Mobius, great job on the Wildcat.

The faded finish looks spot on.

I really like the older Hase 1/72 scale fighters, quite simple, but well detailed externally, and easy to build.

Here's a Hase 1/72 Raiden I finished a couple of months back.

Thanks Jason..

I used a pic of a Seiran from the Air and Space Museum and others I saw on the net. The Instructions and the kit dolly just looked too "toy like". Plus I couldnt replicate the wood tone to my satisfaction so I used real wood.

Carlos.

Hey Carlos, The dolly turned out awesome. All it needs is a bar-b-q pit, a cooler, and it's ready for tail gate parties or the infield at MIS. Seriously the planking is great. Two Thumbs Up! Nice work.

Jason, the pit detail painting is great. Very nice work.

Karl, That is one sharp looking bird, and 1/72 it looks great.

Bondo, Very nice photo. Things that float are cool. Things that float and fly are really COOL! Very nice!

You're going to love that kit.  I built it about a year ago and was very impressed.  Probably the best Hellcat on the market in 1/48.

You'll love it.  It's a great kit.  Did you order the kit with the PE rigging included?

Here are some pics.

The first is an early Kate I finished recently.  On this one I used the acrylic over metalizer approach and then went to town with some masking tape.  The next is the finished Rex using the salt technique.  I think there is a pretty stark difference.  I think the salt gives a much better affect, but I'll let you guys make your own decisions on this:

Can't really tell that the prop is spinning....but I assure you it is!

The last one is of the Eduard Hellcat I finished about a year ago.  This was a great kit and I look forward to seeing someone else build it.

Wow, Stu, All 3 look great. Nice paint on the Hellcat. I like both the Kate and Rex. Nice work on both. IMO the salt method yielded a finer chipping effect. Thanks for posting a comparitive shot of both methods and that great looking Ironworks F6F.

Sign - Welcome [#welcome]aboard Chris!!! Our CO will be doing his rounds shortly and add you to the roster. Really looking forward to seeing you Hellkitty come alive!!

Carlos another floatie thing!!!! You da man! Looking forward to that one too!! Another dolly will be in the works definately! Guess the elves are on salary now I take it?Wink [;)] Have always liked the Hamps clipped wings myself and in combo with the spotted dog camo just looks like a mean snake to me! Habu? Think that is the old Hase kit I have, think it might be a round tipped A6M3 model 32. The model 22 was the Hamp. Even as old as this kit is it has extra parts in it that wth the proper decals can be made into an M2, M3, or M5.

Stu those are some awsome builds mate!!! I love the way the tires look on the Hellkitty! They just look right!! The Kate and Rex are just the bees knees!! Just my My 2 cents [2c] on the paint chipping, I love the realistic randomness of the tape pulling technique on the Kate, and love the fineness of the chipping on the Rex. What I think would really work, would be to do a combo technique using both styles. To alleviate the residue salt leaves behind, try a fine sand instead maybe. Saw that in a reader tip once. Very nice work on all three!!!!Thumbs Up [tup]

Well I found the flaw in Tamiya's Seiran.....the decals...

I was applying them and I dont know if its that they are old but they were very brittle...some on the hino's cracked on me...and the register was off too between the red centers and the white outline so the white seems a bit oblong...I guess some "creative" weathering should cover up these problems.

Knock on/touch wood, I have never ever had any decals crack on me!! I'm not say it will never happen of course but just have been lucky I spose! Hope all turns out well on your application!

Jason that's great looking work on the Ki-43 front office, is that in 48th or 72nd scale?

Chris Sign - Welcome [#welcome] aboard the build glad to have you along. By the way are you doing the dash 3 or dash 5 Hellcat?

Carlos that's a major bummer with the decals. Are you able to mask and repaint the hino's or maybe source some from an AM manufacturer?

Cheers

--edit-- Oops almost forgot, Stu the Rex, Kate and Helcat look awesome and I agree with the others that the salt gives that finer look.

Made some solid headway on the Ki-44 this week, so that it now looks like this.

I've drilled out the hand holds/cooling slots on the top of the forward fuselage, and replaced the plastic antenna post with a piece of flattened brass tubing that I am less likely to knock off! This still needs filing to shape though.

The fuselage to wing fit was not great, so I installed a spreader bar in the forward fuselage, but even then had to add a very small shim to the front edge of the joint on the starboard side. Having said that, have only used a smear of filler, and some Mr Surfacer on all the seams.

As you can see I haven't painted the pit yet, as there is precious little in there I'll apply a base coat of black, with a downward sprayed coat of Nakajima interior green to give a hint of cockpit colour.

Being an older kit the wheelbays are open, so I took some thin plasticard and boxed them in. A minor upgrade, but it stops the inside of the fuselage being visible from the wheel bays!

Dropped into my LHS yesterday to see if they had any Tamiya thinner, and found these at a 1/3 off.

Looks like I might have picked up at least another build for this GB!

Kj the ki-44 looks great! was wondering about the pit.

great pick up those to kits are gems. If you haven't built the Hasegawa raiden yet(sure you have) it is so much nicer than the Tamiya IMHO.
