PANZERBOB01 - Have not opened my initial production Kleiner yet so have not yet drooled on the sprue's yet.  If it was to be built with the cupola, it does come with the kit, would it then be appropriate for this GB or are there other issues also?  You mention the road wheels and idler rings are they missing?

CARL - Think thats a nice looking badge, like the colors and the fact that the big three are all represented.

 Shellback:

Ok Bill and Tread , thanks for the feedback . I dont know if the Blitz (color=red)IN(/color) France would add any clarity Tread . I'll wait and see what Eric has to say about the badge . In the mean time i'm going to make a few changes ...............love this stuff .Yes

Bill , i use the "paint" program on my Windows 7 . Beer

I don't wear badges, so I don't have a vote. But do give a little thought to those of us who might Whistling have the screen up during work and might have the boss looking over our shoulders...

Just thinking out loud and don't get all anti-PC on me.

You know that i dont know what you want me to know that you know ........................???????????Stick out tongue

Oh sure, put it all on me Carl....Wink

Very creative and it pops with color too.

I still would like to see Modeler#1 when he can figure out what went wrong and Rob if he has an update. We can then take a vote when they are all completed. Smile

Nice job Shell.. the only thing I would change is the addition of  the word 'IN' ... I would put it in very small letters between 'Blitz'  and "France'

How'd you do that?

Thanks tread! Good question on the diesel supply issue...one of many supply issues that plagued the German anytime they used captured gear. Diesel probably wasn't that hard to come by but would have been a "special" need for whatever unit was equipped with these for sure.

Here's a rough draft . Can add lettering if you guys like the idea or it can be changed . Was thinking of Blitz France in large yellow letters against a black background in the blank area at the top . I wanted it easy to read when reduced to a badge size .what do you think ?

I feel for you guys who are itching to start, I really do. Instead of Calamine I'm using a healthy dose of KV-amine. Big Smile

Well Bill, you've taken what would normally look like a beautifully raggedy piece of Soviet machinery and turned it into what looks like the newest piece of the Wehrmacht ready to kick @$$ all over Europe.

Your camo job totally changes  the way the KV is perceived and it came out really well.YesYes

Here is a thought... I wonder how hard it was to keep this guy supplied with diesel considering the rest of the German Army ran on regular gas?....

great job man!

I thought we were talking about the badge?

We still haven't come up with anything official yet. If you have photoshop skills, feel free to submit something.

Sounds good Bob. You can wash the sprues if you'd like. That really has nothing to do with construction.

I'm a ready to start building boys. Feels like a long time since I've done any heavy duty cutting of sprues.

Less then 10 days!

Eric;

Yes. I'm thinking of that new Pz.II Ausf. B kit with the interior.  THAT type was certainly in the Blitz! And it should appear there wearing 1/3 "signalbraun" on 2/3 dunkelgrau (or very similar).  I have this new II kit on my stack right now - still in wrapper, so I can't say anything more about it than that it looks good from the box details!  I have read that it's pretty good kit and I look forward to cracking it open come the 18th!  OK. I MIGHT peel the wrapper off and peek in at those baggies... touch a couple, handle the "goodies card", look at the decals. I won't cut any sprue baggies until the 18th. Honest!Big Smile

Leastwise, that's my current plan, now much reinforced by my finding no evidence for that initially-planned for Initial KlPzBefWg IB in this theatre.

@ Panzerwaffe and all other "Kleiner" (PanzerBefehlsWagen IB Sd.Kfz. 265) fans concerned with the Blitzkrieg to the West in 1940...

Hi! I, too, am a "Kleiner" fan, and had also considered doing that oh-so-cool new Dragon "Initial Production" kit for this campaign. But... I'm afraid not Crying.  Why?  Because it is likely that the Initial version - those few made early-on in 1935-6 without the commander's cupola - did not serve at war in France in 1940.

Even as I had hot flashes and lurid dreams (yeah, I know...) of a nice, dusty brown-on-gray paint scheme on this cute, if homely-looking, little beastie, I suffered one of those moments where we modelers pause and consider doing some research before we leap in with both hands.  So I did.  Looked through all sorts of Concord, Tankograd, Squadron and other "tank" pubs looking for pics of the KlPzBefWg at war in France... pawed heavily on the Web.  Saw, well, lots of pics.

ALL "Blitz-era" pics showed the "later production" vehicles with that cupola.  The only (many) pics showing the flat-top early configuration were of vehicles in pre-war testing, training, and maneuvers.  NO "bona fide" Blitz-era pics of these.

From this, and the apparent claims that only the "early few" came without cupolas, I must suggest that the Initial was NOT in the Blitz.  I would dearly love to be wrong, and hope that someone will leap up and post a pic "proving" otherwise, but....  Good Luck and may the stubborn-most "win"!  It also has occurred to me that possibly all of those early vehicles were retrofitted ca 1939 with cupolas...  no evidence for this, but the lack of post - '39 flat-top pics leaves me with this notion, and it would make sense to update with this feature folks thought was a better idea....

So, I have sadly put my "Initial" back up on the stack - to be built for a coming "between the wars" campaign (where I can get to do it wearing that nice "Buntfarbenanstrich" scheme current in 1936-7)! I suppose that I'll be doing the new Dragon Pz. II kit for this instead...

PS: Look on the bright side, Kleiners!  There WERE plenty of the "later production" vehicles used in France. The Dragon 3 in 1 kit (6220?) is pretty nice.

Oh, and IF you do have that new Initial kit - it IS nice... but Dragon shorted us all on the road-wheels and their little brass rings.  So just get on-line to DragonCare and they'll pretty cheerfully fix you up! They did me, and 'm certes not special!Stick out tongue
