That works for me. I've  decided to build the Revelogram B 25 J as Bottoms-Up II of the 486 BS 340 BG out of Corsica in 1944 and the Italeri B 25 D as Hells' Fire of the 500 BS 345 BG out of New Guinea in May 1944.

Got the interior colors mapped out for both... Yellow zinc Chromate for the D model with aluminium bomb bay and bronze green for the pilot's compartment (that's what North American called the cockpit). Interior Green for the J model with aluminium for the bomb bay.

Been spending some time filling in ejector pin marks and sink areas in visible areas of the Revelogram kit. It's my first time building a kit of this vintage and I don't know if that was the norm. Kinda weird that they would mold a big M directly under the dorsal turret. Maybe they thought it could represent "Mitchel".  This one is going to take bit of puttying but it looks to be good kit.

I'll be painting a detailing the interiors fo both kits tomorrow and wednesday look for photos soon.

Arrggh.  I broke my wrist a month ago, and am going to have the cast on for at least another three weeks, so my Lancaster start might be delayed a bit.  I'll do what I can, maybe wash the sprues and start cutting some pieces out, but any detail work is going to be tough.   Good luck to all you guys, I'm looking forward to seeing your builds progress.  Back to lurking...

Jeff, sorry to hear about your wrist, man that's a bummer. Start when you can but don't rush it.

I pulled my A-20 out of storage and saw the decals weren't all that great, trying to hunt down some more.  Found some at squadron, i might pick up at their open house next month.

Thanks B17, I'll be sure to take my time.  One positive from the experience is that I think I may have found a new modelling tool.  I've been using Glad Press-N-Seal over my arm for showering - I think it might make a great cheap masking material for models, especially when you just need to paint a quick section (aka cowling or prop), but want to make sure the rest of the model is covered.  Very quick and cheap.  I don't see it lifting paint either, but some experimentation will be required to find out for sure.

Some progress on the B 25 D. This is the Italeri kit. There is an insane amount of detail that won't be seen when I close up the fuselage. As you can see even the instrument panel won't really be visible. One of the weaknesses of this kit (and the Revel kit also) is the lack of detail on the pilots switch panel located in front of the throtle quadrant. It is one of the most prominant feature of the B 25 cockpit. Both kits give just a flat shelf with no detail at all. On this one I scrounged some spare photo etch for that area. I'll do the same on the Revel kit.

I'm not a fan of clear plastic instrument panels unless there is a decal included. I haven't really developed a technique to deal with them yet...

I'm planning on pulling an all nighter to get the rest of the detail painting done on this one. I'm going to start the interior painting on the B 25 J in the morning.

Jbrady- That's odd that no IP decal is included.  That Italeri kit is just a rebox of the AM B-25 and all the AM B-25s come with decals.  Heck the D I have for this group build has 3 IP decals altho they look almost impossible to install since they're on a black background

Matt: I know the AM Boxing had the decal. I was disappointed that it wasn't included with the Italeri kit. Upside is the panel is so far under the glare shield it wont be seen anyway.

jbrady:  Nice work so far! Question: does the Italeri kit include the nose weight like the AM kit does?

No nose weights... got some lead solder that I can fill up the nose with. Hell's Fire has a painted over greenhouse in front.

That's when I use my trusty Micro hole punch and apply one dial at a time. Quite time consuming but well worth the effort.

Thanks for the comments guys. Ive been out of action for a while cos ive been up at Omaka. Fantastic airshow. Keep an eye out for a post about it. Ill be posting a full report with photos probably this saturday. You can get so close to the action. Just about got hit with a spent shell from a ww1 rifle from the ground action. But anyway youll see this weekend.

I've managed to dig my Lanc out of the stash, and mostly ogle it.  I've cut a few pieces off the sprues, but thats about it.

I started fiddlin around with the B-25 the other day despite the 3 other projects I have to finish first   I like the look of the kit but there were a few historical inaccuracies that Accurate Miniatures had.....I outlined them in the photo below ( I was lucky enough to find a wartime photo of "Red Wrath")

1) The left and right eyes and eyebrows were not identical on the falcon nose.  From the photo you can see the eye on the right side of the nose has a small pupil and thick eyebrow, but the AM decals have this on the left side instead of the right.  Probably not too big of a deal though

2) The AM instructions call for a flat paned navigator's window but the picture clearly shows the bubble style.  not a hard fix though, AM includes both types of windows

3) The AM instructions call for the later style cowlings with the Clayton S style individual exhausts for Red Wrath.  However, the picture above shows no evidence of all the little individual exhaust stacks on the cowling, but I also can't see the large circular exhaust on the forward end of the nacelle which would be common on the earlier style cowlings.  AM does include the earlier style cowlings so I'll use those.

4) Once again a mistake in the decals.  Look at the insignia from the photo and of the decals and you'll see the difference

5) Probably not a big deal but you can see in the photo that there is a lip at the base of the turret dome which is not present on the kit.  Anyone got any ideas how to do this?  If not I won't worry about it

Another thing that I think might not be right is that the instructions don't have tail guns on Red Wrath.  They do include a dual .50 mount but they have you cut them apart to use as the waist guns instead.  I want this sucker bristling with guns so I'm gonna leave the tail guns as is and raid the spares box for some .30s for the waist

How 'bout yu take some very small Evergreen rod, cut a piece long enough to make a circle around the top turret, then roll it around a paint bottle or something similar ... this, of course, after heating up the styrene strip in some hot water ...

Then wrap it arouynd more circular (in diameter) objects until you have a styrene circle smaller than what you need for the turret lip ... then, you can use Tenax or something similar to attach the styrene rod around the lip ... fill and sand as needed ...

I did a dry fit of the basic airframe and it looks like a real decent fit that should just need a tad of filler

The interior has quite a few injector pin marks

Did a lot of tedious sanding and got the missing details filled in with putty

will do some more tweaking before I start spraying the basic interior,from the research pics it looks green up in the office and grey in the rear

I got some pe installed

I broke down and got a PE set and AM decals for my little A-20.  Got one diorama done and when I test a water making technique, I'll get the other one done, then onto the A-20.

Although, I'm itching to start the thing so......

Red raider, here is a link to a closeup of the upper turret.  The base was a metal fairing on the bottom of the plexiglas.  It turned with the turret and I think you could just paint the lower edge of the glass to replicate it
