I have Revell's 1/48 F4 "Mig killer" kit somewhere, paid all of $5 for it but have never been able to talk myself into painting it with the USN colours... I may have found a winner!

Good Luck!

Hi folks.  Well I thought I would start a new Group Build for something a bit different from the norm.  The Wild Wings group build.

The basic idea is to take any WWII or later aircraft and give it markings totally different from what it would normally have.  The wilder the better.  We so often get so carried away with authenticity and accuracy that I think we sometimes let our artistic sides suffer.  Anything goes for markings and paint scheme.  Here are the rules

1.  I am removing the WWII or earlier restriction due to popular demand.  LOL.

2.  The markings must be at least 50% custom.  In other words, not too many OTS (Off The Shelf) decals.  The idea is to see how creative we can get, not the guy who designed the decal.  So some decals are OK, but for the primary wild paint scheme, we want it to be completely the work of the modeler's brain.

3.  Special Lighting and/or AM add ons are allowed as long as they are wild.. lol

Let me know what you want to build as far as kit selection and I'll add you to the list.

The build will start 4/1/11.  The deadline for entries is 11/30/11.  Voting will run from 12/1/11 until 12/14/11, final announcement of winner will be on 12/31/11.

I am also looking for a disinterested third party to tabulate the votes when all of the kits are complete.

The prize is simple.  The modeler with the Wildest build will receive....

1.  BRAGGING RIGHTS!

2.  A SENSE OF PRIDE!

3.  A REALLY SPIFFY SPECIAL BADGE THAT HE OR SHE ALONE MAY USE!

all other entries will have their own participation badge.  I will be designing these in time for the 4/1/11 start date.  The badge may be put in  your sig as soon as you begin your entry.

Good Luck!

Rich

Addendum 3-18-2011

Okay folks.  Now it's time for what all of you have been waiting for.  I finished designing our official participation badge for the build.  I am going to put up a couple of them.  One is the full size graphic so you can size it to your needs.  The others are 200 pixels wide and 500 pixels wide.  So choose the one that best suits you.  You can put them on your sigs now providing you have let me know what kit, scale, and brand you will be building.

For now relax and prepare to GET WILD!
