Bondoman, Nice work on the little Bi-Plane Gems!  I have several and got the Starfighter decal sheets for them. Really nice and at about $6-$7  you can do multiple planes with using the Natl Insignia either from kit or spares.

the Rod looks good, I ahve done some work on mine and now wish I had replaced the tracks...guess its not too late,,,

I'm almost finished with mine.  I'm doing it in two passes, because the first bit that I chose isn't big enough  , though my official story is that the first pass was to center the holes

Been working on the two Navy birds for this GB.  I'm approaching this as a "what you get/what you can do" project.  So the Helldiver is OOB.  For the Hellcat I have taken an old KMC cockpit set designed for the Hasegawa kit and am modifying it and scratch building some details.  I'm not nearly as good as some of you so don't expect the cover of Fine Scale, but it's pretty ambitious for me.

Here are some quick shots.

The pe and the resin stuff is the KMC set.  I took a frame from the spares box to replicate the seat frame seat belt hanging rod.  I'm currently scratching a cockpit floor in panel.  I'm toying with the idea of making it a night fighter too.

Part II- I had forgotten what a joy these little kits are. Right to left the P-6E, F11C-2 and the F4B-4. Put together a set of simple cockpits, using my fav scratch building styrene and a set of Hudson seats for the Navy, an armchair for the Army. Stick and pedals and done until paint.

I have a spool of motor armature wire. It's like 32 guage,  cost me $ 5 and is nice and fine and has lasted for years.

If you DO decide to sling a fish under the Dauntless, a bic pen makes a good 'un.

Here's today's progress. It is 70 and beautiful, the hunnydo list is sporadic, and in between there's lots of I'm balancing modeling with other stuff like sitting in the sun and reading.

First, the three amigos went to paint last night and today. Left to right the P-6E, the F11C-2 and the F4B-4.

Yellow Wings Yellow works out to be a little pool of Testors Yellow with a look at the black bottle nearby, just a dauber on a toothpick really.

Otherwise all old school, except I am using a $ 9 paint brush instead of the little giveaway we all started with.

Any ideas about how to make Army Air Corps OD? I figure 3 yellow, 1 blue and a drop of red.

Next is the cockpits. Monogram has a pilot who has pins in his knees and fills the hole. I am going to make little chair/ floor girder and stick sets. Grey in the Boeing, silver in the Goshawk which has a fabric fusie, and black in the army bird.

I also ran up a bunch of hours on the 'rod.

Looking good so far Len, love the SBD, in fact watching "Midway" with the kids now (okay so SBD's didn't drop torpedos, they'll never know)   That kit is what got me back into this.  Except I didn't drill out all 200 some odd holes... which is why I bought a magazine to tell me I should have.

Love that Panther! Haven't built one yet, but remember climbing around in one that was in a local park for several years. I remember actually fitting into the opening in the wing intake.....those were the days!

The next one is in the fall, I find you get great deals there since the emphasis is obvioulsy on cars. I'll let you know when the next one is. It is about 12 miles north of Downtown, but easy access off of I-94.

I wish I had known about that show.  It's only about an hour to Detroit from our place.  Oh well..  Yeh.  I had to get somewhat creative with that part.  The glue wasn't holding it all that well, so I made use of one of my used insulin pen needles and made a sort of a hinge joint to hold it together.  After paint, it can't even be seen.  Those little butane torches are a great investment.

Seperated the two piece canopy with a razor saw...(and a lot of patience)

Trimmed off the tab that inserts into the gunner figure`s back and filled the void with sheet styrene on the radio direction finder shelf. I used a transistor and scrap wire to make the radio and loop antennae...

Rich the F9 looks great. Seems you made the gear part work!  Its all about the 'fun' of building anyway right?  But that aside its still a great looking model!

Stik-- the figs look great!

I went to the Detroit Area Auto Modellers show today and scored some great deals on planes, tanks and figs...including a 1/48 Monogram B-17G complete for $8!  The other 'Mafia' models were a 1/48 Zero, AH1 Cobra, the Space Taxi and a bagged kit of a Bi-plane that I have not sat down and figured what it is yet,,no instructions on that one,, but all with the B-17 for $20!  So I'm ready for the 2nd Mafia build!

Yeah, that health stuff bites.  I am just glad you are still in the game...

Wow! Those figures are awesome...I can never get mine to look that good. I got that Ruskie pilot somewhere....got him from the Sabre/Mig kit.

Today was a simple task before work this afternoon... add a layer of birdshot to weight down the noses of my F-86 and F9F.

Unfortunately that's as close up as my new camera can get without turning into a big blur.  My old camera was better but it died and I couldn't afford another one as good.

The box says it's 24cm in length, a quick google tells me that is about 9.4 inches. The box also says it is in 1/48 scale but 1/40 would be more like it. I am told it has something to do with this mig having been boxed together with an F86 in the past and that monogram wanted the fighters to be of equal size. An F86 looks alot chunkier than a mig if you put em next to each other.

Started # 3...SBD Dauntless. Cockpit is non-existent so I will be scratching up some detail. Seperated the canopy sections with a razor saw and been digging through the spares box for a couple of seats and other stuff to spruce `er up. I`ll have some WIP pics soon.
