Great job Travis!  The camo looks quite menacing.  Especially that the plane is all loaded with weapons.  Nice build.

Well....It is finished....sort of! I need to go back and do some touch up. Here are the pics of the Netz. I pretty happy with the finished product. I free handed the camo using Polly Scale Acrylics. The weapons, except for the drop tanks and wingtip sidewinders are from Skunk Models Isreali Weapons set (highly recommned). I would still like to get the paint toned down with a grey mist overcoat, but the Airbrush is not cooperating right now. Here are the pics. Next up is the F-16N.

The weapons look good Travis,.  I've been itching to build a viper but I'm in school right now and working on an F-18F for the Hornet's Nest GB.  I might be back when I'm done with the hornet.

Casper: No prob. I completely understand. I will change the feed accordingly!.

On another note, I was pretty happu with my paint job. I went to add the Gloss coat from a "rattle can" and for some strange reason I had a strange build up yellow on one area of one of the wings. I was able to mend it, but needless to say I was fumming!Bang Head I also got the initial panel wash done. Hope to have some more pics tonight or tomorrow.

Hi Travis, I think I may have to scale down my build. Instead I'd like to do the Tamiya 1/48 Block 50 with AM. Will cost about a third of what the 1/32 was going to cost. Just found out one of our chihuahuas has cancer and we may have to look at chemo. That will take a bit out of the stash budget.

Cheers

All right I have some time off and actual down time recently so I focused completely on the Netz. did some fine touch up on the camo and started to add the landing gear.

I am trying some "new" things for me:

I am planning on Tone the plane down in the end with a thinned mist of sky grey to get more scale effect. I have read about this an am interested in seeing how it looks. I will be keeping my fingers crossed!Tongue Tied I have the panel wash down now and will use it for this kit as well. I also plan on airbrushing some thinned Tamiya smoke in some areas (another thing picked up from FSM).

I used the grey mist effect on the ordanance and it looks better than just the semigloss look they had.

As always any feedback is appreciated and welcome!

Thanks again. Once this kit is finished I will be moving on to my F-18A for the Hornets Nest GB!

Perfect.  Thank you!!!!  That Cybermodeler website was exactly what i was looking for.  Thank you very much.  Let me know if i can be of any help to you in the future.

No problem at all.  Cybermodeler is a great resource.  Check out http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/ too.  Another great site.  They don't have the same info as cybermodeler but they have plenty of walkaround photos.

The different Block variants of the Viper can be very confusing.  Here are a couple links that may help.  It is usually some kind of upgrade/change made to the original design.

Can someone explain the hole Block thing to me?  Like I am building a F-16E Block 60 and i have allways woundered what the hole block thing is.  So if someone could explain that would be awsome or point me in the direction if its been brought up allready.

Thanks,

Goodness: Welcome. Can't wait to see this kit. I have been looking at the 1/72 scale kits. I haven't heard very much about them....but they are the only Advance "block50+" Vipers. I will add you to the list.

Hello,

Looking to join up, just purchased Kinetic's 1/48 F-16E Block 60 Single-Seater Desert

Still waiting for it to show up.  The F-16 is one of my favorite planes and this will be the first time building one.

Finally with the man cave finished I have got some work done on the Netz. I finished up with the weapons (2 Python AA missles, 2 Sidewinders, and some LGBs to finish it off.)

I also started with the upper camo scheme, still needs some fine tuning.

Hope everyone else is moving along on there builds. Seems like we all have our hands full with GB (lots of similar names on all the different GBs) Stick out tongue

Comments welcome as always. This is my first Isreali paint scheme and I have to say I really like the colors.

John,

I am sorry to here about your family health issues. I hope all turns out well. Of course there is no problem. The whole point of these GBs is to have fun, share building experiences, and get ideas.

Family always comes first with me! Take care of yours. Best of luck.

Owl, I'm a PhD student and also teach/lecture at the local university. I'm lucky, in Australia graduate students are paid for extra work they do, a lot of other countries work is expected and usually gratis! Both the scholarship and teaching pays nicely and not having any kids and a cheap mortgage means I have a bit of disposable income. But $400 is pushing it and I won't be letting my partner know how much I dropped! Wink

Cheers

damn, Casper. 400 dollars?!?!  What do you do for a living to be able drop all that $$$ on a model kit???  Zip it!

Now that I'm here, where am I??

Hey there Chewy, yeah I'm going all out on the AM for this. I'll be spending about US$400 (lucky the Aussie $ is virtually the same rate now!) including the kit. My wish list includes; Aires Cockpit, Aires Wheel bays, Aires exhaust nozzle, Wheeliant weighted Goodyear tyres, CMK armament kit and the Big Ed set. There's a bit of doubling up in all that but I like to have a good choice of PE or resin for this type of project. My F-104 had hybrid sections that used up to 4 different AM components for some details.

Cheers

Casper and Taxtp: You guys are more than welcome. I will update the page by tomorrow to add you and whoever else I might have missed being away from here for a bit.

Casper I promise my f-117 will show up on your GB soon!

Can't wait to see the big scale kits done up!

I have been busy moving my daughter from one room to another. The bonus of all this none model painting is I now have my own hobby room/man cave. (pics to come). This will mean I can actually get some work done. Also it is just in time for the Florida heat and humidity to come. Yes we have had 3 days of 80+ with 50% humidity (sorry for those of you living in the northern ice area).

I hope to see some more pics. I think I am officially in 5 different GBs now and behind on all due to home projects. Time to catch up and finish some stuff.

Happy building!

Hi Travis,

My offering is nowhere near as impressive as Casper's, but could I go in with a Hasegawa 1/72 F-16N please?

Thanks heaps

Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

Hi Travis, I'd like to do the Tamiya 1/32 F-16 Block 50 as well, saw someone else going to attempt that bird. I prolly will chuck in heaps of AM (as I tend to do with 1/32 scale) and it will most likely be mid-year sometime before I can afford that rather pricey kit.

Cheers

I'm glad you were able to repair that broken wing Travis , your build is coming along nicely .

I just went through all 8 pages of this GB and saw Callsignowl's amazing finished F-16 , I was wondering if those Ohio decals are available in 1/72 scale .

I have built the A-7D Corsair II with similar markings and I would I love to add an F-16C .

If all goes well with my four current F-16 builds , perhaps I might add an ANG F-16C and I would really love to have a go at an Israeli F-16 as well ;

http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/695/picture053or.jpg

Either an F-16D Barak or the F-16I Sufa and if I can find those ANG markings in 1/72 scale a F-16C [Ohio]

Hopfully later today some more WIP pics ;
