The CA hazed the clear pretty badly.Banged Head [banghead] I need to attach the bezels first with the CA, then the lens with white glue. Should be an easy fix though.

Looks like a save on the prop huxy. Nice job. Those sinkmarks must have been a bear considering where they are located. I'm used to seeing things like that on the inside, not on the outside?

 Thanks for checking in Jason

 Mobious

Huxy, since this GB runs until something like Oct. of 09, count me in for an  1/48 FW190 A8. The stash is calling...Wink [;)] REAL LOUDLY!

First off, I'm happy that this GB have so many interested.. I'm optimistic for more members! And it's probably a bit early to ask for interest in a 2010 GB Whistling [:-^]

Boba Fett: "you da Huxy"  Nah, didn't sound too good Smile [:)]

Mobious: Glad you enjoyed the pictures of Norway and the fellow neighbours! You may now probably understand why Panzers weren't so 'popular' in Norway? Dead [xx(]

And your Panzer II, Great job so far!! I love the front lights especially! Can you post a picture of the original ones so we can see difference? Smile [:)]

And the styrene replacement for the shovel looks a little bit too big/thick in my opinion.. But a great, awsome work so far! Let's see it with colours! Big Smile [:D]

And the stash, it is alive.. Nothing more to say! Tought you knew that already!!

----------------------------------------------

And a update from me...

See the blad of the propellor is all wrong? I contacted the manufacturer (Airfix) for a replacement.. No replies nor nothing in the mail Disapprove [V]

Hello putty and sanding!!

And sanded...

and all the sinkmarks (Those circular suckers) that I have now removed, filled ant sanded...

A huge mouldline along the engine cowl, fixed now though...

And an instrumentpanel and side details were added...

A bit further progress have been made.. actually, alot progress.. Painted the cockpit, attached the cockpit to the hull side, glued the hull sides togheter, added engine cowl and propellor, elevators and wings.. Pictures to come!! Smile [:)]

So that was that!  Big Smile [:D]

"I've got blisters on my FINGERS!" ... I actually do have to build fast in order to avoid being overwhelmed by the ever growing "Stash" monster. Me thinks its ALIVE!!!

Truethfully, this is a relatively easy build. Very few parts. Aside from the tools, the turret is the only thing left, and it's pretty basic.

Oops, another wuickie update,

Just got the shovel and the axe fixed. I started with the shovel, but soon found out the axe has to be mounted first with the shovel being mounted somewhat above the axe. Tool clasp were added to the axe, a new shovel reciever was built from styrene along with detailing the shovel head. I'd done this with the LWS build, but it was covered by the open cargo doors. I did double check the clearance with the radio antennae trough, and everything checked out.

Best Regards and "Thank you folks for kindly dropping in!"

 A quickie update,

Mounted a few of the tools, I find it best to do the trimming while the part is still attached to the sprue, after the molded on clamps are filed/sanded away the part can be removed. I scratched a prybar from brass rod.

 Thanks for looking,

hey mg.mikael, Fast and slow are relative terms!Wink [;)] This has been a slow build for me considering the number of parts in this kit. I wish Tamiya would have included details to build the PzKpfw II c, the predecessor to the A model. the rounded bow plate was there, but the tow pins/mounts were not. My ref pics are not clear enough for me to scratch themSad [:(]

jason12472, Thanks, the headlights were an easy upgrade over the kit supplied "lenses". Cut a strip of brass, rolled it up, cut and sanded to shape the lens, then glued everything together. I plan on masking the lens area with liquid mask before any paint is applied.

Thanks for taking the time to look and comment,

 Mobious

Sorry I'm not going fast enough. I wrenched my back Thursday, and have been hobbling around since.

Hey Huxy, The Library or Congress has posted images of Norway, Sweden, and Finland on Flickr. A collection called "Then and Now". Beautiful country. the terrain in Norway looks especially rugged.

Did manage to get a little done.

The headlight lens and bezels were replaced with scratched ones from scrap PE and clear pastic. Some sanding will be required to get a little closer fit. The kit ones were totally unacceptable for a $33.00 USD kit.

