Weekend Madness III - COMPLETED see pg1 for pics

I am so in!  Don't know what, but I'm in.  Good to see some of the usual suspects here as well.

About a week ago, while looking at the pair of 1/72 Harriers on the display shelf, Mia asked me if "that weekend build thing" was going to happen again. It appears so!

I'm definitely in - subject TBD - and depending which weekend is picked Mia may be as well. Looks like both suggested weekends are good from my standpoint.

Can't wait!

Wow, welcome everyone to the madhouse.  I'll update the roster tonight when I get home from work. 

As for the date I feel inclined to go with the weekend of the 13th and 14th.  As the rules state, those that cannot join in on that weekend are more than welcome to participate either the weekend before or the weekend after or anywhere inbetween.  Just keep you build to a 48 hour time period.  I would not encourage starting your build outside of that two week window though (hey... you have to have some rules - right?).

I'll try to get a badge put together soon and yes it will be a Calvin and Hobes theme!

C'mon Frank!! I've seen 1/35 scale figures that had more pieces than that kit.  Build a real kit, a man's kit!  Don't make me tell Mac!

Talk about your confidence regression!  I mean it takes 15 minutes to construct that kit tops if he strips the paint 12 times!  I think we all need to go to Mandy Pandy land and get the boy fixed!  I mean why so obcessed with this  conical tuber of a model to bring it back up after the issue has been settled!  I guess it's  why women like the harsh rumble of a Harley Davidson Motorcycle!

Models like that should be left to those B movie skin flicks and not even considered for a 48 hr GB!  Save whats left of your masculinity and toss it and build something more to your level of talent and skill like a Tamiya 109 or Fonderie Minatures Ventura!

HA!  Maybe I could build the spinner for this GB, the cockpit for next year's, the landing gear the year after that...

And in ten years, I ought to have a finished 109!

I'm thinking about joining in, mabe.

I'm a sophmore in high school, so Homework will have the right-of-way over anything. (so, no promises on being able to do it on the weekend planed for)

If I do join, I may give it a shot with a railcar or something.

I have to ask,  can a Ready-to- Run railcar that is taken apart, re-built, and super-detailed count? Even though they are already built, I take them apart to the bare frame and super-detail them to make them better.

If that won't work, let me know. I have  several old Athern locomotive and railcar kits in my stash, or I may just pick up another Revell kit.

Welcome Railfan.  I would think that disassembling a model and then reassembling it is more work than simply assembling one so I say why not.  We have not had a rail model as a subject in the Weekend group builds and it is not a subject that I am familiar with so I would be thrilled to have you build with us should your studies allow you to join us.  If the planned weekend does not work for you you are welcome to join us the weekend before or after as well.  I'll put you down as a maybe but any idea what particular model (and scale) you plan to tackle?

Nice kit that should answer most of the requirements of a WMGB: lot's of prep, fast assembly.

And it doesn't have too many parts, but the finished project is pretty interesting.

Call me a sucker, but I’m back for more.

My sanity has finally returned after the last 48 hour effort, and I am psychologically rearing to go.

I have attained clearance from the wife, and all things being equal “I’ll be there with bells on”.

Not sure exactly what I will be building just yet, still eyeing off the stash and shuffling and reshuffling the top of the pile.

I’m about 97.65% sure it will be 1/35 scale, and most probably will not fly, or float.

Good to see some familiar names back for more as well.

The only thing I know for a fact about the locomotive is that it'll be HO (1/87) scale. As for type, manufacturer, and other details, I got no clue (I'll just have to see about what I find at the hobby shop)
