ok,here is a little bit of fun...while i was waiting for other parts to set, i made up this rear stand from one of the dml/dragon kits i have.

it only took an hour to glue and paint. the wrap is some tamiya tape with vallejo paints all over.

tomorrow i'm off to the imperial war museam in london to checkout the ww1 bits and pieces they have.

Ludwig,

Make sure you turn up at Hendon well before 12. Opening times for the Grahame White Hanger (Full of WW1 Goodies) is 10am to 12. You need at least an hour worth of drooling. Smile [:)]

Have a great day out.

Gary,

According to Squadron's website,  Revell's venerable 1/48 P-51D comes with those markings as well as Tamiya's D model in 1/72.  Don't know about individual decal sheets though.

Frank,

It appears that round two is moving along just as fast as round one did.  I managed to injure myself while off over the holidays, and this has hampered my building (and pretty much everything else as well), but I was amazed to see how many postings have shown up since I last checked in.  Anyway, I will let you know when I start my Camel, even though you already have a very nice one completed in the group.

Gary, I may have a few laying around somewhere. If I can find 'em they're yours. Thumbs Up [tup]

I've got the Tamayia kit in 1/48th, and it dosn't come with them. Wonder if an aftermarket company sells them?

Frank,

Actually, I herniated a disk, so it is fairly serious, but with physical therapy and my chiropractor, I am hoping to avoid surgery.  I have been slowly improving this week, and have been able to spend a little time actually building once again.  Thanks for the kind words on my KOTS I entries! Big Smile [:D]  Hopefully, I will be back in full action soon!

I'm still waiting on my 1/48 Eduard Fokker D VII. It should be in next week sometime. I really would like to get started on it and see how quick I can get myself into trouble. I am way out of my realm building a WWI biplane!

Gary Tamiya did a special boxing of thier 1/48 P-51 D kit number 61089 called 8th Airforce Aces that included markings for Col. Landers Big Beautifull Doll. Unfortunatly it has been OOP for quite some time. I stashed one when I came across it a couple of years ago.

I got back to the Fokker D-VI this weekend.  Before starting on the initial finishing steps I checked against the 1/48 three-views to make sure the profile and plan-view were correct.  Dead nuts on as they say.  I also decided to paint the markings at this step because I didn't think I'd be able to mask over the lozenge decals.

Simply outstanding! This is quite the project, and you're making it look easy (which I'm sure it ain't). I really can't wait to see this one when it's finished! Thumbs Up [tup]

More Power Scotty, Hope you get well soon. Herniated disc, Dead [xx(]OUCH!Dead [xx(] sounds painful enough for me. Looking forward to seeing more of your fantastic builds.

soulcrusher, Hope the DVII shows up on the doorstep soon!

dcaponell, very nice, It really is coming together. A nice tip about not masking decals, too.

I got the underside lozenge decals in place today but haven't had time to post pics.  I'll try and get them done tomorrow evening when I get home from campus.

Donald- Progressing nicely!

I do have a question for you on that D.VI...

The fuselage appears "pinched" right behind the cockpit.  Is this a quirk of the design of the real aircraft?  Or is it the effect of combining different kit fuselage pieces?

Hello all, It has been a while since my last update. Top wing of my Pfalz DIII primed, rubbed down with micromesh 4000. Rib tapes masked and preshaded. Tamiya 2 parts Nato Black to 1 part Buff mixed together and heavely thinned with tamiya thinner. The top wing will be given the Silber Grau dope (2 parts Chainmail to 1 part Skull White - Citadel Paints) in the next couple of days. Happy days!

Bob, that is outstanding work! While not a huge fan of pre-shading, the one area where I honestly believe that the technique adds not just added "pop" but true realism is when it's used to weather these magnificent machines.

SC, it may take you a day or so just to absorb everything that Eduard gives you with this kit, but however long it takes, I can say for sure that you're in for an enjoyable build and I for one cannot wait to see some progress pics! Thumbs Up [tup]

Bob- I like your keyboard, took me a minute to get it! Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

I also like your pre-shading, should really add to the finished paint job on the wing.  Well done! Thumbs Up [tup]

SC- So, whaddya think of that D.VII? Tongue [:P]

Thanks Mike I really am looking foward to building this kit. I hope I can do it justice.

Frank I spent about an hour just looking over the instructions trying to figure out how this kit goes together. The instrucions are great but I know nothing about the actual plane so I am going to need some input from you guys on the best way to build this one.Looks like a sweet kit. I still have to finish the other two GB first before I get to involved it it. I am sure you  will be right there with all the answers for me buddy, Parlee?
