Awww... why thank you LOL. Well i did go out yesterday and got me some blue colored cardboard for the picture taking. It seems to work sofar

Like i said, next up was the engine.. It took me a couple of days but she is finally done and weathered with some tamyia weathering powders, wash and drybrush:

And while i was waiting for things to dry i worked on the engine firewall and gastank (or is it an oil tank?) too:

Great kit sofar. It really reminds me of the hobbyboss kits in 1/48 scale. Same engineering and breakdown of parts. This one is just bigger and more detailed

Next step would be the cockpit sidewalls, PE on the rudder, tailwheel assembly and the big closing it all up part Hope you like my work sofar...

Hey Doogs from further study of your supplied photos (again, thanks) Ive painted the exhaust shrouds the correct blue nose colour of Meyers ride.. yeah he never had them anything other than his blue. The edges Ive weathered a bit of natural flat alloy in these pictures.

 Once the engine covers (also in blue), are in place hopefully should look decent enough. Fingers crossed.

I have finally gotten around to posting some WIP pics.

I started by preshading with humbrol acrylic 33 (black) and then sprayed the NMF on with Tamiya AS-12. I dont know Went wrong but the underlying preshading appears to make the NMF shinier and lighter in the spots of the preshading in proportion to the tone of the rest of the plane. But that's only when the light is shining on the plane itself.

ill be painting on some invasion stripes soon,  and then I can work on the landing gear, air brakes etc.

Thank you sir! The camera i use is the Nikon L-100. Pretty much fully automatic but with a good, wide angle lense, good macro function and lots of neat functions like a food setting. It lets me add blue or red as needed in certain light conditions. The blue cardboard photobooth does help with catching the detail in the pictures.

Sofar i painted and added the bags and controls and weathered with a black wash...a white drybrush and just now a burnt umber wash. Not sure yet if i am happy with the umber. The early war planes were maintained quite well ya know.... I dunno... i just like em dirty

What do you boys think? Tone down? Keep as is?

I for one dont really like 'clean as off the factory floor' aircraft, tidy but worn is always a winnar... with me anyway.

Baron: Kinda hard to tell since your photos are a little fuzzy but she looks pretty good to me. So the NM on the pre-shading is more shiney than the rest of the paint job? If the Tamiya is anything like Alclad the gloss black undercoat will make the NM more shiney. If you used flat/matte black I'm not not sure whats going on .

Richard: Looks good to me, just a little grime there can't hurt. Heavy wear and tear would probably be out but the little dirt you added certainly isn't out of place.

Got the gear wells on my B-29 painted . The bad part is one gear well was left out of a wing when it was glued together. No I didnt glue the wings together got it like that off evil bay. Just found that problem a few days ago so now I have to think of a way to wiggle that bay into the wing No WIP pictures as of yet had to paint the nose gear well before doing the office that is on top of the well.

Got my 'stangs bay 95% done. Must rant again at how accarate this kits wells are, its a joy!

The pipes at the front have a walled section that goes on there I have not attached yet as it would hide a bit of the detail in the photo. I know theres a few 1/32 Mustangs around but reading the raves, all the write-ups say the Tamiya's have the hard to resemble wheel bays down pac, can see why!

Yeah Furyan's build has my mouth watering too sweet kit for sure. But my wallet found out what I was thinking and it took off to places unknown. BTW I do like the blue nose markings you have chosen Furyan

Thanks Vett, yeah that blue is the blend in which Tamiya recommend for Meyers P51 blue nosers. Three parts of flat blue and one of sky blue mixed.

Not much of an update... Just been filling and sanding the fuselage. No real gaps just minor stuff. The headrest area however needs some attention as you can see:

Because of the sheer amount of complexity and fiddliness in the Airfix Sea Harrier 1/24 I'm building at the moment, I've decided to start my last kit for this GB. The Harrier has long periods of down time while I wait for stuff to cue and dry. This beautifully detailed little Trumpeter 1/72 kit will make a welcome diversion.

Thanks! I used alclad. Airframe aluminum, duraluminum, aluminum and a few sections of dark aluminum. Stainless steel on the underside turbo lines.

It's easy to forget WIP when swapping between a 1/24 and 1/72 project!

I wouldn't normally pay over $30 for a 1/72 kit unless it's something special and that's exactly what this little Trumpeter kit is!

Detail is lovely, despite the decals for the cockpit. Fit's together like a Tamiya kit and the moldings are crisp and nice.

Cockpit, airbrake, engine in place. Notice the aileron detail on the wings. The wings are made up of 6 components each. As I said exceptional detail for a 1/72 offering.

Cockpit shots. This is pretty much OOB except for some PE harnesses I had spare.

i think its time for a big update. although i havent posted ive been very busy.. there are seams galore and i doubt ive ever sanded so much in my life, but i think I'm getting close to first coat of paint just one more sand session to clean up the scratches. I also had to rescribe all the panel lines for i could not stop sanding them down to nothing well anyways here it is

after a full day of sanding and using stretched sprue to fill in seams along the wing, not perfect but bearable for the time

after the rear fusalage and a new color you can see the lack of panel lines

after more sanding

and that brings me up to speed with panels rescribed and the thought of an actual paint coat being applied

Kermit closed up already huh, well it sure is moving along for sure. Love that engine and especially the firewall and engine mount, they are gonna look real sweet mounted on the nose of that bird leme tell ya.

Col Gray you sure are making quick work on that F-80, looks like all that extra work is gonna pay off as the build is looking really good so far.

Furyan each time I see your Mustang my mouth gets to watering and my wallet goes into hiding, I am really diggin your build.

Life has been in the way big time on all 3 of my builds so haven't gotten much done at all I have the feeling I am going to have to force things so I can have time to build again. Sure has been a lousy year so far.

Finally got the gun pits of the 'stang done.                                                                                             Believe it or not these 50's took me 3 nights to get only to this point, lots of photo etch parts.. this photos pretty naff, not much to see but feels good to back into it a bit more.

Masking done, I love it when a canopy fits together! YAY Trumpeter! I can't praise the engineering of this kit enough.

Some little bit of puttying required on the wing roots and a little on the fuselage.
