The Stuka is looking kinda sinister hercmech, just the way it should. Go on, get it done, should be worth seeing.

Cheers

Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

Lookin' good HercMech! I need to sit down I finish masking my He177 cockpit. I seem to have been stricken with a case of 90%-itis. All I need to do is add the glass, guns & gear.

99% complete syndrome Whistling

Again better Herc Toast

Thanks fellas!

More pictures...I am really happy with the way the paint came out. This is before any clear or flat coats.

I did post shade but I wanted it to be subtle and it is hard to see.

Just got too excited and put the prop on already.  LOL

Here are some pictures of the preshade. Also in the headon picture you can see the Q-Tip "guns. (Thanks Hans von Hammer)

I am slacking I know...I have the Stuka all primed and now preshaded. I will get some pictures soon and post them up. Embarrassed

I also figured out the prop spinner stripe. I have a metal template that has a crescent shape on it. I used it to cut out two cruved pieces of tape that wraped around the spinner pretty well. I guess the real test will be when I take it off and see what I got.

After my Macchi I'm building the BV141, then I've got a few more group builds then I might be able to squeeze in a AR-196

Go hard RBR. Build goes till September. Just under 4 more months to go. If there's enough people still interested i might make a take 2. Make it an annual thing.

 Hercmech:

Got the Stuka all primed...one issue I am having is figuring out how to make a good mask on the prop spinner stip.

I know I have to cut a 1mm circle stip but it is so small. I am thinking about taking a used 10mm and a 9mm shell and shapen them and use them as a punch set to get a 1mm circle peice of tape that I can wrap around the spinner.  What are your thoughts?

Could work.

Saw an article describing chucking a used case in a drill press and "punching " holes in a stack of papers for insertion in a binder.

Hm..this could start a whole new thread:

" How have John Moses Browning, Sam Colt and Georg J. Luger helped you in model building?"

I'd give it a shot....Whistling

Spinner stripe? One that goes all the way around once, not a spiral right? Your shell-punch idea is just cray enough it might work, just not sure what will happen when you try to stretch your "flat" tape down the side of the spinner. Certainly worth a try.

Yeah it has a white stripe just behind the red nose of the spinner. The rear spinner is green. I tried to use a straight piece of 1mm tape, as you can imagine it would not lay flat and was wonky on the spinner. I will give the shell punch a try and seee what I get.

If all else fails I will use the circle templet methoed to get the strip on it

I remember the 'Disco Duck" decals and most regrettably , the song.....good grief!!  What was Airfix thinking of when they included the extra groovy decals???  Probably the same thing that Hasbro was thinking when they took an American icon, "G.I. Joe- America's Fighting Man," out of active combat duty and put him on the "AT" also known as The Adventure Team.........such a strange moment in time for everyone..........

Hey Vance, the mottling on your Grief looks awesome!

Hope to get started on my project soon....I only have an entire house in need of flooring and a kitchen and two bathrooms in need of tile work......I can hear my kits calling for me........Crying  Soon........

2022 New Year's Resolution:  Enter 1 group build and COMPLETE a build this year!!  Why Photobucket did you rob me of my one Group Build Badge???  Must be part of the strong anti-Monogram cartel!!!

Ouch - bad luck on the foot Paul. A little bench time with a larger Spitfire should help that!

Hercmech - paint on the Stuka soon? Can't wait.

As for me, too busy to sit down & concentrate on finishing the Greif. I can however guarantee that I will NOT be going for a Disco Greif anytime soon!

Ouch, that sucks about the foot.

Ill list your spit on the front page for you. Your the second 24 scale aircraft, but the first 24 scale spit (Lots of 72's)

Build goes till September,  give or take depending on when people finish up. So plenty of time. Im tempted to get one of the 24 scale birds myself, but i got nowhere to put it.

Good luck and keep us posted on how your doing.

OK, put me down for the 1:24 Spitfire. I think the new kits are much better as the oldies. Only I'm not sure when I'll finish it, but I'll keep you posted. Has this kit been build here before?

For the 3-bladed prop, I think that is the one. I have to look in the box, but since I broke my foot 2 days ago I cannot reach to that box. It's on the highest shelf...

The breaking of the foot may helped my decision to put the cat in the bin. In the morning a 12 liter steel Scuba dive bottle fel on my foot, a few hours later...

Cheers! Paul

On the bench: 1:350 Yamato + I-400, 1:48 F15 strike eagle...

 VanceCrozier:

 checkmateking02:

Those stylized birds--they are "disco duck?"

lol, yes, they were very likely Disco Ducks!

LOL........

AIRFIX and MPC issued a lot of Disco Duck decals with their 1/72 aircraft during the 1970s.

http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/ae287/sprue_cegoose/pix/th_Kalashnikitty.jpg

Decalling was free & loose in the '70s baby!!!

Think I'm setting up for some fiddly-work this weekend. Need to mask the "fishbowl glazing" on the Heinkel, then start adding guns/turrets/undercarriage. (And hopefully get the cockpit closed up inside the fuselage of the Flanker I'm working on...)
