welll Im finally done with the paint!! and im very suprised the paper masks worked so well, Im adding the bits and pieces praying the carpet monster is pleased with what he has already stolen

Well got the white primer done, and for better effects I'm also doing a gloss black primer to smooth things out between colors and to give it a real nice finish

Great to see some WIP on here! Can't wait to see more. I am starting to get some time back at the bench. I have been working a lot of extra shifts for the Holidays.....bad thing is I am usually too tired and unmotivated to get any work done....the bonus is the extra $$$$! I am going to take a jet break and build some Japanese AC for the 70th anniversary Pearl Harbor GB. Then I have the JUGS and Long gone builds. But I should be able to get the other Vipers built before October!! Keep the pics coming.

Thanks now when im taping things down for paint, what should i do for the tamiya type canopy which has the sprue to support it in the open position

No gap between the wing and the pylon.  Make the fit as close as possible, but do not fill as the wing and pylons are separate pieces.  Here are some of the best pics I have of the F-16 with pylons.

hank you now one other question. do the point where the wing is connected to the pylon have an obvious gap or should i fill and sand it smooth?

Some nice work going on there in your Falcon Factory!  While you're right about the 1/48th kit, the 1/72 is an Italeri repop so stay away.  I had a 1/48th in the stash, but there was a RIF when I decided to build 1/72 only.  I can only provide shots of the port side main gear bay, but I would imagine the starboard side is similar.

 I may have more, let me do some digging. These should get you pointed in the right direction.

sorry right as i got the kit ready.. my camera broke so i had to continue with no pictures. I believe I'm almost ready for the first coat of paint. i would like to say that Tamiya is a god of kits, barely any if at all seam lines are showing which makes this the dream kit even the air intake gave no problems this is my first tamiya kit, and first kit with tamiya paints, I love both of them. i never paint pilots but im glad i did, only now i have a resiin seat which looks good and a pilot that looks great ( my first resin seat as well) and i cant decide between pilot and no pilot any ways to keep from tail dragging i slipped  two balls of tape filled with BBs under the intake and if i have too behind the radome hheres all the pics..BRACE YOURSELF!!!!!

FINALLY i got started on the cockpit and the landing gear bays I'll be posting pictures soon!!!! SO ready to get going finally!!

well after waiting patiently for months i gave up on tamiya and ordered a diverse range of paints for alot andi even spoiled myself with a resin ejection seat( need some pointers its my first) cant wait to start anxiety builds as the paint head my way!!!!

No problem. Can't wait to see that kit finished. Sorry I haven't responded until now. Busy busy here. I am hoping to get some build time back into my daily schedule. I haven't sat at the work bench in about 1 1/2 months!!! How is the tooling on that bird? Most of my stash is made up of Hasegawa and Kinetic kits. I just rounded my f-16 stash out with the hard to find but all so worth it F-16D "Brakeet" from hasegawa with the dorsal spine!!! Total Ebay gold! Keep up the work.

Realized a couple of days ago that I asked to join at the beginning, but never told you what kit.  If it's not too late, I'd like to toss the newest Revell Germany F-16A MLU kit into the fray.  This is the bird

This is where I'm at.

The join of the intake scoop isn't as bad as it looks in the photo, but it's not pretty.

col gray- I am building the same kit, but modeled after the Block 42 from Nellis. Its the blue flanker scheme one.  The kit is a quick build, really no issues found!  I wasn't counting rivets, but the parts fit excellent. I added the Aires cockpit...and that fit was troublesome, really didn't want to fit the airframe.

okay I haven't uploaded picture of the WIP till now, but here are some. as of now I am priming the body

the engine has 36 parts to it.. Im looking to possible run some better wiring to touch it up a little better.. As well on major fuselage parts you have to use screws to hold part together. Im not to fond of it. plus the nose cone has a fitment issues.

 I'll be building a block 30 F-16 representing 18th aggressor squadron of 354th based at Eielson AFB, Alaska..any tips or special pics of details not normally seen would be helpful..

Ill also be buying a 3wiredesign diroama for the first time to see the way it can turn out along with a Hasewaga ground crew set

Theres only one problem my airbrush of 4 years had its last odel a few weeks ago and is now dead...What are good recomendations for a gravity fed airbrush which will last a long time and can be cleaned very easily?

ColGray: Yes Welcome aboard!!!! I can't wait to see it. I saw the very same kit at my HL too. If I was into 1/48 I would have picked it up myself. Looks like a great kit. I will add you to the front page.

I have been trying to wrap up my other builds before embarking on the F-16N. I did manage to get the stand figured out. I will have to post a pic her soon.

Everyone else's builds are coming along nice. I will start posting more completed pics when possible. Keep it up.

Yes this 1/32 F-16CJ is Hugh. Not to mention that let alone the engine had 36 parts. on another note has anyone made their own decals from that decal film that you can use in your ink jet printer. I've been thinking of going with this sceme for my F-16

I was just skimming through a hobby lobby when i noticed a 70 dollar tamiya 1/48 scale aggressor viper on sale for 30 so of course i couldnt pass up the oppertunity!!

Ill be doing either the Navy Miramar with blue camo or the Alaska black gray wwhite camo

Yeah Chewy, that's the Tamiya kit. Kinda wished I'd bought the 1/32 version but that would have been too expensive not to mention, HUGE!!

In September, our local club will most likely decide on it's next group build for the IPMSUSA Nationals in 2012.  I'm going to float the idea of F-16 operators around the world.  I'd like to have one of every country represented, however I can't find decals for Morroco, Oman and Pakistan.  Anyone know where I can find them in 1/72?  I'd even take 1/48 and scale them down.

During the weekend I started my build back up. I will have to post photos of the build; I've just been crazy with working two jobs and what not.

The fit of the Hasegawa droptanks wasn't brilliant, they got the putty and sanding treatment today... Just moving along slowly with it.

Ok, Viper all done! I found this quite a complicated build, the body and make up of the F-16 seems to be quite a fiddly design compared to other jets I've made. Possibly to do with the exhaust intake in the position it's in. Initially this was going to be a 1/32 build but the cost was too much for me to afford so I scaled down to 1/48 but still kept the same amount of AM. Not sure if I want to in the future build such a complicated AM heavy build in 1/48 for a while! Also the "carpet-monster" got the port landing light that should be on the side of the intake.

T-bolt: You are officially in and on the 1st page. As far as the intakes go, I agree they are very hard to work around. For my Netz I painted the white after assembly, but primed it prior. Then I masked the leading edge off to paint that thin grey area. Can't wait to see you build.

Here is a cool pic I found. I really love the different shades of grey on this war  weary bird. I also like th loadout. 2 LGB and a JDAM.

Thanks, STFD -- it looks a very nice kit, the only fiddly buit looks like the intake as the painting provisions have to start well before assembly.

I've glued the first few bits and ordered the paint for the cockpit interior, three more Acryls needed for the rest of the plane...
