Here is where the mustang sits now that I have finished the foiling. I got lazy toward the end and didn't want to foil the entire plane. SO I adjusted the paint scheme, and I must say, I'm glad I did! It looks really sharp!

Paint fading and decals are next!

I hear y'all...I lived in a mobile home for 10 years, saving to buy a house.  It was built around 1970 or so, so, ugly paneling, shag carpet, no insulation.  I had my share of aggrvations.  It was heated with an oil burner and forced-air system, oil tank was outside.  Got some water in the feed line once in the winter, and it froze.  I woke up in 20-degree temps.  Had to go underneath with a buddy of mine and gently warm the line to thaw it.

Another time, the chimney stack had rusted to the point where the weight of the cap on top of it collapsed it, sealing the chimney.  Fortunately, it was not overnight.  But you can imagine my alarm when oily black smoke started coming out of the vents.  Switched the burner off immediately, opened the windows, and went outside and saw that the cap was about 6 inches lower than it had been.  D'OH!.  Off to the farm bureau to buy a new pipe.

There was the time that the old burner wore out; the heat exchanger cracked and vented CO into the trailer.  Switch it off, open the windows, swallow a bottle of aspirin and call the oil company.

Then there was the time that a bird flew down the stove's chimney.  I heard something in the vent, removed it, and out flew something like a sparrow or some other small bird.  Open the windows....

The best was using the spare bedroom, which was about 12 x 10, as my modeling room, with my 4 x 8 bench set up there, and racks of shelves behind it.  It was like climbing into a space capsule.  But still, those were good years.  Summer evenings sitting on the front porch, listening to the Phillies on the radio and having a beer or two.  My neighbors were all retirees, too, nice folks.

Best regards,

Brad

My Wife does the distance learning thing too.  She is ¾ done with a Bachelors in Medical Office Technology, and plans on going for an RN very soon after she get’s this finished.

A few words of advise on mobile homes.  If it is an older home, make sure to check for two things.  First make sure that it doesn't have the old style plastic plumbing they used to use.  I don't mean PVC, I mean actual polyethaline plastic.  Most older ones had it and it's bad.  This brings us to number 2.  Make sure that the wood used in the floor has been pressure treated.  If it's not sealed, it will disintegrate the moment it gets wet enough.  I know this because it is exactly why we have to move out of our single wide.  The old style plastic plumbing (Which is no longer allowed under code) started to leake and spray water up under the trailer.  We didn't notice it for months until it got bad enough that we could hear it from inside the trailer.  The floors where it was spraying were totally saturated and now we have big spots of soft wood that we can't walk on.  Repairing it is more expensive than the Mobile Home was, and with a leaky roof, and bad electrical, it's time to get out of it into a real house.  Make sure to check these two things if it's an older home.

Good luck

Rich

Ok, I gotta few minutes before I pull the plug on this thing... I'll still have the wife's computer available to check up on things, but I can't get to it as often as my own.. We decided to have the internet and cable installed in the new place BEFORE we unhook here, that way there's no real down-time, except that I'll need to re-route things at the trailer..... She takes internet college courses, so she can't afford a day without internet access..

Kermit, you're good to go...

So, I'll check in here in the AMs, but that's about it..

BTW.. The park has a tornado shelter right across from my lot...  It's better than what we have here at the apartment building, lol...  Don't have to worry about three floors falling into the basement...

Except for a few deployments and a couple OCONUS PCSs, I've lived in Tornado Alley all my life...  Nuthin' to it.. It''s flooding that bugs me around here...  Luckily, the new place is on high ground so it's not an issue...

Good progress on the car. Never done a car before myself. Looks like fun thoughWink

No progress pics from me at the moment but i am busy painting on my Mig15 by now. I might have chosen a scheme that is a bit more than i can chew but i am really trying.... All the NMF migs i've done are getting old so i am trying a camouflaged one....Embarrassed Pics soon!

Everyone's builds are lookin good!!!

Sorry for no posts for a while, a little thing called life got in the way, but I got some more work done finally on the ZR-1 'Vette!

Got the body painted.

As you can see, Monogram made the model as exotic as the real car, molding the roof into the window assembly. This is great actually, as the top of the C-4 ZR-1s were black regardless of body color. I have that left to paint though.

I also got the base color sprayed on the interior.

Thanks for letting me be part of this, and I am sure assembly of this kit and the F-15 will go smoother now, along with more frequent progress updates!!

Thanks and have a great day!!!

Good luck with the move Hans.  I used to work upper level support for a big cable internet company.  It actually only takes about 5 minutes at the central office and about 15 minutes at the pole to get you set up if there is existing cable.  They stretch it out to try and justify the over-inflated reconnect fees. lol.

Congrats on the single wide.  We are finally ditching ours and getting a small house.  The Wifey is out now looking at a few with our Daughter.  Not nearly enough room for three people and my collection of kits.  I hope you got at least a 72x14 trailer.  You may find that even getti8ng a bit small after a while.  Do yourself a favor.  Get a LARGE shed for storage and as a workshop.   Heck knoweth no fury like a Wife who has a headache from listening to an air compressor...  lol

Happy Skies

Looks like things are progressing well for everyone... Thanks for the props on the Stuka and Spitfire, folks..

Now just a little housekeeping to do..

I'm going off the net for a few days starting Wednesday AM and will be off the grid for a bit.  Wife and I bought us a single-wide in the nearby trailerhood and we're fixin' on startin' the move tomorrow.  First thing I'm packing up is the War Room and my bench, so I won't be working on the rest of the stuff for a couple weeks at least.  I can't guarantee when the cable company will have my internet up & running, so I'm giving myself some wiggle-room and hope to be up and hot by next Thursday, but we all know how that works, when one is dealing with a utility... Last time they disconnected me, it took them two weeks to get me hooked back up, and that was just me moving down the hall, in the same building.

I hate moving with a passion (after 25+ years of PCSs, TDYs, and Deployments you understand), but this's gonna be the last one for a good spell, we're doing it slow over a period of a few days (only going about 10 blocks to edge of town), and I'm really looking forward to owning my own place for the first time in 2 ex-wives... Plus, I'm getting away from the apartment-dwellers and trading a two-floor stair-climb for three steps onto a deck...

So, I'll try to pop in again before I go 10-7 here, but I gotta lotta sh*t to do...

Stik, you have the Con...

HvH

PS: Those are indeed Tamiya kits in the background of the that stack, yeah... I got a Bristol Beaufighter for 18.00 and an He 219 for 16.99 clearance...  Got Tamiya armor too...

Never said I don't buy other manufacturer's kits, lol... Said I won't pay the prices they want for 'em... Wink

just some cheap aluminum foil that you get at the store in a big roll. I use the Microscale foil adhesive on it.

Ive started to apply the foil, and focused on getting different hues on the mustang. Ive gotten most of the foil on now, just a bit more to go.
