Current Progress

I am almost beginning to regret this.I've already used a can of white spray paint (primer), and still haven't finished coating all the parts.I loathe working with white and yellow paint!

I hope the final results are worth the effort.

 TD4438:

That was the very first armor kit I ever built... It came with Shep Paine's diorama tip-sheet and that was THE kit that changed me from an "assembler of firecracker targets" to a "serious modeler" and strictly diorama-builder at the ripe old age of 13....

The first time I built this kit as a kid,I used a bit too much glue on the barrel. When I went back to the bench after dinner, the barrel was severely drooping. The glue just melted it!I fixed it as best I could, but I had to shorten it a bit.

My Texas Messerschmitt is now decaled and ready for touch-p and weathering...  I built it S.O.B. as there wasn't really anything that needed to be added.. The interesting thing is that there's only a seat-pan in the cockpit, no back-rest...

The CAF's  Buchon has a regular seat in it, since none of the pilots wear butt-pack 'chutes, which is what the "pan"- design was supposed to accomodate...  But I'm depicting this one from The Battle of Britain as "Yellow 4", so it's possible that the Spansh AF's movie pilots still wore butt-packs in 1969... I haven't found anything to suggest otherwise, any way..

I don't have a decal for the correct Staffel badge, only for JG 27, but oh well..  I'm doing a diorama of it during the filming of BoB, so, while the model languishes on the shelf as a 99%-er, I've started work on the two "Luftwaffe" figures, and also the camera, camera crew and director figures, doing a few "B-roll" shots... I figure that's the easiest way to depict the modeland make it obvious to any viewer of what the story is...

I also considered doing a Mk II Spitfire sitting nose to nose with it, with a another camera shot being set up for the "RAF" actors...  That one I'm actually gonna do that, I think, but it won't be for this build..  It'll be easy enough to change dioramas once this build is complete.. Pics soon...

Buy him a video game Wink (j/k)

Andrew

Cough, cough, my copy of Dragon Age II came in yesterday so I may be moving a little em... slow... Embarrassed

Still did get some work done in filling in the rough spots on the resin over the weekend. And I fixed a small broken area on one of the tail fins.

TD4438: Maybe it's not the latest Dragon kit but still she doesn't seem half bad. Looks like she'll be a fun build.

Getting hit with delays which prevent me from putting Paw to Plastic.

Biggest one is end of school-year of son is this month, so lots of shopping and preparations to get him ready for the new year. Add to that a 3 week holiday where he will be at home full-time and wanting my attention.

Looking nice guys,

Still no start from me thanks to appendicitis inviting me to spend the weekend in hospital, and while the surgery pain is settling fairly quick, hunched over a desk isnt the best place to be spending lots of time yet.

OK... Take me off the "TBA" list!  I finally decided on my build...

Battle of Britain Me 109E, which means the venerable Hispano HA-1112 "Buchon" will be in the spotlight...  I finally found one at a decent price, although I had to order it from South Korea... Price was still under 22.00 though, even with shipping.. It's a 1/48 Academy kit BTW...

Here's the prototype:

This is the CAF's Buchon (circa 1983), bought by the CAF directly after the filming of The Battle of Britain had wrapped... Intitially there were two,  (also two of  the "He 111"s) but one was sold... This one is now in the guise of "Der Stern von Afrika", Hans-Joachim Marseille's "Yellow 14", which "yours truly" did all the paint research on...

It's currently airworthy, but no one can fly it... Seems that the few CAF fighter pilots who are rated for it, can't quite make the squeeze into a Messerschmitt cockpit, lol..  I know it's a tight fit too, I'm 6'1" and @ 185 pounds, I was barely able to fit in it, although I couldn't close the canopy without it hitting my head...  Max height for a guy to fly that sucker has to be about 5'9"...

Thank you Konig!

I did some different detail colors in the cockpit and wheel wells yesterday and added a burnt umber wash this morning.

As long as you have to paint it and it has more than a couple of parts, I'd say yes.

NOthing wrong with anime its Most of its either TV or movie after all (considering my build is from the old TV series Zoids)

Stik, looking blue good.

Nothing to show yet.

Started a few sub-assemblies on the Bike but still no putty or paint slung yet.

Question to the Gb organizer.

Would the ship from the "One-Piece" Anime be eligible. Got a copy coming in oh about 30 min and they are also doing a 2nd ship from the Anime.

Pics Stik?

Andrew

Got some taken this morning. Just bare plastic so far. I need to do a hobby shop run for some paint. I bought this kit consignment several years ago and it came with parts for two kits. That is why there is a second instrument panel that is painted there. If the one I do comes out better, I will use mine, if not, I will use the previous owner's work Wink

Thanks guys,

She's a Whitestar from the TV SF series 'Babylon 5'. They were one of the more commonly seen 'good guy' ships. I've heard some claim they look like 'two frogs bonking' but I loved her since the first episode she appeared on. My second favorite fictional spacecraft only surpassed by the original Enterprise. Wow, I'd expected more of a big Hollywood explosion sort of kick-off!

I'm afraid I maybe a little slow out of the gate myself, since I've got about thirty things piled up on my workbench.

Anyway here's what the Whitestar looks like on TV:

http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/ab85/Tempest977/Hollywood%20GB/whitestar_8x6.jpg

Or better yet, as a Youtube clip.

What the Warp kit looks like, a big pile of resin with a few white metal parts for the spines and guns:

http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/ab85/Tempest977/Hollywood%20GB/DSCN0013.jpg

As you can see I started on the kit some years ago but dropped it due to not being sure I was good enough to get the complex mottling scheme to look good. However recently I found these aftermarket decals which should take care of that:

I don't know what that is,but it's sure as hell awesome looking.Gotta keep an eye on this one!

Once I finish off a kit for yet another Group Build elsewhere,I'll get started on something for this one.

Mr Squid, play it how you like (3 kits already to make one is more than enough outlay in my opinion)
