Thanks Taxtp I just need to work out how to pm?

I think I will go for a set of these plus buy a set of roundels and fin flashes from Hannants in the UK (along with a set of Swastikas), the exchange rate is quite kind at the moment.

Thanks for all the offers of help guys.

No luck with Decals, did look whilst I was away and bought some for my avenger build.

I hope to get across to my favourite model shop this weekend. Can i get back to you guys early next week?

Cheers

You can get this sheet for AUD$6.00 plus postage from Australia, but you'll still need some fuselage roundels.

PM me for details if you want or I can buy them and send them to you.

Cheers

2 NZ spits and 4 Aussie spits. Not sure if you could get away with them on a MK.1A but its not too badly priced. Ived used them before and theyre fantastic to use.

Jafa, if you mean the decals for the most recent tooling of the Mk 1, DW-K, I have the complete sheet minus the instrument panel which I used.  If you want it, please let me know, either here or by PM.

The spit was a gift from my daughter (she bought it at the BoB museum in London).

If i could find some decals around $15 - $20NZD I would buy them.

I will also have a look at a couple more hobby shops and see what turns up.

I still have the wing roundels so its the fuselage roundel and markings that I need to find.

Thanks for the offer too,

How much did you pay for the spit? (Im guessing around $12-$15)

Unfortunately i don't think you'll find much cheaper. However ill have a look through my spares boxes tonight and see if i have any RAF markings floating around.

after a 6 month hiatus (after I lost my modelling space to a pair of tropical fish tanks), a bathroom renovation and several other little "issues", I have finally got to the stage of completing the Mk1A spitfire.

All looked quite promising right up to the decal stage when the first fuselage decals disintegrated before they hit the plane. So I thought I would ask here, does anyone know where I can buy MK1A Spitfire decals in 1:72 scale? prefferably reasonably cheaply? I have seen a couple of european dealers with them but the cost is greater than the kit!!!

Meanwhile I have started on the BV141 and am at the paint stage, still deciding how to mask the canopy, some of the framing is non existant so that makes it harder. I have a "true Frames" sheet with a large amount of blank space so I am considering painting it the appropriate colour and then cutting into thin strips and framing the canopy that way, any thoughts on this idea?

The Hurricane and control Tower are on hold at the moment with lack of details issues but I am working on a BF110 which is also at the paint stage.

Hopefully by September I will have the Spit, BF110 and BV141 completed and may even have done the Hurricane.

Excellent work on an old kit Hercmech. I'd say you smashed it to pieces. It's great to see these old things being built so well.

Looking at the front page, the 1/72 Spitfire  1a is the most popular completion so far with 3.

Cheers

Thanks  Scorpiomikey ...thanks for hosting this and getting me interested in building an Airfix kit again. I tried my best to do some justice to an old mold.
