ok guys, i would like to build my first diorama for the gun and tractor, but i never did one before, and i would like to keep it simple.. Can anyonegive me some advice???

I am in my first build, and first diorama for the build. other than that I have not built a model in 30 years and NEVER weathered one so....

As for suggestions easiest to get would be something in the German flavor, easiest Diorama? , maybe North Africa scene less complicated scene and colors.

I am thinking of a four howitzers in fighting position or [more likely] a German halftrack towing a gun being ambushed by some Americans

I can't believe both my LHS's don't have a thing for artillery, not even a Pak 40! Angry [:(!] So far, I'm having fun tracking down something and the prices were higher than I expected. Perhaps, I will rebuild a new Tamiya 88mm. My is a bit dated and it was once a premier gun of WW II. Yup, got to build a gun. Big Smile [:D]

Hey, lookin' good so far.

Is that kit the CMK 1/35th scale 3.7cm Flak 43? If so, how was it as a build-up? Never built a CMK kit before.

Mark and Moe, welcome! It's gonna be great to see all those guns getting built and painted. Remember that start times are for those who don't want to start right away, and end times are just a little gentle pressure for the procrastinators -- like me! Tongue [:P] If you finish tomorrow (or February 2005), post pics so we can enjoy. I'm going to try to post some pics soon myself. I'm worried though because the pics I take always come out much, much worse than any of the pics I see here.

If the CMK Flak 43 kit is the same as the Flak 43 they provieded with their Mobelwagen conversion, then it's not worth it. Save the pain and build the Italeri Flak 43.

Just my 2 cents.

How is the one that comes with the Tamiya Mobilwagen? Is it available as a separate kit?

Do you guys know if Italeri's Demag halftrack with nebelwerfer is any good?

I was thinking about using this for my build, along with a couple more Italeri nebelwerfers and some figures.

Question #2 Are there any figures out there that can be used for nebelwerfer crewmen

Thanks in advance,

The Flak 43 that came with Tamiya's Mobilwagen (kit 35237) is very good. I don't believe Tamiya ever released the Flak 43 as a seperate kit.

Actually Tamiya released the 37mmm Flak by itself some many moons ago. I noticed it is not in their current catalogue.

I think Nebelwerfers and Panzerwerfers were crewed by normal artillery men.

With that in mind, Tamiya make a set called "German Tank Ammo-loading crew" (35188) which look to me to be ideal for Nebelwerfer loading. Aside from them, just about everyone makes an artillery crew set, (DML, Italeri, etc.) of some sort, not to mention the premium resin stuff. Verlinden also make extra rounds for the nebelwerfer.

Plenty of options, luckily!

I have a revel of germany demag and the italeri one with the flak 38 plus I also have the neb.......erfer, they are good builds and the tracks are semi individual so it makes the tracks a bit easier to finnish. The neb...erfer kit has some extra rounds that come with it but it doesnt hurt to have more, all you'd need is a good crew set up and you'd be good to go.

look back on page 4 of this topic and you'll see my italeri one with the flak 38's.

That was the Flak 37, if I recall correctly.

M1abrams, I also posted a pic, so typo or not, it should be fairly clear what I was referring to.

Ditto

The more Nebelwerfers the better. Still hoping someone does one in 1/16.

For those of you who are planning on building a Nebelwerfer, here's a nice image I nicked off the net -- a Nebelwerfer 42. Very nice view of weapon details (hopefully all still authentic).

That IMO is a good thing! I've got an idea or two in mind, but I've got to get my ducks in a row. (I may even do a 1/72nd scale project! [:0])

D'OH! Tongue [:P]

I'm thinking of doing a 1/72 FAMO hauling a 21cm Matterhorn. Anyone seen reviews of the Planet models 1/72nd scale stuff? Both kits would be by Planet -- unless Revell AG does a 1/72 FAMO ... ?

sorry, its just that everything around here has to do with farming and farm equipment, so when i saw it, I knew that it wasn't chambers.

hmmm..... what a broad subject. i'll have to wait a until its closer to the start date before I see if I come up with anything that interests me.

The Squadron shop is good:

http://www.squadron.com

So is R&J Products:

http://www.rjproducts.com

I just made a special order for two items from greatmodels.com. I haven't gotten the pieces yet, so I'm not sure how the company is. I can tell you this much: I've asked them twice now in e-mails to confirm that I'll be getting a certain item from a shipment they are expecting from a manufacturer, and they have not responded to either one. I'm such a prima donna, I hate being ignored! Tongue [:P]

If an item is in-stock at Greatmodels, I have received it in 10-14 days. I also like www.rollmodels.com. Sometimes they are faster and a little less expensive.
