Guy, I've seen your shamless plugs everywhere.  I may just have to join your buildWink [;)]  Could you recommend a kit?  1/48 and 1/72, fighters or larger.

Anything goes.  Fighters 1/48 & bombers 1/72.  I have no Regia Aeronautica aircraft past or present in my stash.  I do want to try the camo schemes they have, very cool.

What have i done Now? Or said strangely?

Wyoroy, if it were me id go for something not on the list yey, maybe Italieris Pipistrell

http://www.century-of-flight.net/Aviation%20history/photo_albums/timeline/ww2/Savoia%20Marchetti.htm

I built the SM 79 recently and fancy the Pipi to add to the collection as well. Go for it. Great camo schemes on the bird.

Alright now, seriously. This is the only Italian bird I have ever built and it was in my stash forever and one day my daughter picked it out for herself and her own paint scheme.

I kinda like it.

Guy, here's one I would like to do (#2) if I can find it.  The camo is simple but it has this look that I have never seen, very cool.

Thanks, I like the way it has the big sweeping colors.  Plus I don't think I have seen anyone do that scheme.

He He He... Aren'tthose both Sophia Loren?

I have found some decals I got back when they were on Sale!

Did a little work so Guy doesn't think me a slacker.  They call me a stepper at work whatever that means? Must step in it or something?  Gotta get me one of those Texas Dictonaries!

Here are a few. Probably safe to say I am building one of these!  If anyone needs better pics or would like the info on a particular AC here please let me know and I will produce! I have already reproduced! 4 times!  We don't die we multiply!!!!!!

Hmmm take you seriously? Hmmm sound like we are married? Kisses [:X]

Yep, both Sophia.

Can anybody tell me what is the difference between the Macchi 202 and 205 or for that matter the 2005. Looking at them I cant tell much. Is it along the lines of the difference with the Me 109 F, G, K kinda thing. Im a totall rookie with Italian aircraft.

Dont tell anyone but so am I. They look pretty similar to me.

Great photos Aaron. Get off the naughty chair and come and sit with the others. Does anyone know if they make a model of that CANT seaplane. Shes a honey.

Steve Love the blue wonder. That would seriously have pride of place in my house. Also great period pic. You dont win a prize as you grassed Aaron up. No more telling tales, or youll have to dress as Ms Loren for the duration of the build.

And the 2000s, which were Reggiane birds...

If you'd like to know more, a great series on Italian aircraft are the three series published by La Bancarella Aeronautica:
  • Ali D'Italia (~Wings of Italy) - similar to the Bunrin Do Famous Airplanes or AeroDetail series.
  • Ali e Colori (~Wings and Color) - more like the old Colors & Markings series by Squadron.
  • Ali Straniere (~ Foreign Wings) - focused on foreign aircraft used by the RA.

Teacher, I can't find a picture of my particular D.520...will the profile I posted earlier be alright instead?

    HTH!

    Cheers,
    Alex

Oooh, I know! Pick me! Pick me!

First off it's a Cant Z.506 Airone...and yes, she's very pretty.  In 1/72 there's the old Supermodel/Italeri/RoG kit, which is actually very nice...at least as nice as their Bv 138.  In 1/48 there's the molto costoso Alphaflight resin kit.

Supermodel put out quite a few 1/72 RA heavies in fantastic kits (for their age) that are nicely detailed, cheap, easy to find, and accurate.  They are also a lot of fun to build.  Some of these are:

    1/72 SM 81 Pipistrello
1/72 Bv 138 (Italeri and RoG have both repopped it)
1/72 Z.1007 Alcione - this is the single tailed version
    1/72 Z.1007 Bideriva - twin tail version
1/72 Z.506B Airone (Italeri has repopped it)

Can you tell I'm a huge fan of Supermodel, and of Italian aircraft in general?  If my plate wasn't so full, I'd be in with at least 3 other builds.  Now, if only some one would bring out a kit of the Z.511! Propeller [8-]

Alex, you are a top student for all the detail on the CANT. I have the Supermodel BV 138 in my ever increasing stashette. It does look like a good kit. Raised panel lines an all. (Needs a rescribe really) Ill make it my mission to find the seaplane next. Oh and as for the homework, any pic will do. Not necesarilly the one your building. Come on lad, chop chop.
