Hans I meant no offense and took none, I too was being a bit of a smart allic  in my comment, to bad no one could see the snickering going on at my end. I think thats the tough part of text communication because its easy to read things out of context at times, you cant hear the voice or see a face.  I too can not be even remotely accused of being PC, and I live in California Stick out tongue I think some would like me not to live here. Surprise  Just seemed a funny comeback to me. My mistake was not using the Clown face at the end.

And you are right me thinks Hans, Miss Owl can hold her own.

Ok got the scariest part of the F-15 done tonight, at least I found it the worst part pf the build. Got the nose cone glued in place finally, and best of all its on straight Smile and panel lines are in the right place. I will post pictures tomorrow evening.

And on another note - how could anyone hate a beautful thing like the Mustang?!  Indifferent

If you are on a tight budget like I am, get your kits on eBay.  1/48 and even some 1/32 kits can be gotten for a really small amount of cash.  I just scored an ESCI 1/48 F-104 for $4 and $3 to ship...  New and still sealed old stock.

nice i cant do anything when i comes to cockpits!

well i make 1:72 scaled models so there isn't to much detail i can do there.

i cant afford the larger ones and they are all over $34 AUD

even for a mustang (they are my worst favourite aircraft not sure why but i hate them) i am looking forward to seeing this one.

In the Hangar: 1/48 Hobby Boss F/A-18D RAAF Hornet,

On the Tarmac:  F4U-1D RNZAF Corsair 1/48 Scale.

Just for the record, I wasn't being "pro-PC", V-man.... I was just flat being a smart-azz, and thought it was funnier quoting you out of context....

No one who knows me would EVER accuse me of Political Correctness, lol...   I think "political correctness" is pure BS and that it makes people liars...  "And", to quote the Master, "if you disagree with me, you're a racist homophobe and worse than Hitler."...

(Yeah, I'm a Greg-a-logue fan)

Also, I wasn't trying to defend you either, Owl.. You don't need it...Toast

lol, guys, lol.

I took no offense at all. I looked at the post within context.

and Thank you very much for the comments on the IP panel. Bow Down  Considering all the people who see my models in real life have no idea what they are talking about, getting compliments from those who do really means lot to me!

Got my triple Wild Turkey Manhattan ordered just before the bell. And I have one more, but it won't be official. A total strip down and rebuild of a P-61, sat on a shelf collecting dust for ten years until summuns fat and clumsy brother-in-law dropped it.

HobbyTown and HobbyLobby are both chain stores that carry Revell-Monogram, as do the arts-and-craft stores Michael's and AC Moore.

He lives in Australia, Baron...

CallSignOwl girl I like your Hog Yeah So much so that I have taken the liberty of adding it to my album, hope you dont mind. Big Smile

you have an album? And added my kit?  Wow, I'm honored, sir!  Toast  I don't mind at all.

I finished up the cockpit assembly and painting. Have I mentioned that cockpits are my favorite parts of a build? A little dry brushing and a wash helped bring out details. The only thing I needed to do to fit the TD seat in was to shave off a [  shaped area on the cockpit floor that Monograms seat lined up with. Other than that, it slipped right in.  A drop of Future on the gauges simulates glass.

and here it is all bucked up into the two fuselage sides.

I have to agree with Hammer.  What's your local store?  They've got to have new kits, at least, even if the store isn't a classic mom-and-pop hobby shop that might have a stash of old kits.

HobbyTown and HobbyLobby are both chain stores that carry Revell-Monogram, as do the arts-and-craft stores Michael's and AC Moore.  At the latter two, you'll find at the very least the P-51D, the P-61, the P-40B, the P-38, the F4U-4 and the AT-6 Texan, plus the Huey, which are all orginally Monogram moldings.  They also carry car kits, but I'm not as well-versed in those, to be able to say which were original Monogram kits, without looking them up, except for any of the Tom Daniel custom cars (eg, the Red Baron hot rod).  And AC Moore has started carrying the new issues of the old 1/32 armor kits, too.

HobbyTown will those aircraft kits that I mentioned, as well as the large bomber kits.

Also, if you use eBay, run a search on Monogram kits, and you'll find a ton of them up at any given time.

Hope that helps, it's a shame if you can't participate!

Lots of great builds going on here Eats and I can see my album growing a bunch more. Its nice to see the interest in the Monogram kits by such talented builders.

Don Hammer me thinks you will be running round 2 as I think this group is going to be very successful indeed. Oh and Owl I give kudos to, as she is pretty gutsy  pickin on "The Don" like she does LOL

haha, verry funny Hammer! You totally got me on that one!

As for Red, he lives in Australia, which I I just found out... Didn't know that until I read a post from him in DoogATX's GB thread... That might be the main issue, when Monogram kits are imports, lol..

