Dave,

Since I'm feline kinda catty, put me down for the Hobby Boss Rafale B in Tiger Meet markings, divine scale of course.  Heard from Richie, he's had some family issues and a move but he's doing fine.  Now where's that scoundrel Frank?

Dupes:  Looking forward to the raider.  I always liked the look of those.  I will doing my build early as well but probably not until Tuesday.

Warjunkie:  Is that Mustang 1/48 scale?

Dostacos:  Same question, what scale?

Buddy:  Tiger markings in a 48 hour build?  You are looking for a challenge aren't you.  Yes, where is Frank?  Doesn't he have a V2 to build.  Clown

I'm pretty sure that Frank left for good. He hasn't post here in almost 5 months. I know he's OK since he posts over at LSP

I'm not leaving until Sunday now so I will be around for the first part of the weekend.  I will likely start my build Thursday instead of tomorrow.  Propeller

At the risk of incurring the Wrath of Mannstein, put me down as a "probable". I've got several simple options in the stash that I could probably run out in a weekend. In no particular order...

  • 1/72 Airfix Hawker Hunter (with zero cockpit detail, thick glass & bad undercarriage - an ideal candidate for a painted-canopy pole-sitter)
  • 1/72 Airfix Saab J35 Draken that will be receiving "what-if" markings
  • 1/72 Heller AMD Ouragan

On the bench: Airfix 1/72 Wildcat; Airfix 1/72 Vampire T11; Airfix 1/72 Fouga Magister

But Razordws I am about 5 weeks too slow a builder for this group, takes me 2 days just to get the box opened up. Embarrassed Sure do look forward to watching though, had a blast watching last year.

Vette I get most of my boxes open before I even get home. But then so many of the kits sit for years in my stash.... so these Weekend Madness builds are the cure for a not too fancy build in good fun. Jump in with something simple and have some fun!

Yup, 1/48. Why the hell not? I have three in the stash, may as well bang one out.

Last time I went to the LHS, with John Eaton, we went out for a beer, I opened my Tornado kit and promptly lost the clear canopy under the table. Found it tho...

I'm kind of stuck because I have to go out of town Thursday night, home Saturday, then gone Monday to Philadelphia, not back till late Tuesday, then Turkey Day and relatives. MAYBE Friday night the 25th because Ms. and Miss Bondo are going to the opera. 'n fact come to think- perfect!

Why not do all three?

....I have to try to squeeze in my wife's birthday this weekend as well. Luckily she's in denial about the exact # of years, so we're not doing anything crazy. So one kit I think I can do. Three.... probably not safe!

I think I'm going for the Hunter. I sniffed the plastic last night and have confirmed that I don't want to bother with the undercarriage or cockpit, therefore a perfect option here. I also just finished off a Hawker Harrier, (and have several Hurricanes) so I can do some comparison of the Hawker "lineage" afterwards.

I suppose the 49ers are my adopted home team since I cant stand the Raiders and don't feel anything one way or another about the Chargers.

Hi Stik and all:

I'm going to try this GB - a 1/144th scale Minicraft Lockheed Electra in the PSA 'Catch our Smile' colors and markings ... I used to fly this very airplane and love it still today ... that's if I can get the colors mixed correctly ...

Otherwise, a 1/48 Testor's Bearcat ... probably in Naval Reserve markings ...

Stik - the chargers ? - at least you can go to a game and not killed in the stands or parking lot like in Oakland ... being a native San Diegan, the Chargers are my team (for as much as I follow the NFL) ...

OK, guys ... I'm in and rarin' to go ...

Hey razor!  Can I join the GB?  I've been tempted on the previous WM GBs but never had a free weekend during the previous timeframes.  This year I finally have absolutely no plans (crossing fingers!) and would love to participate.

One of the reasons I want to join is I'm getting burnt out on superdetailing and also building kits with so many flaws to correct that it takes weeks, if not months, to complete!  I feel a strong need to step away from that for a weekend and just build a kit OOB, slap some paint on, decal it and call it DONE!

Let me know......Smile

OK OK - I'm officially in with my Hawker Hunter. Airfix's classic black-plastic 1/72 kit. I may have to stop short of the finish line depending on how the OOB decals behave, but assembly & painting will be done.

I used to like those PSA birds! I remember them quite well and fondly! But the Bearcat sounds like a perfect weekend build too!

Like I said, I do not like the Raiders- as a team I never cared for them when Mr Davis brought them to and later left L.A. The fan base?  I equate them with most of the criminals I deal with on a daily basis on patrol. I have booked more Raiders hats into prisoner property than I can count. Just part of the 'thug life' mentality in my experience. But the Chargers never did anything for me. Yes, they are closer to my home than SF, but if its SF vs SD, I'm rooting for the 9ers...Wink

Is anybody gonna build an Eduard 'Weekend Edition' kit?
