Tal Afar Dave
Don Hammerini,
I am a late comer to this post, and am not really sure what a group build consists of.......may I be so bold as to request an under the wire admittance to this prestigious undertaking? Just started getting back into the hobby after a long hiatus, and had started a few of my older Monogram kits. These are the kits I just started working on: F/A 18 C "Blue Angels," F/A 18 C "Chippy Ho" (missing directions.....any suggestions?) and possibly the P39 Aircobra or the most recent pop of the P38.
Just got on the boards tonight and found this group build; thought it would be a great way to get back into the swing of things and relearn the lost art of model building.
Many Thanks,
Dave W.
Welcome to the build and to the forums, Dave! Boy, did YOU ever pick a way to pop a Group Build Cherry! Anyway, Group Builds are simply what they appear to be.. A group of modelers that are building kits with a common theme or standard, with a start date and end date for the completion of the kit(s)... When you get done (or just joining up sometimes) you can then put the group build badge into your signature and let the whole world know that you don't get out much and have a lot of time on your hands, lol...
Just pick your kits and declare, I'll put you on the roster on page one, and you goit si months to finish up a minimum of TWO Monogram kits... Make sure you check with someone though, if you ain't sure if your kit choice is kosher for the build..
This one has some limitations, such as having to be Monogram kits that were first released prior to the Monogram/Revell merger in 1986... A lot of Revell kits are eligable though, since they only changed the boxes and not the kits... But then, many aren't, as you can see from my last post...
Anyway, as long as you declare your intent and get it in by midnight, you're good to go, and that's what you got... So if there are any issues, we'll talk through them.. You're in...
Dunno about the Hornets, but they have to be pre-merger, meaning that they had to be Monogram kits with a copyright date of 1985 or earlier... One of the jet guys can sound off about it...
I'll put you down for the P-39 and P-38J though... If you want to do four kits, I'll just give you a double "TBA" slot for now...