Texturing on the auspuff, PE chains added to the smoke candle cannisters and the kit part H39 was replaced with brass rod. Not sure what H39 is, But the brass is shiny!Wink [;)]

The tool box latches were replaced with PE.

That's where the PzKpfw IIA is at now. Most of this has taken me to step 10. All the tool stowage and finishing up the lower hull.

Boba Fett, looking forward to seeing the Me 109. Was considering building an FW 190 for this GB as well.

Thanks for viewing and the positive comments,

Great to hear this GB had a definitive deadline and that it has so many members joining up!Cool [8D] Can't wait to see everyone's builds. As for myself, I plan to start in a few months, so don't expect any WIP pics anytime soon. But I'll still be checkin' out everyone elses progress.Wink [;)]

Hey bufflehead, It has been along time since I've built a tamiya kit, This kit looks like a really easy build. No fit issues so far.

The bison decals look very cool. I was wondering about the early 2 tone camo, if it had seen use in Norway.

Boba Fett: Glad you could join, finally! You could search for more pictures of the G-14 in Norway.. So you could get information ;)

I was afraid at first that the G-14 was not in Norway, considering it's a 1944 plane...  A little late.. But considering there were quite some bombraids and dogfights, even with Mustangs, I was not just too sure Smile [:)]   But now we know!

You are now signed up.

Mobious: That Panzer II looks sweet so far! Glad you liked the link & length tracks Big Smile [:D] Now hurry, get more done!

Bufflehead: God damn!! Shock [:O]   That's excellent!! I want one of these.. I will most certainly order one of those as soon as possible..

As for the Neubaufahrzeug, I'll get it... Maybe for next years Norway GB?   Ya.. I am thinking of making a second one.. Especially with the interest I've already gotten Big Smile [:D]

And I set the end date to 10/15 yes. October the 15th.

Mobious, good looking Pz II!  I've got to try that new Tamiya kit some day.  The only Pz IIs I've built are the old Tamiya kit from the 70s and the newer Alan kit, both of which have issues!

For you armor fans out there:  I found some Bison decals for z.b.V. 40 in Norway 1940-41 on Ebay so I went to the Bison website to get more info.  First here is a cool set of decals for Pz I Ausf A & B, Pz IIc, and the Neubaufahrzeug:

There are some links on this decal page that take you to a website with many photos of Norway from 1940-1945.  Lots of photos of Pz Is, IIs, IIIs, even a Pz IV!  Also a few more photos of that crazy looking Neubaufahrzeug!  I'm seriously thinking of dropping the duckets for that Armo resin kit and building one for this GB, but much much later!  Hmmmm....Huxy, you set the end date for 10/15?

Hey boba fett, I know what you mean about the fear factor! I've got a couple kits that frieghten me. but I'll get at 'em soon enough. Won't let it stop me from having fun. Good luck with school, ad hurry back, looking forward to seeing pics of th 109.

A quick update, Step 1 was the assembly of the roadwheels, drive sprocket and idlers.

Step 2 mounts the suspension to the hull, Idler adjusters/mounts, and attaches the final drive housings. Although I can't really see in my it any of the references, I added a sublte cast texture using tenax to the final drive housings. The curved bowplate is also added. As I figured this would have been formed from rolled steel and not forged I didn't add any texturing. Step 3 installs the roadwheels, drive sprockets, idlers, and return rollers. Step 4 installs the link length tracks. Pretty easy install and a decent look to the "sag"'. The pics show the upper hull set in place to get an idea of how much track play is replicated with the link/length tracks.

I like the link & length tracks. A lot less involved than the Indy Link Tracks, way better than the rubber band tracks from days of old! these Tamiya kits go together nicely.

YAY!!! Smile [:)] Then sign me up!!!!!  I forgot about it at the top of my stash. I pull it out once in a while but I'm scared to death of it. It's the 1/32nd Hasegawa offering thus explaining my fear of wrecking it. I don't know if I'm gonna use the kit markings or if I can find aftermarket stuff. I don't think I'm up to doing Halstrick's plane due to the camo but if my airbrushing skills are up to it, I might give it a shot! The kit decals go with a predominately light gray plane with yellow fuselage band and chin scoop. I might dissapear from this GB for a while due to school but when I get a break, I definately will start in on this kit! Thanks alot Huxy!
