Brett I've just finished my Tamiya 1/48 Panther if you want to check it out in armor, I did notice one issue you may want to note. The instructions say cut the tow cable to 90mm, I believe this to be in error as I used the suggested length and mine came up rather short.

Hi Andrew

I just read your blog, you did a good job with that one. Thanks for the introduction. (It's nice to know what I'm up against).

A neat little kit, seems to go together without issue.
While I do intend on doing a 3 colour camo job, I don't think I will go for anything as technical as what you have done.

Just over a week now until we get underway, Iv'e organised the family to go away for the weekend, and am looking forward to getting stuck into the build

Ho hoooo! This one is coming right up! Big Smile

Finally made my decision - put me down for a 1/72 Trumpeter M1A1 Abrams w/Mine Plow. Desert scheme, so nothing super complicated there, and I snagged some Archer dry transfers, so no wasted time with future or Micro Sol/Set.

Trying to see if I can talk Mia into joining again this year, most likely with a Hasegawa Eggplane. Will let you know (or have her do it).

Can't wait!

Railfan, glad to hear your schedule is clearing up.  Hope it stays that way.

Brett, wish I could arrange for my family to go away that weekend, well, my wife anyway.  The kids are old enough to look after themselves but the wife can't seem to go 24 hrs without asking me to do something for her.  Clown

Dupes, some modern armor is a welcome addition.  Yes  Hope Mia joins the party.

I have never been able to do one of these weekend GBs because my weekend is weds / thurs. However it happens that there is a meeting at work Weds 11/10 so my weekend has been pushed to Thur / Fri and with Veterans day on 11/11 I end up with Sat off as well. Since you are being flexible with the weekend and the stars seem to have aligned for me that week I'll give it a shot. I'll need to go through my kits to find something I can realistically do in 48 hours without looking like my dog built it.

Hi

Could I do Tamiya's 1/35 Sd.Kfz 222 (the one with photoetch parts) for this GB?

Thanks

Scott

Razordws

Hey folks,

Got a bit of a problem... I had to unexpectedly fly to the US a couple of days ago due to family matters and expect to be back in holland on the 9th... During my stay here i decided i wanted to (probably) change my build. Right now i am considering a mig 15 in 1/48th but not too sure yet...

Terribly sorry for the last minute thing, will let you know in time what the final build will be. My sincere apologies buddy.

The B-2 just arrived.  I'll leave it sealed in the bag until Friday night, but have already gotten the instructions out and started figuring out a schedule for next weekend ( when to allow drying time for putty, primer, etc. ).

Hi Dave,

I am finding this GB irresistible. I may have to utilize some flexibility as my wife has indicated that she wants to go away for a family weekend that weekend, but we'll see. After combing through a ridiculous number of kits in the stash, I think I'll try and get a 1/43 Heller Williams FW-11 F-1 car finished within the 48 hours. The damn thing has been in the stash for 20 years, it's got to go. It's a simple build, the challenge is in getting the two tone paint dry and decalling.

One other question, is there going to be a badge for this one ? They're about the only sort of gong that I can be bothered going after :)

Cheers

Tony

Razordws,

Thanks for your patienceWink I ordered the 1/48th Mig15Bis from trumpeter last night .You can put me down for that one and im pretty sure it will arrive in time.

Heard that this kit has some flaws but the tamyia has them too. Hell, the monogram offering is more like 1/40th scale but i stil had heaps of fun with itSmile. Should work out great OOB.

Dave,

Sorry to have to do this, but I am going to have to bow out this year.  I received a call this evening from the other guy I work with (whose wife is expecting) to say that they are inducing her tomorrow.  Which means I get to work next weekend for him, lucky me!  Sorry fellas. Black Eye

Not sure if I should tout this as good news or bad. The weather forecast for this coming weekend is wet, so the family weekend away is postponed, which means I can build on the main weekend. The weekend away will be on a more convenient weekend.

er, I guess every cloud has a silver lining ????

Cheers

Dear Frank's Boss:

Please excuse Frank from work the weekend of 13 November 2010.  He has come down with RPB (rapid build syndrome) and the doctors recommend a 48 hour quarantine.  They say he will be able to work the following Monday.  Thanks for your understanding.

Signed,

Frank's Mother.

Just show them this, it should work.  It did for Epstein.

Ok, I found the kit I'm going to do. At some point I picked up the Airfix RAF Emergency set, which is a 1/76 WW2 Austin ambulance and crash truck, it looks perfect for the weekend.

Razordws,

Hey, im backBig Smile And my trumpy Mig was waiting for me. So i will be able to participate. So sorry to hear about the people that have stuff in the way. Makes me wanna say what has been on my mind ever since i enlisted: why not increase the frequency of the weekend builds? Once a year is a bit meager in my humble opinion. Every now and then i do like to "do a quickie"....

Just a thought and my humble 50 (euro)cents

There's quite alot of parts though at first glance...ill be busyWink

Good Idea, but I fear neither my sanity, nor my family would be able to put up with more than once a year...

I've worked my schedule, and will be starting at 10:00am Saturday morning (Adelaide time), That should kind of keep me in sync with you guys over the other side of the planet.

Tomorrow... clear the desk, and final stock-take.

friday... study the instructions and formulate the build plan. (Trip to LHS if necessary).

Saturday... the sprue shall fly! (stand back... modeler at work!!!)

Racedriver:  Sorry to hear that but we all have to pay our bills so I understand.

Supressionfire:  Welcome aboard.  I'll add your build to the front page.

Kermit:  I would be up for having a weekend build more often than once a year but if someone else wanted to host it that would be great.  I think another one in February or March would be ideal.

Ok Dave, I'm ready to commit....or is that be committed?  Whatever.....

Revell 1932 Ford Sedan done up as a street rod-nice and clean.  I thought about going the Rat Rod route, but I'm afraid that I would want to spend way too much time weathering it.  However, looking at the chrome spruces, I'm thinking about doing a 'strip & paint'-the plating is very heavy.

Also, I'm planning on starting Friday am and finishing Sunday am (actually, late Sat. pm) due to church & other commitments on Sun.  Hope that's ok.  If not, then I can move starting time to 5pm EST on Friday.

Well, it's still a toss-up for me. I have some homework due on Monday, but, mabe, with some luck, I can get it finished tonight, and I not get any homework Friday, and I can do it.

Since I have Tomorrow (Veteran's Day) off from school, I'll figure out which kit I'll do, form an attack plan, and take stock, and see if I have everything.

Here's to some luck for me

Well some last minute problems (OK santa has some unexpected sale items to pick up) means I loose quite a bit of build time on Saturday. Because of this I'm going to change one of my builds. Still going to stick with the F-190 Egg Plane but I'm going to swap out the Lancia Delta (had concerns about paint drying times anyways) and will swap in my Dragon B-52H 1/200. She should turn out a decent size even in this scale.

Its now Friday here but I'll wait till after brekkie before I start Stick out tongue
