Thanks STFD, I got the badge all figured out now!

A bit more work on the Falcon, the Cockpit fit horribly.  I slid it into position and test fit the 2 halves together....if I didnt also test fit the canopy at this time I would have been screwed. For some reason, teh cockpit tub is too thick on the bottom and the ejectin seat is too tall for the canopy to fit closed over it!  A lot of slicing was reuired to get the bottom of teh Cockpit tub to get it to fit properly. The allignment tabs for the cockpit also had to be sanded down bofore an aceptable fit was achieved. Here is the image of teh hacking required on teh cockpit tub bottom!

due to the poor fit, a bit of creative thinking was required to get the cockpit fited with teh canopy closed. I first glued on the canopy to the top half of the fuselage, inverted the piece and dropped in teh tub before clamping it in between the bottom half of the fuselage piece. This made sure the cockpit was alligned properly and that I could have the canopy closed.

Owl- First off great job on the cockpit!! Glad to see someone getting something started.....wish I could be so active! As far as the Badge if you have photobucket you can load int onto your account and edit as needed. Feel free. I will see what I can do from my end if you have problems.

I am looking to get something started here soon. The seats are in.....I actually got a couple. I find that even the Hasegawa kits lack the detail of the resin ones. As long as the seat looks decent I am usually pretty happy.

Keep up the work guys.

Is there a way to make the GB badge smaller?  It takes up a bit of space in the Signature, and I would like it to match my other badge. Is there a way to do that on Photobucket at all?

I'm awake, I'm awake!!!!  I understand your frustration...been there.  I haven't had time to work on my Sufa lately, but have been getting it in order amongst my other builds in work.  Funny you mention cockpit detail.  I started the Sufa a few months back, before our move.  I guess I forgot that I had finished the interior because I thought I would be smart while shopping (since I couldn't build for awhile) and bought the Eduard detail set.  But I can't use it!!!!!  Huh?

its been a bit quiet here....but lets see if I can get you guys woken up!

Ive started construction on the F-16. Here are the cockpit shots. The cockpit tub had no detail because Academy thought it would be a good I dea to use decals instead. NOT!   The decals were not accurate and they didnt fit! Bang Head  It took a fair amount of cursing before I just said "FINE" and left it as it was. From tests fits, You wont be seeing the detail much at all, so...whatever.

The pilot figure was nice; Since I was doing a display bird, I made him waving to the crowd as he taxies along.

I saw "Vipers" and was wondering how many kits and variant paint schemes from the BSG fighter could be done to make a GB.

D'oh!  Forgot about the newer nickname for the F-16.

Are late arrivals okay?  I'd need a month or so to make sure I can commit to another GB with an end date next year, but I have some Hasegawa F-16s that came in a few months ago and this would be great motivation to get familiar with the kit before building the Thunderbirds version for my uncle.

thanks for the help STFD, i got the badge now! Smile

IN other news, me decals arrived!!  But I am going to have to change my decals from the South Dakota ANG to another ANG unit from either Ohio or California....I got that decal sheet instead.  I could have sworn I clicked on the South Dakota ANG when I ordered, but looking through the order trail it said I ordered this sheet instead. I'm really confused!  Tongue Tied

Hutchhd- Got you on the list. I actually had 2 threads for this. One for the survey to find any interest. The second (this one) is the official build thread. The "Sufa" is looking great! I can't wait to dig into my own 1/72 kit. All the humps and bumps really beef up the Viper!

"owl"- I got the correct version down for you. I don't blame you with forgoing the Academy decals. I had a recent experience with a "Banshee" kit. Was a little suprised at the decals because the kit was so nice!

I haven't got to dig into my builds for this yet. Still finishing up 2 other builds.Bang Head Hopefully in the next week I will be starting the "Netz." Keep the pictures coming!

Travis

P.S. I have posted the GB badge on the first post. If anyone has trouble copying it let me know.

Is this group build still open?  I had thought this build would not start until December and I guess I got dropped off the list.  A few months back, I put on hold my 1:48 Kinetic Sufa, until I heard when this would start.  I am about half done with and started the camo paint.  I was in a hurry to lay down the first coats and in my haste discovered I did not pre-shade as I had planned rendoring the paint scheme somewhat flat.  I will have to works some magic to bring it to life.

With my other build winding down, I should be able to start on my Viper soon!  It will be a 'C' version, not an 'A'.  I ordered decals too, knowing of the reputation Academy Decals have...and I didn't really want to do the only scheme included in the kit.   The Decals will be for the South Dakota ANG,  "Lobos"

CallSignOWL- The differece between the C and A models, as far as we are concerned, is the exhaust pipe, intake (I think), and the for sure the vertical stabilizer. I will post some pics for you as I am building both versions in this GB. It also had some advanced avionics added to it. We now have the Block 30-50 series. Every new version has added some extra weapons abilities etc.

Hi Guys

Well, after a tumultuous 2010 including moving jobs, moving interstate and various other excitements, I am ready to start modelling again.

Last year several group builds fell by the wayside, but yesterday I purchased the superb 1/48 Tamiya F16 C/N Adversary, and would love to add it to this group build, I thinking the Arctic scheme, but may go with the temperate one yest - will decide.

Anyway, please count me in !

I thought i was on the quick list for this GB?  Oh well! I'm still interested, I was wondering when this was going to take off!

Can you put me in for the Academy 1/48 scale F-16 A/C?  I havnt figured out which model of the f-16 I'll do yet. I think the only markings included are for the A version....
