Hey Frank, I was hoping to build Barkhorn's JG/6 ride. Don't know if JG6 would technically qualify as "Home Defense" unit, as they fought mainly on the Eastern front.  I do have options of an aircraft from JG301 with HD bands.

Mo- No problem buddy, I don't worry too much about those technicalities!  By all means, I would love to see Barkhorn's JG 6 ride.  Funny... I just received a autographed photo of Barkhorn in the mail I bought online for my collection.  That, and the book I am reading right now by Helmut Lipfert of JG.52 mentions Barkhorn's name quite a bit.  I suddenly feel an urge to build one of his mounts as well...

Smoothed the wingroot MG door's. That's some tough sanding with sandpaper.

[View:/themes/fsm/utility/DSC_0038:550:0]

Drilled the MG's and that little scoop forward of the supercharger intake. Shot a coat of primer on it.

[View:/themes/fsm/utility/DSC_0042:550:0]

Hope to have paint on this one by the weekend if all goes well.

 Mo.

Has the deadline been extended?

If so then I might be able to fit Oskar Boecsh's Fw-190A8/R2 in this build.

Don't do it though, I don't even have the kit lol.Smile

No way Julez yours looks spot on mate. Funny how you aked for pictures as I was just uploading some onto photobucket!

Still not finished but I've got her up on her legs, Mainly just some little bits to add, main issue is the spinner which is just pushed on here, I mucked up the spiral decal so I've got some spiral masks on order.

I had a real struggle getting the landing gear set up straight, it still feels a little fragile Tongue Tied

Cheers...

Satch....is that a "Charlie in the Box" in the background?

I have several "Rudolph" figures as well. At Christmas, my tree has a whole section devoted to "Rudoplh" figures. Of course, a retired Marine would never openly admit this...so just a secret between us guys...lol

John- Great to see you my friend!  Yes, the deadline has been extended and I am looking forward to seeing your build!

Julez- Mmmmm... great work on the bottom too.  I have yet to try one of those paint/NMF late war birds, but I am itching to do so.

Mike- I gotta be honest... I just bought some decals for "blue 8" after seeing your work.  I love that plane! Stick out tongue

Julez, the D-9 you've built is awesome. I really like the bare metal finish on the lower wing panels. Top notch work!

Spike, outstanding looking 190. I like the JG5 "Eismeer" planes. You've got a great looking one there.

Both look spectacular! Thanks for posting

Spike190,

Stunning work mate!

Excellent job on finishing your Fw-190. The exhaust stains are subtle & very realistic.

(stopped in for a lurk, still no start on mine as been bogged down with work and little time to finish current Hetzer project)
