Tony -- looking good on the Sturmtiger, that pencil guide should really help laying down the camo this time round.
Redleg -- Many thanks for the weathering guide, that'll help hugely! There's nothing like the experience of those who were there!
Beav -- The MBRL is sure a fascinating-looking piece of gear, I love the way the cupola is alongside the rocket pack. Finicky work with the masking, you really stuck with it!
Thanks for the research photos of the M110! I had meant to take a shot at wiring and hoses but there's so much of it! I see there are rubber rims on the wheels -- the profile is so low you can't make them out in the boxtop painting and there's nothing mentioned in the instructions! Hmm, now, how to tackle them? I had thought I was going to be drybrushing wear on resilient steel wheels but somewhat puzzled because I could only solidly trace them to late Nazi hardware...
Okay, now comes the interesting stuff! Fade and shade spraying, get some rusty brown on the tracks, then start making this beast look real!
Cheers, Mike/TB379

lol, there is something for everyone there. Unfortunately they won't have all the outdoor exhibits in place until summertime. I think I'll go to the big ribbon cutting at the Artillery Conference. Thanks for the words about the MRL! We'll see if we can't get her finished up nice.

Ok, then, it will be a couple days until I get home, but I'll get to work when I do.
Today's progress, the airbrushing should be just about done. I sprayed the tires NATO Black, then used a circle template to redo the hubs in Olive Drab. On the same mixing I picked up some thin spots on the main hull, then paled the remaining paint with a few drops of white and spotted on some fade patches. The tracks were sprayed into a dark brown in the same round of work.
The fade effect isn't very subtle at the moment, hopefully the oil wash weathering and rust streaks will pull it all together.
Cheers, Mike/TB79
I have a Testors/Italeri 1/35 M108 that I've been itching to put together.
On Ed's bench, ???
Welcome to the brigade, 68GT! Updating page 1, you're clear to build!
I have been working on the indy line T80 tracks from AVF Club for the M40. Everything is going OK for my first go at indy link tracks. I found a groove so I hope to get them finished in the next couple days and I will post a few pics for inspection. 4 parts per link is a little complicated. But I think I am doing OK.

"The Moral High Ground....A Great Place to Emplace Artillery."
Hi all,
Here's a couple of progress shots of the camo on the Sturmtiger, still lots of work to do. No weathering as yet.
Cheers
Tony
I'm just taking it one GB at a time.
Wow...nice job on the camo!!! Thats a very convincing sturmtiger.
I'm bummed, just spoke to squadron....my Dana wont be in the states till mid February. I guess the row boat hit poor weather.
Jeff
Nice paint job on the Sturmtiger! Looks great!
Nice job so far TB. I like how you broke up the paint with some fading. Looking sweet!
That sucks that your kit won't be in for a while Jeff. It is a menacing looking piece of armor.
Heck, everything is lookin good so far.
Started installing the fenders today.

Shoot Low Boys They're Ridin Ponys
Tony - Nice tin knocker look .....keep on chugging
Thunderbolt - consider a "grey" wash to give the sun faded look!
Now that looks better than it did yesterday. Things are all set to shine up the inside of the fighting compartment tomorrow.
Take care people
Pvt Mutt Now that looks better than it did yesterday. Things are all set to shine up the inside of the fighting compartment tomorrow. Take care people Tony Lee
WOW! That looks awesome! There any plastic parts in that kit?
Lets just say there's going to be a few left over.
And Thanks
Here's the latest progress pics, with the basic camo in place, now to paint some peanuts and get on with the weathering.
Hindend progress:
Later Folks
Taxto - Nice camo work!!
Tony - As usual from you..."Heavy Metal" modeling!!
I added some more to the pot today:
See Ya Later People
Pvt Mutt -- artistry in metal! My hat is perrmanently doffed, sir, to a modeller who can make PE look like that! Did any PE come with the kit (IIRC Trumpeter had started adding frets about the time that one came out) or is it all AM???
No PE Mike, just a box of plastic. My PE work ain't perfect but i'm working on it. As you can see from my avatar i've still got a little hair around the edges yet.
Mighty nice of you to say so,I appreciate it so much.
Count me in. I have a 1/35 Trumpeter AS-90. Actually, I have four, if anyone wants one cheap...
I'll start OOB but I have been looking at AM parts.

Jim - good to see you on the artillery line, I've added you to page 1 so you're clear to lay down some fire!
Cheers, M/TB379
Not a very clear shot but it's progress.
It's the weekend

It's taken a while, but the camo is finally done on the Sturmtiger. At this point the model is at it's most garish, with no shading, weathering or anything else. There is way too much rust showing on the tracks, but after they've been dirtied up a bit, hopefully it will be more discreet. I'm just doing the pioneer tools tonight, then I'll be into trying to make this thing look a bit more realistic.
Looking forward to the AS90 build.
One thing to watch out for, and which most modellers get wrong, is the way the boxes are attached to the turret. They should be a small distance off the surface. Like this...

99% of the time, you can increase the speed by logging out and rebooting your computer. Othertimes, nothing will work, because they're doing someting at the head-end, or you got a thread that's picture-heavy... Especially those with pictures that are hot-linked to other websites, rather than from the poster's own photo-hosting site, and they also used bitmaps instead of JPEG format for the photos... But during peak hours on busy threads, and sometimnes around the 0200 Central time-frame, it's best just to wait 20 minutes or so and then log back on...
Firts, here is my weekly up date to the M108 build

taxto - I love the "garnish" looks great
Tony - You are a true metal artist.
redleg12, Got a question for you sir. In you M40 WIP you posted that you used 79 links per track run. That seems to come up a bit shorted than the kit provided T66 vinyl tracks. My question is, are the kit tracks too long or should I go ahead and make them the same length?
Thanks for your time.
