Hey stikpusher, The fit of the fuselage halves looks pretty good. I always liked the lines of the Mosquito. On my top five list of favorite WWII twin engined fighters, the Mosquito ranks #2, just under the P-38, the Twin Tailed Devil.

 Looking forward to updates,

Hey Huxy, would an He 219 night fighter qualify for this GB? The Tamiya kit has markings for 3/NJG, stationed in Denmark?

Ok, more progress during the day today. I got the fuselage halves glued together, sanded, and rescribed all lost lines. Once that was completed I added the wings and horizontal stabilizers. I still need to sand the fuselage/vertical stabilizer seams smoothe. Here are a few more progress shots. Almost ready for the main painting!

For instrument panels the sets I have seen (an buy up when I find them) are: USN fighters ( F4F/FM, F4U, F6F series aircraft); USAAF fighters ( P-51 and P-39 variants); RAF fighters (Spitfire, Hurricane, Typhoon, and Mosquito); and USAAF Bombers (B-17, B-24, and B-29). I do have a Bf-110 sheet, but it is for markings and not the IP stuff. I would love to find a Japanese and German set, but have never seen them listed. I think they are long out of production but I see them at several LHS around my area and on ebay all the time. There is also a great WWII/Korean war ordinance marking sheet (bombs and rockets).

Stikpusher I think those decals are great. I take it they come in flavors according to nationality.  Do you know if they are still available? Thanks in advance.

I'm glad you guys like it so far. I see so much more I can do witht his kit, but as I said before, this is straight OOB and with a definite time limit on the finish line.

I used the old Monogram Pro Modeler decals for RAF fighters. It has several IP decals for the Mosquito NF II. There are correctly configured, but not quite siz matched for this old kit. So I sliced up the sheet a bit to position match the kit instruments better. The sheet also has multiple sets of individual instruments of various types to use as you choose. I used a few of those for solitary guages that were not covered. I use Micro Sol to try to get all the decals to snuggle down on to the panel better. Betwen those and the painting methods I used, I think the IP came out fairly well.

This morning I glued the fuselage halves together after putting in the bombardiers side windows. This afternoon/evening will be sanding the seams and filler where needed....

The cockpit is now painted. Here are a few shots. I detailed the IP with a mix of fine tip painting, Pro Modeler instrument decals and some wash/dry brushing.

...more to follow by Sunday...

Thanks guys! I used Humbrol Cockpit Green for the interior. I see so much dressing up potential with this kit, in spite of its age. But I am trying to have it done within another 3 weeks four the local IPMS chapter meeting. The theme this month is "Rule Britannia" any Brit modeling subject. So this one is straight OOB. I will be hitting the build hard this weekend. For a kit that is roughly 40 years old I am really enjoying it.

Hey stikpusher, the Mosquito is looking good. A really neat subject. Looking forward to progress updates.

Huxy, glad to hear you recieved a response from Airfix and they are willing to correct the prop.

Currently working on another project, need to get at least one of the GB's finished  before I am able to start on the FW. I have all the parts2starts, but no time in the schedule.Sad [:(]

Keep up the fun everyone and keep posting the pics.

I got the wng halves glued together, but not yet sanded. I added some bare metal foil to the inner face of the underwing landing lights. All surfaces that will be visible once built have been painted RAF interior green. The cockpit is still getting the finishing touches painted.

Ignore the messy workdesk...

Lads!! Guys!! Guess what!! Big Smile [:D]

You still remember the propellor problem?  Just received an E-mail from Hornby (They who own Airfix) and this is what it says:

"I do apologise for the delay in replying to you. I am sending you a new propellor in the post, but having inspected a few kits, it looks like it may be an issue with the old tooling, so I am asking our engineering department to look into it further."

I'm damn great they look into the problem further.. And I'll see which propellor looks best.. mine or theirs..  So a replacing mine may be happening...  Just wanted to give you all the heads up!!

I did a bit of painting today. Most of the basic colors in the cockpit are done now. Next for some washes, drybrushing and installation. We shall see how much I get done this weekend. Hopefully all I need to get the major construction done during the week.

I am building an oldie but goody from the stash... the venerable Monogram Mosquito B. IV. (moldings stamped 1966!) I have begun construction during the week. Today I began painting the interior. I am doing this one straight OOB except for markings which will come from Aeromaster.

Sorry for late update, chaps!

Stikpusher: You are on the roster... but is that mosquito by Tamiya?

jay12472: You're on the roster with yet another kit!

JMart: Thanks on the propellor!

--------------

Then to my little update......

I'm got shortly the entire plane assembled (Missing two exhaustpipes and the rudder) and then going to add wire to the wings in an X shape here and there, as in the real thing, and paint it up...

The wheels had some annoying flash, but it went clean off with some fancy knifehandling... Cleaned wheel to the left and "dirty" to the right..

And here she is so far! Note the sideways rudder... Not attached yet, just a temp. there...

Enjoy!

Norway WWII Group Build 2009

Mobious - very nice job so far, good scratchbuilding. Indeed fast building!  You can put a drop of future/Klear on the lenses to give it that shiny/lens light look. Very good paint job and all in place!

Huxy - good work recovering the prop wrappage.

mg.mikael - I have that Tristar in my stash, look forward to your build!

I always wonder how you find exactly that building, in such a city, and actually hits it... Shock [:O]

It's pretty tough. The RAF ran the same type of attack against the Gestapo HQ in downtown Copenhagen with pretty disastrous results, in 1945, although they did destroy the building. Operation Carthage.

mg.mikael, The Tristar kit sounds like a really nice kit with all the details & decals all in one box. Very interested in this build and will be attentively watching. I've never built a Tristar, but have heard a lot of praise for their releases.
