Regia Aeronautica GB II (06/15/09 to 06/15/10)

Ok, Teach, here it is.  As per request, one period (fuzzy) picture of a Dewoitine D.520 in Regia Aeronautica livery.

I was working on my 109's tonight and before I wrapped up my AB session I figured I would practice doing some smoke circles on my test model. Remember this was my first attempt.

Foot note, no Corsairs were killed or injured during this experement

Those rings can be fun. At first I was too heavy but made some adjustments to pressure and then I found I could make them look uniformed. Your right about making the random pattern. On the right wing I was just doing spots in case I want to try one of those paint schemes in three colour pattern. Havent made up my mind yet.

Excellent stuff lads. Looks like the pictures came through thick and fast, by the thick and fast LOL. Its a bummer about those decals though. They look absolutely amazing but unfortunately, we dont have a supplier here in the UK.

Right next mission.... As Frank was 1st to the button with his pic he found he can set us all a new mission. Preferably Italian WW2 related. Its fun looking for random stuff on the net. Whatever you like Frank. Go for it big boy....or its detention.

Thanks for the link Roy, I do have a set of them in the stash. One of the things I like about this GB was the challange of the camo. I will probably end up using the decals but I want to see if I can pull off the smoke rings with my new AB. I am having so much fun with it.

Dont worry about the Corsair Frank, it was a 1/48 die cast I got as a gift many years ago from Budweiser and it was marked in racing colours with a frog as a pilot. Do you remember those adds on tv. Its assembled with screws and the underside of the wings are hollow. It scales out well but not accurate. BUD-WEIS-ERRRR

I have been trying to find a photo on the net to post here that I have in a book at home.  Unfortunately, my scanner is on the fritz so I cannot scan my copy. 

The new mission is:

Find the photo of a Macchi MC.200 flying over an enemy aerodrome at about 7 feet altitude.  The photo has a desert Spitfire sitting in the foreground.  The caption of the photo in my book lists it as:

"An Italian Macchi buzzes the aerodrome low to avoid enemy anti-aircraft fire as it surrenders in Taranto."

Be the first to find this photo and post it here!  I'm waiting... LOL

Funny you mention those decals Roy, I just ordered a set of them from Mike last week the day I signed on to this circus!

WHEW!  Sounds like you did that poor lil' Corsair a favor then!

Sean- LOL, yep- I spend my off-duty hours searching the forums for Corsair infractions.  Sounds like Steve did the right thing in this case.

Waiting , No luck on my end, The only books I have are by Squadron - Macchi C.202 in action, Italian Aircraft Of World War II, and Regia Aeronautica Vol 1 & 2 

At my age I should not be getting Homework assingments.

Okay, okay...  No candy canes.  They hurt worse than hockey sticks!  ...and how would I know

In my stash I have the 1/72 Supermodel Maachi 202 and 205 as mentioned.  I also have the 21st Century Maachi 202 in 1/32.  I also discovered to my delight that I have the 1/72 Supermodel Fiat Cr.32 (kinda pre WWII though) and the Fiat G55s 'Silurante'. 

Now the G55s is cool, It's a single engined fighter that was fitted with a torpedo.  Given that lots of the Maachi's are covered in this GB already I'm thinking I'll do that one.  Time to go do some homework and see if I can find some pics.

OK boys I think I have officially made up my mind to change my entry. The Classic Airframes SM 79 is a sweet kit but I fear it will take more hours to finish than I have to devote to it so I am downsizing to a plane not yet covered in this GB yet. The Regianne Re 2000. I had the 1/48 Classic Airframes in the stash and it really caught my eye. The camo scares me a bit but I am going to have a go at it. So if you would Guy please change my entry on the first page.

Dave great to have you on board. For the record I would never beat you with a candy cane! A Fiat G55 sounds like a great subject too.

Here's an box top illustration that shows a better image.  It's not the box top  from my Supermodel kit obviously.

I need to take a look and see if I still have decals for this thing.