Fill out those damn profiles, folks! Well... at least add a location so we don't waste time explaining how to get a kit or paint or whatever, and then find out y'all aren't even the same hemisphere...

And I think one of the reasons RRB cant get Monogram at his LHS is the same reason my LHS doesn't stock Airfix kits.

I glued the cowl together on the f11-,c and the spats and wheels together on the  P-6e, so that makes four started.

Updating now, B-Man... Looking forward to seeing your stuff as I haven't built those kits since they were on the shelf at the drugstore back in around 1968... Right next to the .19-cent 1/4 oz bottles of Testor's and Practa 'Namel...

Unheard of, in my experience...

I guess I may have to see what the owner/manager is thinking and help him see his way clear to increase his inventory of manufacturers... Am I to understand that he stocks NO 1/48 Revell aircrraft kits that are ex-Monogram kits? 1/24 cars? Ships? Armor? Sci-Fi?  I find it difficult to believe that there isn't a single Monogram/Ex-Monogram kit in the entire store, in any genre...  Too bad you missed this one Red... Woulda been both fun and helpful for you...

It would be.. unfortunate, were something to happen to that place...   We'll just have to make him an offer he can't refuse...

But, all is not lost.. You can get plenty of Monogram kits on-line, both in on-line shops, and Ebay... In fact, I get most of my Monogram stuff via Ebay.. so don't give up hope.. If this build turns out to be a successful one, it WILL happen again, and you can take your shot then... Meanwhile, start praticing your scratch-building ideas... The easiest scratch-built part to make is a radio antenna, both the suspended-type, and whip antennas... Well, technically, it's "Thermo-forming", which also sounds better than "Sprue Stretching", lol..

From there, you can easily move to slightly more difficult tasks, making  seats, instrument panels, intake gates, vanes and screens, etc... The sky's the limit... I HIGHLY recommend that you try and find a copy of How to Build Dioramas by Shapard Paine.  Shep built the absolutely incredible dioramas for Monogram, using theor kits and many of their figures too,  back in the 70s.  You can view some of his incredible work here:

http://sheperdpaine.atspace.com/index.htm

And:

http://sheperdpaine.com/monogram/index.htm

Untill you are able to get a copy of the book,  you'll find many useful tips & tricks there, in the diorama tip sheets that used to come with the models ranging from scratch-building to figure conversion & painting, washes, dry-brushng, resin/plaster parts-casting, vacuum-forming, etc., and each sheet has tips that, while being in a armor dio, carry over into the other genres as well..

Before I got the book, I used the tip sheets every build (even if the build I was on wasn't a Monogram kit), and that's what started me on the path to becoming what I'd call a "serious" modeler (for lack of a better term) and "Gizmologist/Imagineer"... Print those tip sheets out if you can, too...

IMNSHO, Shep's book is the "Modeler's Bible"... Thousands of modelers my age got their start because of Shep's work for Monogram, and that's the time-frame, when I was about your age,13 and just kept going... The firecrackers finally were relegated back to only being used for Independence Day and New Year's Eve... Started winning awards at competions too, with my first 2nd Place win, along about a year later in 1973, lol..... Wink  Bought the book first edition) in 1977, I think...

I don't have it anymore, but I do have a copy of the Second Edition I bought a couple years ago to replace it, and still use it... Why attempt to commit all that stuff to memory when a book is better anyway...  There are used copies of both editions on the 'net, at AmazonDOT com, and at  also at Barnes & Noble DOT com as well as "our" own Kalmbach Publishing here at FSM... But the used copies are a lot cheaper, lol... (Sorry Aaron/Matt/Mark/Megan, et al ...  It's nothin' personal, ya know... It's just business...

I gotta help the kid save a few bucks in order for him to be able to... *snap*  buy a subcription to FSM... Yeah, that's it... That'l work.... A subscription...) Again, It's just business, not personal...

Sure Kermit... Must be one helluva deep pile carpet.. Yeah, you got six months from the start-date of the first build you start, or the 31st of March, whichever comes first... In your case, six months from the day you started your F-82..

Now, for the favor.. One Monogram MiG-15...There.. It is done..  Your favor has happily been taken care of... You know the rest...

Don Hammerloni,

As i told you guys already the B25 is a no go as i seemed to have misplaced a complete fuselage half to the carpetmonster somehow (Tongue Tied dont ask...still wondering myself)... I am also a bit tight this month so my second build should be something  from my stash...

Could you, if i may be so bold as to request this big favor, put me down for the Monogram 1/48 black box Mig15? Picked it up at the online LHS for only 9.95 but it's a great kit to build. Bit outdated but still looking good when finished

You have six months to complete both builds from the day you started build one right?
