Open the bag of resin and sniff .... that'll really get you going !!!

This is how it always starts.
I chose the Tamiya M4A3 because I wanted a pretty simple build. I started thinking about it I already have aTamiya M4A3 complete on my shelf, so I now want to do a M4A3 76mm Sherman. Now I need the right turret. I just happen to have an Italeri kit with the 76mm gun. Now that's fine, but I was at the LHS and just had to get a Jordi Rubio barrel and a couple of resin figures, oh and some individual track links which may or may not go on the Sherman.
I'm almost sure that I will add even more by the time it's done, but isn't that what model building is all about.Smile [:)]
Trevor Where am I going and why am I in this handbasket?

Aftermarket is a gateway drug. Pretty soon you'll be looking for that extra jump you get from photoetch, then dry transfer markings. Soon you'll be traveling down that sordid, decrepit path, panhandling for styrene so you can scratchbuild in some sleezy back alley. Only to end in a pile on some hobbyshops bathroom floor, covered in your own plastic shavings, clutching a tube of ca glue in one hand, magnifiers on your forehead and a reference book with interior drawings in the other.
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh the pity.............

OK gang .... the website is up and running.

I'll have to change your page Trevor to the 76 version though.

Anyway ... the address for the site is:
http://members.shaw.ca/ShermanGroup/

Completed pictures can be e-mailed to me at :
ShermanGroup@shaw.ca

These addresses will be on my sigtag for the duration of the build. Just click on the picture for a clearer view.

wow, awesome job robert!!

hmm, about pictures.... my sisters digital camera bit the dust about 2 weeks ago, and she ain't getting another one, and doesn't want to go in on one with me. I'd love to get one, but its too much for me, because I'm saving for a vehicle. I'll for sure have completed pictures as there enough people around that have digital cameras but I probably won't be able to get lots of buildup pictures.

Mark - quite easy ... I ask my wife to do them for me !!!! Laugh [(-D]

Actually ... I did do most of the grunt work on these graphics.
Using Arcsoft Photostudio, I take a picture of the vehicle and trim it as close to the vehicle as possible removing the entire background. I then applied an embossing filter to the picture and added a tinge of green to it. Resized it and caleed it up as a background for the pages.

Chris - as far as build pictures go, they would go on a different site anyways. With over 30 builders going on this one, I'll only be hosting 4 or 5 completed pics of each model or I'll rapidly run out of space.

Chris I am sorry to hear about your sisters camera. I do not have a digital camera myself, but were I work does have one. Another method if you have a scanner. Use a standard camera and scan the pictures onto your computer, then upload onto Ron's or some other hosting website.

Wow Robert, I just checked out the website for the build. Very innovative and inspiring. I love the touch of using a wall paper for each of the different builds specific to the kit we chose to bring to the table.

Guys, (and girl) this is going to be fun.

I have now kicked into overdrive to clear the bench to get ready for this build.

yeah I might do that, but I like being able to see what you got right after you take the picture.

I was rreading aboout your group build and the Tank i found was already takenSad [:(] but alas I think i came up with a idea!!!! I am going to use that kit as the platform to copy my all time favorite tanker hero's sherman. a.k.a "Odd Ball" from "Kelly's Hero's" So I am in. hmm I wonder if this has been done before?Question [?]

Hey Sherm, the site looks great! My son, Alex (14) is also interested. This will be his first time making indi-link tracks on an old DML M4A3E8. He's also going to make his first full interior (minus engine compartment) I'll have him log in when he has some time after school tomorrow. You can just post his photos with mine if you'd like... I don't know what he'll choose for a site name yet.

Seems I missed a lot.... went on break on page 8 and come back on 18! C'mon Jan 15!

It doesn't matter if the version you were going to do is taken, there are a couple of duplicates already and this group build didn't have rules against it. so what you do doesn't matter if its a duplicate. we just want to see the different workmanship of each model.Smile [:)]Cool [8D]

Domi - sounds great to have the Missus join in (assuming you can convince her). I'm a little surprised Tena hasn't stepped up to the plate. I notice she's a Shermangirl.

Andytank - welcome aboard !!!! As already pointed out, it doens't matter if a kit has already been "taken" or not. There's lots of duplication when a build like this happens. As far as Oddball's Sherman goes, Dostacos is going to do that one but it might be kind of neat to see 2 different people's take on it. There's some good inof on it about 4 or 5 pages back in this thread.

Poniatowski - see what happens when you take a couple of days off !!!! Good to have Alex on board !!!

I'm going to be doing a few tweaks to the front page of the site .... just to make things a little easier. Glad you all like the looks so far. Thanks.

Tena has started working on her M36 (AFVClub) but at the moment, she's finishing a 1/35 Su-100. With the clothes and the boys and the TV, the music and the Game Cube, I'm not sure where scale modeling rates... We'll see! I'll try but can not promise anything!
