I see some nice progress over here!  The USAF Museum has updated there site with more pictures, here's the one's about Bockcar.

"Bockscar" upon delivery to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, in 1961. The nose art was added sometime after the raid against Nagasaki.

"Bockscar" in storage at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., in 1959.

Aerial reconnaissance photo of Nagasaki, Japan, taken on Aug. 5, 1945. Military and industrial target areas are outlined and numbered

Boeing B-29 crew photo taken Aug. 11, 1945, two days after the Nagasaki mission. Note there is no nose art on the aircraft

"Bockscar" en route to Japan with the atomic bomb on board

"Bockcar" tail section, showing temporary markings replacing those of the 509th on Tinian to confuse the enemy.

Carlos that is just amazing and then to add the lights .WOW I've often thought of how you could put little colored fiber optic pieces (Like the ones on a bow sight) to use for the wing lights.

Jason: They were a lot easier to use than I thought...a simple LED is the source attached to a 9v battery then fish the fiber thru. I like the "map lights" in the pit...I was tired of doing all that PE work than never seeing it again..

Aaron, a complete sub in 48 hours!

It took me a month to build my Type XXI!

Despite you issues with the tattoos, sorry decals, it looks great.

Carlos, words fail me.

Stunning!

Dirk, great save, and great detail work, particularly in 1/72.

And I still haven't finished the Ki-44 due to that big Puma.

Carlos, shes a beauty, The lighting effects look great. Keep an eye on those elves though. Aaron had my Wingus and Dingus for months. Poor things were worn out and there was honey everywhere!

Jason, the UC and engine were detailed with my usuall mix of Van *** brown and thinners, Sloshed all about and then wipe off the excess (Oil paints btw) The ally for the legs was Alclad.

Dirk...You asked about how I did the weathering...I painted the whole thing grey green, which I mixed myself, I didnt like the colors that were available from tamiya or MM so I mixed MM acryilcs, then I hit the whole thing with testors dullcote which is enamel. After that dried well I painted the top Tam IJNgreen, acrylic. I let that dry a bit and then with a qtip dipped in windex i started to wear down panel lines and other areas I thought would take a beating. The good thing is if I wore down too much a bit of dry brushing with the green brought it back. when i was happy with the wearing I decaled, hightlighted with a silver colored pencil, dry brushed some silver then some dirty washes. Afterwards hit the whole thing with dullcote again settled everything down. Try it out..its not that difficult. Hope this helps...

Gentleman you have posted some awesome models.

Carlos-If you put that floatie in the right background it would look like areal aircraft. Thanks for the great info on your weathering.

Sorry for not posting. Here in the great South Pacific we have had Earthquakes, tsunamis, Super Typhoons and tons of rain & wind. Being with the USMC heavy transport KC-130J Squadron we are providing disaster relief. "We are from the US Goverment and are here to help." We have been working 12 on-12 off schedule, so not alot of modeling time available. Hopefully we get the supplies needed by the people to them quickly. As soon as the relief effort is complete & the weather complies with my wishes, I hope to get my poor lil green Kikka finished.

Kannichiwa, Jason

P.S. How do I get the badges to work in my signiture????

Herc-First off, the work you are doing to help the victims of the earthquakes, tsunamis and other weather events is far more important that gluing & painting plastic.  Thank you.  It's always good to know that there are people like you out there if & when we face disasters like that.

Secondly, its been awhile since I posted badges, but if memory serves me correct, I would save a copy of the pic/badge in my Photobucket account and then put the [IMG]...[IMG] link in my signature.  I'm thinking that I may have had to save the badge pic first on my hard drive before saving to Photobucket.  I never could figure out how to make a slide show, but then again, I'm lazy...

Jason,

Hope it settles down there for you soon!

I took a look at your signature line, and here is your problem.  Be sure to ignore the little asterisks in between the letters, these are neccessary to show what to type.  Please leave them out!  You have the [I*M*G] in front of the badge correct, but the one after the photo should be [/I*M*G*] and not [I*M*G].  Just add the appropriate "/", and you should be good. Thumbs Up [tup]

Hello, fellow modelers allow me to introduce myself to you.

I,m a disabled 54 yr old modeler and have been following your group build through my son evil-herk. He suggested that since I am working on a Trumpeter kit of the Battleship North Carolina that I consider asking your permission to join in the group build. I am awed at the builds that Ihave had the pleasure to veiw. I have just started on the N.C but would like to join in if it,s OK.

                                         Thanks,

                                         Thanks,

Hey DAD!!!! Sign - Welcome [#welcome] Welcome to the FSM Forums.

I finally talked him into joining and not be just a lurker. Most of you will probably get to know him as Gerald and I will probably call him by his name in the forum instead of DAD Whistling [:-^]. Frank I believe his kit is a 1/350 but I do not remember the manufacturer. My father was able to introduce & teach me this Hobby as a child. He had the patience to teach me what I could understand at the time, and had to laugh as I destroyed most of my earlier kits with bottle rockets up their bums & firecrackers for what was left over.Propeller [8-] I am not sure if in the 20yrs since that time, if my dabling in the hobby has brought him back from his long abcense or if it was just time. Dad enjoy your time in the forums & these gentleman are willing to teach you everything they know on making great looking models.

Frank- thanks for the tip on the Sig.

First of all, a big Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to Jason's Dad, er... I mean Gerald!  Hope you enjoy your time here.

Secondly, Jason, the mext thing you need to know about your signature is that there is a size limit which is why your second image is being cut off.  I hope you are staying out of harms way out there.  I sure appreciate what you guys do.  Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]

Thanks Gents for your support and well wishes. I seem to have the hardest & easiest job I have ever had at the same time. I have had the Honor of serveing as a USMC & i now train these young Marines to work on Full scale aircraft as a civilian. Working on aircraft is easy but training Marines is/can be hard & painfull. I guess I get to look into the mirror and see how I was as an FNG. The young Marines I train are the real hereos, they work hard, launch, recover, fix, fuel and start the cycle over daily on aircraft that seem to be needed everywhere. A Marines work is never done.

JD-hate to see you leave.  Take a step back, assess the situation, post pics and ask for assistance, if needed or desired.  I know that I've soaked models in Castrol Super Clean and repainted more times than I can remember.  And remasked and repainted.  And....well, you get the picture.

jd- Hate to see you leave friend!  No chance of saving the build?

I did some more work to the Zero, replacing the clear parts with sections of green toothbrush handle for the starboard side, and pieces of red acrylic from little heart shaped beads found at the craft store. Kisses [:X] LOL

I also removed the band-aid, so that Aaron can see I replaced that 109 office with a proper Nakajima one! Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]
