Cosmic J - My 262 is OOB also. I've been lagging behind but the cockpit is finished. I'm embarassed to show pictures of it after seeing the amazing work going on here.  http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4001/4193092181_951b86cece_o.gif

I know, right? I got the same problem. I must admit to being humbled by the work in this thread so far.

That's not easy to to when you consider the size of my ego.

jmabx Thanks, i am just getting back into aircraft, this is only my second since my return to the hobby. I only do 1/72nd aircraft, firstly as thats what i started on in the hobby and have just stuck to it, and second as i always build my kits as Dio's. i just find it easier for space and all the extra bits to go with them.

Looking good Bish!  I forgot you were doing it in 1/72 till I saw it on the Tamiya stand.

No need to ask forgiveness, I love an OOB build from time to time!  Looking forward to your photos.

   Wow Steven... great lookin' Schwalbe!!!

The extra work with the flaps payed off but what I really like is the open radio(?) hatch.  Adds some interest you don't usually see.

Nicely done, Aggieman. The repositioning of the control surfaces and the slats looks cool. Looking forward to seeing the dio.

Superb work, Aggie! This model has an excellent balance of the qualities one looks for in a well-done model today -- color, style, features, attention to historical detail, and a convincing visual appeal. VERY NICE!

Cheers, Mike/TB379 (who will get back to his own A-1a in the new year)

Very, VERY nice work Steven!   like your choice of colors, what did you use?  I went ahead and marked this one "completed" on page 1, but can update that later when you post your dio photos.  Love this build!!! Bow Down

My entry for this group build is complete but my work with this kit is not.  More on that later.

The pictures:

So what I plan to do with is build is to put it into a diorama with a bunch of jerry cans and barrels, the kettenkraftraud sitting to the side, a camouflage net pulled from a frame that had provided cover for this warbird, wooden planking that the 262 is parked upon, and a US Army jeep with a bunch of soldiers inspecting their find in the forest.  That is still a work in progress so no pictures yet.

Randy,

By all means, do not worry too much about the end date.  All of the GB's I have run have been extended to varying degrees!  As long as you are having fun and building an ME-262, that is all that matters!  And, thank you for the compliment- I am glad you liked it.  Thinking about doing the other kit in the box, or possibly even the 262B next.

WOW !! I have been kind of lurking here watching all these builds and man I gotta tell you all, the quality of builds in this group is mind boggeling ! My hat is off to all of you ToastBow Down

But I do have to say Daywalker man you are a sick crazy builder, that micro mini 262 is just over the top man ! I mean I get a headache just thinking about trying a build that small. You da man Daywalker.

I do still wish to build my 262 but dont know if I can finish it by the end date. So if I miss that date I will be building using the how toos from this group. Maybe I can come close to the standard and quality I have seen here. I hope to start mine the end of January.

Mike- Sorry, I think you're right about the launchers.  I checked over at CyberModeler and looked at all of the kit parts of their different releases, and didn't see them anywhere.

Steven- That is some serious conversion work, looking very good indeed! Yes

It's been a while since I posted here, but in the meantime I've been able to put in a couple of hours a night after work at the bench.  Here are the latest pictures I took, which takes my build diary up to pre-painting and does not tell the full story.  I have since completed the painting and am currently adding all the fiddly bits to put the finishing touches on this build.  But I don't have pictures of that yet, as I'm waiting until I'm done before I get the camera back out there.

Doh!  It  was the W.Gr. launchers I was hoping for.  I don't think Trumpy includes these on any of their kits, looks the Hasegawa will have to donate them.

Thanks fellas, glad you liked her!  Already considering buying the 1/144 ME-262B-1a.

Mike- I did get the Heavy Armament version, and it does come with the R4M rocket launchers, but not the WGr rocket mortars sometimes mounted under the fuselage.  It does, however, come with drop tanks too.

Great work Frank, looks like 1/72 scale! Big Smile

Hey did you get the Heavy Weapons version of the Trumpy 262?  If so, does it come with rocket launchers?  I want to do one with these but my version doesn't have them so I might pick up that version if it does.  Could steal them from my Hasegawa kit too, I'll have to see what they look like.

Excellent work on the engines Fred, looks fantastic.

Frank I always enjoy seeing your work and you've come up trumps again. I can only admire such a result in something so small Bow Down

Ditto the above praise, Frank -- that's an amazing exercise in miniature work. With my eyesight I don't think I could tackle the truly teensy anymore, I'm building bigger these days

Stupendous, my friend -- you made that lil sucker look like the real deal, it's a shock to realise just how tiny it is!

Cheers, Mike/TB379

Frank, some awesome work there and in such a small scale. That would have me seeing double for a week. Hats off to a nicely completed itsy bitsy 262. Toast

Thanks again, guys Cool.  Last night I built the other engine, but leaving off all the doo-dads.  I built it strictly for structural purposes.  It's such a releif not sanding or painting - just building for the sake of building.  But the fit of the nacelles is absolutely a nightmare.  For whatever reason, they don't fit nearly as well as the clear ones.  The clear ones almost fell together; these, I had to fight tooth and nail.

Frank, that is some killer work.  I can barely get that kind of result in 1/48, let alone micro-scale.

OK, I am calling this one finished!  After struggling with all of the landing gear parts (All 15 of them!!!) I decided to ignore the brake line of the front strut.  Also left off most of the antennas as I broke off a few bits adding the landing gear.  I did make a tiny loop antenna for the spine, but that's it.
