Today's update: A wash applied to selected areas....

and then a custom mix top coat. Since the Panthers in "Toko Ri" appeared toned down in the film, I mixed up cross between Satin (2 parts) and Semi Gloss (1 part) for my top coat. I think it came out good. It still has a slight sheen with some reflectivity in daylight.

More work on the Panther today. I attached the landing gear struts, wheels, outer wing bomb racks, and pitot tube. Now it can finally sit on its wheels...Stick out tongue

I also did some work on the pilot figure...

and since I was working on figure painting, I did some work on Kruger...

I see what you mean. I just looked at them on Squadron. One of Monogram's seated mechanic figures might work with a little modification. The guy who comes with a few of their 1/48 WWII kits.

sort of, his arms are molded with the body so making him seated also cuts his arms he is really, REALLY meant to stand Crying and I have an idea for mounting on the wall in a flying position....

Stikpusher: Great work on the Panther! I love the golden dragon nose art on Holden's plane.

Looking forward to an update on Kruger too!

Well no updates on Kruger currently. But Lt Brubaker is starting to take form.

The tough part will be the Rams horns on the flight helmet

Dos, isn't there an AM figure set for the Sky King? I though Squadron was selling them...

Wish I had some progress to report, picked up all the stuff I need but haven't had the Whitestar out of the box in months. Snail

Gamera

SP: Very nice work, and she's molded in colour so you don't have to paint her Wink

Nah,it needs the paint Wink I cant believe that I forgot to post updates on my Panther build here. For nearly six months at that. I have been working on it...Embarrassed

Well lets see now, since we left off in April... I masked off the canopy frame and painted a Flat Black base color for the interior of the framing:

Then it was the base coat of Gloss Sea Blue:

And base colors on the fiddly bits- OD bombs, Gloss Sea Blue Landing Gear, Insignia Red Speed Brake inner faces and actuator arms:

Then it was masking and Flat Aluminum for the wing roots, leading edges, and tip tank tips (say that three times fast):

Afterwords was more masking and painting Insignia White on the tips of the Vertical and Horizontal Stabilizers, then more masking and touch up of Gloss Sea Blue to correct all overspray (I reached that point yesterday):

This morning I applied a coat of Future and this afternoon after it dried I applied the decals:

a closeup of the "Toko Ri" Lt Brubaker markings

and thats where it is as of now...

AWESOME!!!

Dang I wish I had one for my car.

If I wasn't up to my eyeballs in stuff right now I'd pull the thing out and start on it.

I'd read Larry Correia's Monster Hunter novels where he has a US Government Bureau of Monster Control.  It's a secret organization so the gun would have be normally hidden but I love the idea of it popping up. Either that or I'll put the name IRS on the side of the vehicle.

TD4438: 'It might take a bit of doing, but you could have a mini-gun pop up out of the top'

Lol, I have a left over cannon from a 1/48th A-10 that I'd kicked around the idea of mounting on the roof somehow. Wink

Anthony: Nice work on the 'King Tiger'. I know what you mean about all those road wheels.

Here ya go dude!

Once I get my current Cpl Kruger figure completed, I have another one to add that I just purchsed...

Beachmaster Colin Maud with Winston from The Longest Day...
