Great work everyone, that's 15 starts so far by my count and more to come.

Supression:  all I said was that it was small, that doesn't mean that is lacking!  (Oooo... bad joke in there somewhere! Clown)

Brett:  She's coming along nicely.

Stikpusher:  Slow down man or your going to have to find another model to build tomorrow!

Aaron:  Great kit, looking forward to that one.

Frank:  nice of you to drop by.  I'm sure you could put together a V2 in an evening if you wanted to jump in.  Clown

Just got home and need to get the family settled yet.  Sad  May wait and get up early to start my own build.

I've just passed the 8 hour mark, time to stop for dinner and family duties.

My schedule dictates that I must have at least the first coat of paint on before I finish up for the night.

I'm still working on sub-assemblies, and if I keep adding detail, I'll never get into the spraybooth.

I'll post pics when all the subbys are together, and before I lay down the paint (hopefully around 3-4 hours).

keep up the great work

back later

After a short evening i managed to get the pit painted and done. Just now i closed the forward fuselage and added some weight behind the seat by using modelling clay with lead balls. Migs can be tail sitters.... It is now saturday morning:

Time for the engine...

Although this is my first checkin, I kicked this pig off officially at 2315 CST.  Here is the obligatory start shot.

Here is where I was at 0130 CST.

Hey, LewBud- keep the progress pics coming!Cool

Waited most of the day for the two part mold of the tire half to be ready and I just finally pulled my first casting out of it. Of course the all black assembly is the new resin copy (resin dyed as poured).

Also filled in some blanks to the "cab" caused by the rotation of the side windows.

Kermit:  looks like a great start.

Buddy:  good to see your getting under way!

MrSquid:  What kind of coffee are you drinking?  Gotta get some as I'm crashing at 1:30 am here.

I decided to stay up and get a start.  Got underway around 10:40 pm.  Here's the start shot and where I'm at now.  Not much but its a start.

See you all in the morning. (my morning that is)

Same here, just getting back into it after dinner. All of the major parts now have a coat of Tamiya Fine White Primer. The chassis needs some more work. The underside of the seat had been left hollow by Heller, not really acceptable for a scale model, so I've blanked it off with plastic card. I then filled the seam around it with gap filling CA and use a catalyst for instant hardening. After sanding back it looked good, so I primed it. Interestingly, it half popped out once the wet primer hit it. Now,  I know that the Tamiya aerosols can be considered 'hot', and maybe it didn't get as much drying time as I would normally allow, but I have never seen anything to this before. Anyways, I'm gonna have to do it again.

Once that's done I'll be working on the tyres and turbo intakes.

Also the front and rear wing assemblies have a coat of gloss black, ready for decalling, and the wheels are already semi gloss black.

This one is actually a Williams Honda FW-11B from 1987, I mis-named it earlier as an FW-11.

Cheers

Tony

Razordws,

Ok,... pants down here... I am so pissed since ive been looking forward to this GB for months but something came up today in my personal life (blah blah yackety yack) that forces me to pull out of this one for the biggest part of my saturday... No way i can complete the trumpy mig...

IF i get lucky and get things sorted early- ish in my day i still might be able to pull off the monogram mig but thats a big if...

My sincere apologies to everyone but life sometimes gets in the way of things...Ick!

That's not good news Richard.

you were just starting to really get moving along on that build.

Hope all goes well, but all is not lost yet. 48 hours is a long time

I'm now 13 hours into the build.

Finally have everything ready to paint, so it is into the spray booth we go.

Had to add a few grab handles, the blobs of plastic that Mr Tamia had put there just didn't cut it.

It has just gone 10:40, hoping to be in bed by midnight...

It's 20 past midnight on day one. Unexpected house guests have laid waste to my evening. This photo shows my current status, I've going to have to commit to this thing tomorrow to get it through. I've primed the troublesome chassis again since taking this photo, and it STILL needs work, but it will be morning before the paint is dry enough to fix it.

Looking forward to seeing a bucket load of work done whilst I'm catching some zzzzzzz's.

Cheers

Tony

Started up again, early this morning....got pre-shading down and began RLM 76 areas.

I am 18 hours into the build and hopefully will stay on schedule....some family-related things to do may cause some delays, but will press on.

Nice work all.  I'm impressed with the quality of work being presented on some kits that I would consider a bit ambitious to attempt over a weekend.

Anyway, I did some pre-shading on the Merc last night, painted the interior & wheels this am.  Will let sit until after our trip to WalMart (gotta keep the economy going....and eat!).  Should have the afternoon to start gluing things together.  And since everything is done in acrylics, I plan on doing some oil washes and maybe some 'dot weathering' on the body.

A little over 10 hours into this build and the frame and support arms for the launching/landing pad are complete.  The pad itself is about 75% and all I have done for the X-13 itself is glue the wing halves together.  Here's a couple of pics.

To everyone who's started, keep up the good work and keep them pics a'coming.  For those who haven't, what the heck are you waiting for?  Frank, I'm with Dave if you want to jump in with your phallic symbol of a kit.

Got back to it this morning.

Finished up Nick's police car:

Ignore the chocolate doughnut in his teeth...

Now that we got that out of the way, It's time for Dad to get busy. Broke this open and started it at 0930 CST.

Been at it for about an hour. Getting ready to head to the spray booth. I'll post progress pics here in a little while.

O.K., here's an up-date from me.

Here's the flatcar after I started on the deck, re-painting the plastic to better represent wether beaten and abused wood that is common for flatcars (even today, wood decks are the norm) I'm probably going to go at it again, and see if I can make it any more beaten up.

Here's the steel plate load before paint. I use plastic For Sale signs from the hardware store, insted of the styrene sheet from the hobby shop (It's cheeper, although For sale signs only come "plain")

And here's the load after a coat of black paint and the first round of rusting. Up next for the load is some washes, some more rust, and mabe a little dust.

Gotta take a break...enamel needs to set for a little while....additionally, my air brush has been getting a huge work out...time to clean up the air brush and the bench, before pressing forward.

I don't know about you all, but doing a quick build has helped me to focus better.  When this is done, I will do more OOB builds...I am having fun doing this.  Also, ramping up my builds will help reduce the stash...doh! I have to stop by my LHS to pick up a model I ordered.  I also have two kits on the way from Greatmodels.  Geez, my math at this point is all off--> for every one kit I build I purchase three!!!!  Need to reverse that! Embarrassed

13 hours in.  Kind of at that waiting stage while the putty dries.  Got to back for some more paint, find some fishing weights and lunch not neccessarily in that order.

Great work everyone, too many to comment at the moment but keep the pictures coming!  Propeller

Finished assembling the turret this morning and I'm ready for the first application of OD paint.  Just thought I'd check up on everyone while waiting for the glue to fully set.

Kermit:  No worries bud.  Life has a habit of showing up unexpectedly.  Keep at though and post some pics even if you need extra time.  That goes for everyone else too should you run into snags.

Jeff:  love Nick's police car.  Give him a prize for me for being the first one finished.  Bow Down

Stikpusher:  Slow down man or your going to have to find another model to build tomorrow!

Not likely...painting is always my speed bump to slow up progress.... final detail work and base paint coat to follow shortly...

Not to mention that I spent the rest of last night at Camp Pendleton waiting for and picking up my oldest daughter's boyfriend who just came in from Afghanistan... Well done 3/1 Marines!Yes
