Bufflehead: Well, I am getting that Armo kit as well.. The Neubaufahrzeug is a must to have for me Big Smile [:D]  But before you switch from Pz. I to NbFz. VI, check out the Armor forum and look for my topic saying "My first try at Magic Tracks..." or something... It shows my latest work on my DML Pz. I. Changing the title when next update comes to a "DML Panzer I WIP" or something...  Had to take a brake from filling and filing (Hah, one letter difference!!!) the Gloster Gladiator....  >_<

Stickpusher: That is a most famous incident in my mind..  I'll sign you up on the roster soon... May not be just now, but soon! Smile [:)]

I always wonder how you find exactly that building, in such a city, and actually hits it... Shock [:O]

OK, I think I will join in this GB. I am planning on building a 1/48 Mosquito from RAF 105 Squadron. This unit bombed Gestapo Headquarters in Oslo on Sept 25, 1942 in a precision low level attack.

F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!

U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!

N is for NO SURVIVORS...

Thanks a million for the offer Mobious, but I got plenty of decals with this Tristar set.Smile [:)] For example they gave me decals for Pz. I Ausf. A that served in the Spanish Civil War, Norway, Poland, and etc.

Hey Huxy, Making a change on the roster, I'll be attempting the 1/48 Eduard FW190 A8, I was going to do an F8(white one from JG5) but can not locate any decals. Since this GB runs awhile I'll start that one at a later date. Thanks in advance.

I can't really give you much info about Tristar kits, because this will be my first. However just from looking at the sprues though, I can tell you the detail is crisp, no flash, no bad molds, and no broken parts. Thus this should be nice build, since I won't have to do alot of extra work to fix pieces. And, yes it does come with a full interior, transmission, engine, etc.  Looks like the interior will take me awhile, since half of those pieces on the sprues go inside.Shock [:O]

Then you refer to the same torpedo battery that fired at Blücher?

I've seen it on tellie, and a bit with my own eyes.. Saw it when we passed over Blücher with the ship from Denmark Big Smile [:D]   oil is still leaking from that cruiser..

But I'll look it up here and get back to you as soon as possible..

So you lived here in '68?  Got to be sad...  Now as we have oil and such, and are rich Laugh [(-D]

Where did you live?

Huxy- PM received and I'll get back to you shortly. I lived in your country for a month in 1968 and elsewhere nearby for other stretches.

Question for you, I've always been fascinated by the shore torpedo defences in Oslofjord, but I've never seen pics. I assume that's a pretty unique installation. Do you have info or links to...?

Herr Kommandant Huxy, The shovel holder is too big. I may change it out for one built from brass in the future. The Fw190F8/9 would be the Tamiya kit.

Mobious, great reply...      And for the shovel, I meant the shovel cover you made yourself.. It seems slightly too long I think...

Anyways, I sign you up on the FW 190? Who makes it? Smile [:)]

Jason, Thanks for the comments it was difficult for me not to obscure the camo with what little weathering I did.

mg.mikael, The comments are greatly appreciated. Looking forward to seeing the PzI progress. Looks like a very nice kit. The PzKpfw I is the only panzer I think I haven't built, yet...

Kommandant Huxy, Thanks for the comments. The shovel is the kit supplied shovel. Next time I build a shovel holder it will be from brass. I could have trimmed more off of it without damaging it. The Bison decals specified the air recognition panels for this particular vehicle, I opted for the flag. The air recognition flags may have been used due to the "rushed" deployment of troops to Norway, possibly expecting Commonwealth intervention. The Squadron publications are a pretty good general overview of a subject. Usually identifying with photos major versions of a particular subject. I like them because they are 1. a good general reference  2. several nice color plates and 3. affordably priced. I was thinking of getting the "DUKW in action" also, along with a couple of aircraft titles.

The "Wood" was basecoated with Vallejo Acrylics yellow ochre, shadow lines were added with Vallejo German cam. medium brown, then lightly drybrushed with the shadow color, finally an oil wash of WN burnt sienna was added.

Thanks again, for viewing, comments, and suggestions. Looking forward to updates from all.

Byrneout: Sadly, a Panzer 38 will not work in this GB... Sadly the Germans did never use it here.. Or, the turrets from converted Panzer 38's came to forts in Festung Norwegen (The Norwegian part of the atlantic wall) and used there.. if you build a bunker with the Pz 38 turret, granted..  Unless... I'm sorry! Thanks for the interest though!

