Thank you gents.
I cleaned up the figure castings and then sunk a couple of feature lights into Darth's chestbox. Also spent a fair amount of time on the head/helmet especially to make it both smoother and crisper. Two castings for it came in the box and you can see how the "raw" one compares to the one in primer now.
The rear bulkhead some ready made spots for more lights so holes were drilled, aluminum tubing cut and the ends turned over so that they snug up over the dome of the LED.
MrSquid: Very cool! Really looking forward to seeing how you light her up.
SP: Nice work on the cockpit and I love the figure. Haven't seen 'Cross of Iron' in years, looked at the DVD on Amazon but it was more expensive than I really wanted to pay.

The cockpit is now all done and ready for installation...oh boy!
And here is my figure that I will be entering as well. The package labels him as German Grenadier Stalingrad... but he bears a most striking resemblance to Cpl Kruger of Cross of Iron. So that who he is gonna be. Figure in 1/35 resin by Warriors.
the package
built and a PPSH added to match the one he carries in the movie
..and primed...
F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!
U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!
N is for NO SURVIVORS...

Can I join this build? Not sure yet what I'll make but have several ideas brewing.
Cheers,Douglas

Current progress.
Hot glue.....unorthodox...but effective!
I'm a major Star Wars geek as well.I'll be watching this.
Hey gang,
I've been quiet in this GB because I eventually decided that it bothered me for not finding a 70 Charger to model the Fast and Furious car with. The front grill surround bumper is distinctive and although I thought to scratchbuild it I finally decided NO.
BUT, I just happen to have something that fits the GB so without further ado I introduce the resin kit of Darth Vader's X-1 TIE fighter.
Here's the stock kit interior panels before and after some cleanup, minor modifications and some paint.
Next up are some lighting features and then detailing the Darth figure.
a little progress on my F9F today. I drybrushed the instruemnt panel and cockpit side consoles to highlight raised details. Tomorrow I plan on adding clear glue drops for each instrument dial glass face.
Are movie character figures a go in this GB?
Ohhhhhh the Intercepter is awesome P-38!!! Now I want one!
This is going to be fun to watch you build.
TD... that is sweet ..!! I also have that version in Resin from Monsters in Motion..the closest I ever came to spending $229. on a kit...
I'll post pics of em both later on.. I also have the Knight Rider's car, and Max's Yellow interceptor..
[]
I'll be watching this one.I have a few good exterior refernce photos of a replica if you'd like.
ah... well. construction has begun on the Black Interceptor.... first... the usual box shot with sprue shots... [:550:0]

as of now... the running gear is attached along with the exhaust, minus the pipes..
this will be my 2nd build of this car, but not of this Co. The first build I did was a few years ago, and it was a Planet X , all resin version... If anyone wants to see it.. just holler.. I'll scrounge a pic...
I know this is a stupid question but how do I capture the badge for this or any other GB? Also, I just picked up a Polar Lights kit of Robby the Robot and its matching PE set so can I include this in my HOLLYWOOD(LAND) entry?
Thanks

Thanks guys. This whole build is about fun and absolute historical inaccuracy!
That paint job was no joke. It's been a real PITA the whole way!
Wow love the bright yellow, she's coming right along
The hull and turret are ready for detailing.I also successfully raided the stash for decals and infantry.
Hot water has always worked for me on bottle lids. Even the worse has come off after five minutes of soaking.
Once I did have a bottle Polly-S 'Plastic Prep' that I tried for over a half-hour to get the child-proof cap (more like turtle proof!) off and finally just drilled a hole in the bottle and poured the contents into one with a reasonable lid.
its worked everytime for me.. sometimes it takes a few applications of thinner.. by the way... acrylic thinner wont cut it.. you got to use enamel, or laquer... then a firm application with pliers ! lol
Good idea!
I'm not sure it would have worked in this case.
I keep an adjustable wrench on the bench for just this kind of thing.
That lid still wouldn't budge!
hey..a little trick to get those stubborn jars open...
set the paint bottle upside down, with a paint brush or eye dropper, put some thinner around the slim opening between the lid and the jar, the thinner will follow the threads and loosen the dried paint...give it a few mins, and the lid will come right off... laquer thinner works the fastest...
Thanks dude. The jar didn't explode.I had to carve it open. That lid just wasn't coming off and I needed that particular color.
TD4438 Um, don't even want to hear the story behind the exploding paint bottle
But I know what you mean, I've done something one way 100 times and then had the whole thing go berzerk on me on the 101 time. Just keep at it friend, shove it in the box, walk away, and then come back later if you have to.
Still the figures look good.
Murphy's Law is kicking in big time with this paint job!
Everything is fighting me!
It took far more primer to cover the green plastic than I could have guessed, resulting in another trip to the LHS.
Upon application, the primary color re-activated the primer, resulting in the paint running off a lot of the raised edges!I've never had that happen before.
I tried to brush a similar color over the sprayed yellow paint, but that simply resulted in visible brush strokes everywhere! What a nightmare this has become.I hate yellow paint!
I just finished respraying everything. So far it looks a lot better.Time will tell.
When I said everything was fighting me,I meant it!
Looks like it's gonna be one long GB.
eatthis didnt they have any anti dandruff shampoo??
didnt they have any anti dandruff shampoo??
What?
I see "Head and Shoulders".
I'm not much of a figure painter,so I'm calling these done.I did enjoy it,though.
I might add some infantry to this build.Gotta check the stash.
