Norway WWII Group Build 2009

The Panther tank? No.. I'm sorry, but no.. Or, I haven't heard of any, nor can I imagine they put any of them here.. Especially while keeping in mind how Norway was 70 years ago.. It's just not a tank-friendly terrain    The Panther was just too expensive to have here..

Mobious: That's quite somedetails    And thelink and lenght tracks, they work out very well.. Atleast on my older Tamiya 1/48 tanks!

This is no problem with this aircraft in the kit was based in Norway at least in 1941. I will be doing the one with the big tank on the fuselage.

Some of these were also used in BOB to escort the Ju88's on raids in northern Britain.

The scale is 1/48

Huxy that is one impressive pit, did it atleast come with a decal for the ip? yours looks very nice hope it fits.

I would like to join this group build. I'm new to this hobby or at least returned to it after many years. So I hope it is ok for me to join.

At the moment I'm working on a Hs123 as my practise model. When I'm done that I would like to work on one of my main theme models which is the Battle of Britain period. Several of these models also fits into the Norway area as well. If you accept me I will get a Eduard Me110D for this group. I know one of the aircraft in the kit was based in Norway.

I expect it will be 4 weeks before I will start it.

Hey Huxy,  Was planning on beginning later, after I got a couple of other builds completed, but waiting on parts forced a change in plans. I got the 1/35 Tamiya Pz II. Looks like a nicely molded kit. There are a few knock out marks on the hatches that will have to be cleaned up but overall looks like a snap to put together. Here's a pic of the contents along with some reference material I'll be using.

 Should be a fun build, I like the little PzII. Still looking for a few more details of the PzIIC and the 4th PD during their time in Norway. I'll post a few pics this weekend after I get a little done around the bunker first. Be throwing in a couple of my favorite movies during the build.

It started yesterday, now I am a little bit into my Gladiaotr.. 

Gloster Gladiator Mk.I from Airfix... And boy, does it need extra work 

My plan is to paint it in Norwegian 1940 scheme. Basicly a light grey scheme with Norwegian flag colour striped on the rudder and on wingtips...

Here's the kit. Few parts, not well moulded...


And check out the cockpit detail!! It has no! I am going to carve a hole there and make one..


So.. I want to reposition the rudder as well. The lower hull piece there has the rudder taken off, and the "cockpit" removed....


And I made my own cockpit (Still WIP) using styrene card, photoetch and putty...

While building the cockpit, I managed to spill half a bottle of contactglue, and spill some glue on a model.. no harm taken though.. just so frustrating!!

Well, it's coming along nicely!

While it was named Deutschland, it was the ship who brought Hitler to the country in the 1930's as well :)

I was planning on doing a waterline ship this year, and I can choose one that will fit on this GB:

1:700 Fujimi/SeaWay Model Deutschland/Lutzow.

The pocket battleship Deutschland saw action in the Spanish Civil war, then got updated and renamed Lutzow, as well as reclassified as a heavy cruiser. Was right behind the Blucher in the Battle of Drobal Sound; same fortress guns who sank Blucher heavily damaged Lutzow, who had to go back for repairs/refit.

The kit (and mold) is old, not much detail but I can dress it up a bit with generic WW2 Kriegsmarine PE ladders and such. Lutzow had a funky camo pattern, but was not applied until after the Norway campaing, so "gray and underway" will be the paint scheme.

 Huxy, I have the Dragon 1/35 Pz III H. It would have to be back dated to the earlier E or an  F in order to have been included in the invasion. Put me down for the new Tamiya PzII A/B/C, I have a couple of good reference pics of the 4th PD in service during operation "Weserubung".

Mobious: I've seen pictures of the Pz.III used in Norway, and as far as my knowledge goes, they even had the Panzer IV..  Panzer III is a go ;)

 Thinking of either a Pz II or PzIII. I'll check references against the PzIII I have in stash. Not sure which PD's were involved with the Invasion of Norway. Hope the PzIII clears, I've been wanting to build an early version of this MBT.