Mobious: Mobious... That's an awsome build!  And the shovel cover looks good. But a little bit too long... They should be relatiely shorter, shouldn't they? The shovels weren't that long? And how well is those "... In Action" books?  I am due to order the one for the DUKW soon.. Will be my first Smile [:)]

And I like the title, Kommandant Huxy   Wink [;)]

Sorry for not saying more about your great looking build... I am not the one who can say so much nice about other peoples build.. I feel other people say it for me Big Smile [:D]

Oh, 2 tone camo came out beautifull!  And as mg.mikael said, "[...] what paints/techniques do you use to get that wood grain color on the tool handles?"

Also, I'm not too sure about the flag...  It does look great, yeah... But that was used as a recognition flag to aid the Luftwaffe for not bombing their own tanks... But as Norway didn't have any tanks, would it be needed?   Maybe.. I won't say for sure.. just something I came to think about =)

mg.mikael:  That kit looks huge....  How is the Tristar kits? And is that tank with interior?   Can't wait to see photos!! Big Smile [:D]

I have the masterclass video on building the 109 by Flyod Werner and can get the size off for you when I get a free minute. I checked an it is .005  ( 5 thousandths) also don't glue the tail plugs together, glue them two the fuselage parts it fits much better this way

The video I found to be very helpful for my 109 and all the models I do know.

Hey mg.mikael, On the shovel handles, I basecoat with an acrylic yellow/orange, trim with dark yellow/orange, drybrush with the same color as the trim, then apply a burnt sienna wash. On the jack block the same sequence was used except grain lines were painted in before drybrushing very lightly.

Finally got the lenses done. It was a struggle on a massive scale nearly equal in effort as getting Armstrong to the moon. At least that's the way I experienced it. The first effort was constructed incorrectly and as a result, the lenses hazed very badly. After making the decision to rebuild them and alter the sequence of assembly, I also thinned them nearly half of their original appearance. The lenses I ordered were not clear as I had hoped, therefore new ones had to be built. This is where the story takes on the possibility of a black hole that resides somewhere near my hobby bench. I cut and sanded to shape at a ratio of 5:1 to cover the loses incurred by the voracious appitite of the roaming black hole. 8 ready to go lenses were lost. I also added Bronco wingnuts to the jack & the jack block hold downs. I like the Bronco set better than the MK set, just my opinion.

//WARNING//CAUTION// here are a couple of pics.

this is a shot next to the CH PzKpfwIIF built last year.

comments and suggestions are always welcome and appreciated. Thanks for checking in and taking a look around the place!

 Best Regards,

 Mobious

I thought I wouldn't get around to this build for awhile. But long story short, I have no paints for my M-3 Scout Car I'm currently building for another GB. So I decided to take this one out and look what I have to work with. So here's the kit, and the ton of sprues in this kit. Look forward to starting later today, it should actually be relaxing compared to the M-3 Scout car which is a 40 year old kit.

Mobious, your build looks fantastic and the weathering storm as you put it, has yet to begin. Can't wait to see the finished pics!!Thumbs Up [tup]

Just one question, what paints/techniques do you use to get that wood grain color on the tool handles?Question [?]

Hey Commandant Huxy, Here's a pic of the shovel

I took a couple more pics, but a fuzzy whuzzy was a hanging on one of the tool clasp. Wasn't much of a weathering storm, more of a drizzle, Anyway stick a fork in it. I'll try and get a finished pic up soon. Thanks for tuning in... I'm off to hunt Buffalo.

BryneOut, According to the Squadron Publications "PzKpfw 38(t) in Action" the Ausf A was used in the battle for Poland and France. The Ausf B was in production from Jan. to May of 1940. I don't know what PD's were equipped with them. A caption under one of the photos states that all of Panzergruppe Hoth's PD's (7th,12th,19th, and 20th) were equipped with the 38s. Also a color plate of an Ausf A of the 3rd Liecth Div. in Poland. Don't know if any of this helps but ultimately it is Commandant Huxy's decision.Wink [;)]

Hey Huxy,A few pics of the throw down onda 2tone, the Tommies wont like the 2 tone. Tommy Tutone? Egads! Just about set for the weathering storm to begin. Lost the spare track, I knocked it off with my pinky and it vaporised. No trace. I may have hit it so hard that a molecular chain reaction occured, and all the molecules rearranged themselves into another form of matter, or maybe even antimatter....hmmmm?
