Thanks Bish!!! Yeah I have looked it over well and was really impressed with it!!! So much I am going to take the plunge and commit tonight and hope to finish before the end of May!!!!!! Was out buying paints yesterday and today. With 12 different schemes to choose from I am bewildered!!! However, i think I might go with the box art(#1), #3, #7, or Galland's#12. Hard choices!! I am leaning towards Gallands plane for the tie in to the 190 build which I plan on the Academy 190D for but love the REALLY mottled schemes of the others!! Anyways will break sprue soon!! Pics soon!!

I know what you mean about choice of markings. I plan on useing the white 7 markings on my Hasa 262 then getting another Academy kit and doing red 13, i really like that aircraft. That really is a nice kit, better than the Hasagawa one, can't wait to see yours.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

I started this build with the last Me 262; the S-92, so it would only be proper to end it with the first, the Me 262 V-1 prototype.

The High Planes kit in 1/72, a little gem.

Kind of cool, I think.

Thanks Frank for doing such a good job with the GB, and you guys are all modelers I'm envious of for your skills.

Very well done Bill, I was afraid I wouldn't get to see that one built!  I have never seen the prototype built before.  I always enjoy seeing your work, as it is usually something we never see built.  Also good to see the first and the last one here together, WELL DONE!

You know... I was thinking about that last night!  Two weeks from now it is the beginning of May, would it be terrible to start it up on May 1st, overlapping this GB for a month?  Your thoughts?

Glad to hear you guys enjoyed this one, I really am thrilled to see so many talented builders come together in one place to build models and learn about the aircraft, it's what modeling is to me.  Thank you all! Bow Down

Welcome Signback Frank!!! Yes, for myself, I think that would be fine with me to overlap the builds!!! I have an Airfix Dora and an Academy A, but I saw Academy's Dora with Galland markings and also have Galland markings with the 262. Hard to decide which 262 I want to do as there are 12 to choose from! Anyway, seeing the butcher birds being built will hopefully encourage me to hurry up with the Schwalbe! Got the paints I need and getting started, have broken sprue so pics soon to come. Frank, or anyone, what colors did or do you guys use for the brown violet? I have Tamiya XF-10 flat brown, and Humbrol 98 chocolate, which are both cross referenced as suitable, or I might take a trip to Melbourne and hit one of the LHS there andget MM or Polly Scale.

May 1 for sure, Frank!!!

I stay up late at night tossing and turning as I debate the 1/48 Hasegawa 1A5 vs the Eduard A8 vs the Dragon 190G2/3...

Decisions, decisions....

Bish, thanks for the encouragement, and feel free to use that camo scheme.

Bondo, inspired build, and a stunning looking NMF!.

Looks like the E100 should be done this weekend, finally, which means I can actually start on the 262!

Only about 6 months late.Confused

Frank, Welcome Signback, hope you had a great time. May 1st for RD3 is fine by me, I'm all kitted up and ready to go.

Bondo. Marvellous job on your prototype 262, a job very well done Yes

Richie I cant really help with the paint as I'd use the Gunze Aqueous for that colour, Polly Scale 505070 is supposed to be RLM81 if you want to get some of that.

Cheers...

Roger that fellas, we'll start RDIII on May 1st!  I shall do some admin work on it this weekend, and have a GB badge done by Monday.  Also, for those of you who expressed interest in the past, I shall be sending out a PM to you all with a link to the new thread.  This is gonna be a lot of fun!!!

Richie- To be perfectly honest, I have never found a good match for the brown violet.  On the first little 262 I built, I ended up painting it with a home made concoction that I didn't like, so resprayed it a couple of times with overcoats until it looked alright.  Even after all of that, I still wasn't 100% satisfied with it.  Sorry I am not much help to you!

Thanks, Mike and Frank!!! Not to the camo stage yet so going to a shop later that might have what I need. If not might concoct something. Looking forward to seeing these new builds for RDIII !!!!!Toast

Well have had a good bit of bench time today and got the nosewheel and strut and retraction jack painted. Will get the front part of the fuse buttoned up in the morning and glue wheel to the strut, then set the assembly and door aside till after the camo goes on.

I used Tamiya gloss black on the hub and Humbrol satin black on the tire, is this ok or do I need to lighten the satin a bit?

And the strut

This going to be a strict OOB build so I can finish before the end of May. If I can do that I might get more than one done this year!WhistlingPropeller

Looks fine the way it is. When I did my wheels on the V-1, I got lazy and dropped a dot of Future on the matt black for the rim. Worked like a charm.

Hey Simpilot, When painting tires, I generally use a base coat of black then highlight with panzer grey. This helps bring out the tread pattern of the tire.

Thanks guys!!! Was puttting the fuse together earlier today and was pressing and prodding to try and get the tightest fit as I could...... heard a lil 'plik'...... what the hell was that........ACCCCKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!! I had cracked a forward section of the fuse that I would say was weakened by the liquid cement!!! Only explanation I can come up with!!, Anywhooo, not a worry but just a shock lol sanding will take care of it as i repositioned the offending area and went to work so just have to make the area conform.Whistling GONNA finish by the end of MAY regardless.

Bummer, Richie! But great attitude to get it done by May. I may not have the same restraint. The aircraft may have been lost in a test flight....Whistling

LOL well I'm glad I'm not the only one it's happened to at least!!!Toast Going to have to do a wee bit of filling on the fuse join so will get some more pics soon. Nothing serious mind you just enough to hide the seams. REALLY looking forward to getting to the paint stage!!!!!! Finally, since I started modelling, I will be able to do a feathered edge german mottled camo in scale.

Hey SP, working on a P-38 that I just noticed I'd snapped one of the booms on. Yep, not the only one things like that happen too. Looking forward to seeing the camo on your 262.

Daywalker, think I'll be doing a few 190's, just wish I could work an A-3 into this build, but I'll be happy building the longer A-8, or the longer still D-9, or even the longest ovem' the Ta152. Looking forward to starting on one. Heck might as well ask now, Would it be possible to get an extension...?

Geez... asking for an extension already?  LOL, I think we can do that.  If that is what it takes to see your work there, consider it done. Wink

Well got a bit more done, and fighting with myself. I really want to slap it together and paint it, but am restraining and want it to look decent so I can enter it in the OOB category at the modelexpo in June. In saying that, as long as I finish it before the show I will be happy, nonetheless shooting for the end of May deadline I originally planned on. Here are a few shots of my progress thus far.

The forward and aft fuse bits

closeup of some sheet tabs I added for security of bond and to help in the alignment of the two section's butt joint.

Empanage attached and now have to srt out the seams, the joint of the tail which is highly visible on the fuse.

And a sort of size comparison with my Jake floaty thing.

When the seams are sorted then will progress a bit more. Thanks for looking and really want to paint this sucker lol!!
