JD, if i make a FUBAR, i leave the model for a good 48hrs. After that time, ive had time to kick the cat etc, and then is the best time to go back and asses the situation. We love ya man, be strong.

Frank, those wing lights look superb. What a great idea. the pit is looking stunning too. The way your going youll have the Zeke finished before my 'Bent winged one'

Talking of which, and seeing as you didnt answer my last question Whistling [:-^], I have a couple for you.

A. What colour would the drop tank be? The centre section of my plane is white.

B. There are 'Light' looking things on the top of the wings, with no instructional refs too. What are they?

C. The Lights on the U/side, what colour should they be~? And order (Fr to back)

Cheers, This plane is giving me the runaround something wrotten.

Frank, great job on the lights.

That pit looks a little 02 to me!Wink [;)]

JD, put it in the cupboard, and give it a few days as per Guy's suggestion.

We've all been there, witness my little Ki-44's troubled gestation!Black Eye [B)]

Speaking of the little Ki-44, it's almost done, with just the cannon, aerial mast, pitot and landing gear to go on.

I'm having to repaint the canopy, as the masking wasn't too successful, but it's os tiny it won't take long.

Thanks fellas!  You noticed that, huh Karl? Taped Shut [XX]  It's a custom mixed color for bamboo green, does have a bit of an RLM 02 shade.

Guy- What was the last question?  Don't remember one.  Gotta stop taking Mac's meds that he keeps sending me. Propeller [8-]  OK, here we go...

A. White

B. Those "light" looking things on top of the wings are formation lights, and they are blue.

C. The colors of the underwing lights F to B are Red, Green, Orange/amber.  Here's a link:

Cheers for that Frank. Taking the Sarges meds eh? Geez, you gotta be seriously desperate. I was chatting to him the other night/morning (AM his time) and at something like 5am he was still up and chatty. I worry about the boy. Perhaps he needs a train fix. Hes not been tooting his horn for a while has he?

Ive had the day to myself today and ive kicked some ***, if i say so myself. The Bent winged beast has been totally sprayed and partly wethered. I just have the engine wiring to do. Dont know why i left it till last but i have. Im off to work shortly. 6.00pm - 12.05am Booo. but all going well, there may be pics tomorrow.

Drop tank colors!  !  What are the Drop tank colors! Guy make sure you don't mistake those 3 bumps on the bottom Fuselage  behind the engine as lights? They  were drain plugs and accrss nuts for boresighting extc!  Drop tanks could be 3 tone as the Aircraft or medium blue tops!  Lots of lee way with Drop tanks!  I have even seen some OD!

Frank I thought that color was a custom job in the pit!  The diff between the Nakajima and the Mitsubishi colors would only be noticed by a dedicated genious! ( and my 13 year old) Mischief [:-,]Laugh [(-D]

Looking forward to how you handle the rest of the painting! Smart move on the wing lights they look superb!

Thanks Guy for worring about me I have been a bit off the mark lately that is certain!

Alright I am really confused... Evil Herc - I thought your name was Jason and Gerald is your Dad or is Gerald the Both as in Sr. & Jr. ?

Anyway Newcomer Gerald (I think) I like the 1/350 Trump. North Carolina you will be building . I have the same kit myself but plan on doing something different then building it as BB-55. Looking forward to seeing the start of your ship.

I did a buddy build with sfcmac with a 1/350 "Pola" kit and we went nuts building little details. We had to force ourselves to stop or we would have never finished them..

Frank, nice looking paint job on the FAA Corsair.

Given that it's an FAA bird, you have to spell theatre properly.Wink [;)]

The Ki-44 is almost done.

It's currently sitting on it's gear, waiting for the glue on the canopy to dry.

Few touch ups to be done tonight, then it's job done.

Hows the corsair coming? Geez im having nightmare. Im  at the wethering stage and alls going well. My planes modelled in the folded wing attitude, they are on and fixed. They are under a little stress but no biggie i reckon, I add a heavy oil wash to the inner wing ends (where the wing fold is) and burger me if both wings dont just shear off!!! Im not even joking. The plastic split both sides. Something in the oil wash dont like Corsairs, More stress Boo...Guy

Where are the pics? I love seeing the bad with the good! That way we can oooo and ahhhh at your sheer genius! When you overcome the adversity in some amazing way like you did on the G-55 tail and nose!  I thought you were a goner there in that build but I was wrong!

I do find it unusual that the wash would react that way given you have a coat of paint on the plastic as somewhat of a shield.  Again I have never heard ot that happening with Tamiya styrene before? Very odd indeed!

Guy, I know some mineral thinners will cause plastic to become brittle.

I am assuming that is what happened here.

Can you wire the wings into position?

The Ki-44 is almost done....

I just need to add an antenna wire, but I'll have to wait until the nav lights dry off properly first.

The canopy is probably the weakest part of this build. Last time I don't use Tamiya tape.Disapprove [V]

And here it is in company with a Raiden, which illustrates the difference in size.

I'll post some proper pics next week when it's all complete.

Karl! Those look fantasucalmastical!  Really a good comparison and a great looking build!

I wouldn't worry about Guy, He is a better wizard tan Harry Potter when it comes to fixing little set backs like disolved wings!  Watch and see! Give that man some Marmalade with some stale scones washed down with some hot tea and he will be right with the world again!  Maybe some cheese just to putty things up?

Guy's probably crying himself to sleep in half a pint of shandy as we speak, but I'm sure he'll be OK by tomorrow.

Balls to that LOL, I just finished work (Bus driver) ferrying the losers of Bournemouth around. Oh what joy. But i have been musing the problem and i think your right about the mineral thinners effecting the plastic. Im definately going to try to pin em though. My pin of choice being a staple cut short. That way it has a bit of give in it. I took a pic to show you where it broke,

And just for Frank, to prove im getting near the finish,

Guy- Man, that is a real bummer about the wing mounts!  Judging from the look of the plastic where it failed, i would say it was probably the thinner which did it.  Sounds like you have Plan B already in the works, that should take care of it! Approve [^]

I made some progress on the Zero today, getting it completely ready for paint.  Masked off the cockpit area, and spent many hours devising a paint stand for it!  They may look simple, but it takes a very long time to make one!  That is why they cost $349.99 retail for anyone wanting to purchase one. Whistling [:-^]
