Thats what the gap under the chair is for. If not for feetsies what for?

Makes perfect sense- I stand corrected Wink

Yeah, I rest my feet on the chair's roller-style legs.......

all the room under the table is taken up with paint supplies and kits......

All the room under the regular chair is kits........

the closet......kits.......

under the other desk.....kits....

above the desk.....kits....

behind the door....kits....

If I put my foot down by accident, I squash a Tamiya 1/25 Tiger I....lol......

uhhhhh.....who needs feet exactly?.........lol.....they get in the way!Wink

I was very impressed with Rich's ancient multi-layered work-bench before he moved.....

To say it was messy is like criticizing the Carboniferous Periods. I like to think of

it as the Styreniferous Period.

You don't get time and styrene built up into strata like that overnight.......

I think they had helicopter tours of his building canyon,

and rumor has it........Whispermule teams of tourists went in........an' never come out!Whisper...lol....

Rich:

Np at all. Found this set too, $25.00 is a bit much but if you do lots of Soviet/Russian Federation fighters it might be worth it:

Thanks for the info.  I must have had a brain fart or something because I completely forgot about sprue Brothers.  Now I just need to see exactly what each set has in them.  Thanks again.

Mike: Ok the bench is clean but where do you put your feet? Stick out tongue

Ken: Cool technique - thanks!

Rich: These are a little over twelve bucks but they look pretty cool. Never used the brand but one does have a cool shark mouth.

Have you decided how you are going to load it out yet?

Ken

Im thinking a single centreline bomb since it was a local strafing run that brought her down (the real aircraft)

In saying that the kiwis did some funny stuff with their corsairs.

Example.

Centreline tank with a smaller tank either side. Frequently the outer tanks were replaced with bombs.

But thats a bit much effort lol.

Hi folks.  It's been a weird week, well actually all year up til now.  I am still working on an official badge, but right now, my main system is out of action so I won't be able to complete it until I get it up and running.  Repair parts are on their way, so it should be back up by next weekend.

I decided to do something different for this build, so I decided to do a Russian MIG 29UB fighter in 1/48 scale.  Well, I got the kit which was supposed to have Russian and German markings, but didn't have the Russian markings after all.  I have been trying to find an affordable set of MIG 29 Russian markings, but the few sets I have found are out of my budget range for decals.  If I don't find a set soon, I may need to do an S30, SU35, or SU27 kit instead because I don't have any of the needed paint for a German fighter.  If anyone has a good source for affordable (Under $12) 1/48 Russian MIG 29 decals, preferably for the Academy kit, please let me know.   Thanks.

I will probably at least start the MIG in the next couple of days on the chance that I do get some decals before it's finished.  We are living at my Mother in Law's house for the time being, so I only have a bit of room, and so construction is slowed down quite a bit anyways.

I hope this build is a big success, and I am sure that Berny would have liked knowing that he is not forgotten.

Hi Everyone,

I am still working on that belt.  I need to add the "L" shaped metal piece shown in the picture here as number "8":

As you can see I need to paint the small bit of etched area inside of the "L".  So I will use a method I have learned from another website mixed with my own techniques where I will paint the area and let it dry completely.  Next I will use a glazing spreader wrapped with a very fine cotton cloth dipped in mineral spirits to remove the enamel from the un-etched metal leaving the paint in the etched areas.  It works really nice on photo-etched instrument panels where you have two different colors you want to use, but it will work for this application just fine for one color.

Here is a picture after I painted the green:

The only bad thing is enamel takes a couple of days to dry completely but the results is really cool.

Small update. White paint is to check seams. Still trying to decide on a paint scheme. Ive got a choice of 2. Overall dark sea blue (how they were painted after their first rotation back to NZ) or 3 tone navy camo (How they were delivered)

You can see ive added to the weathering on the prop.

Hi Scorpiomikey,

That Corsair is coming along very nice.  Looking real good!  Yes

I am addicted to the Military Channel and the Military History Channel and I have seen several episodes talking about the Corsair.  The Japanese hated them!  A lot of fire power, engine power, and agility.  Have you decided how you are going to load it out yet?

SoMM Ken:

Great work on the seats, hope the GG works out for you. It may not be quite as strong as superglue but it always worked pretty well for me.

And congrads on the giant Skyraider- wish I got birthday gifts like that!

Hi Cliff,

I checked out the toughness of the glue and it seems to be holding up quite well.  Thank you again for recommending it.  I really appreciate it.  And thank you for the compliments!  Yes, I am very grateful for being lucky enough to receive gifts like the Skyraider for my birthday.  It is pretty cool.

 Son Of Medicine Man:

Greetings everyone,

Well tonight I finally did some work on my build.  I glued that one belt that I have been twisting on with that "Gator Grip" that Cliff recommended.  I will say that it did grab the metal belt pretty good when first pressed into place.  I will let it dry overnight and then try working with it some more tomorrow.  I still need to cut it down and figured with how well the glue is supposed to hold, I would do it after it is in place so I cut it more accurately.  Since I have not posted a picture of what I have done for a few nights I went ahead and snapped one.  Here it is as of tonight:

Ken;

Here I was, gettin' all proud an' bragging about scratchin' out some J-79 intake fans, and all the while, you've been scratching out a replica of the Roosevelt dime while you wait for the paints a' dryin on that seat!

Not sure why 1973 was so important to ya', but heck, nice work!Wink

Oh yeah, that seat looks great Ken, I noticed you got the spiral on the yellow paint on the ejection handle, well done!

Hi Dom,

I swear you know how to make me laugh every time!  Big Smile  Too funny!

And thank you for the compliments!

Greetings everyone,

Well my birthday was spent baby sitting a Chihuahua (in addition to our own).  We have baby sat this dog since it was a puppy and it is a very sweet dog.  We treat it much the same way as a grandchild (we do not have any yet).  So I was unable to work on my build yesterday and today.  My wife is working today (she normally does not work on Saturday).  My best friend came over last night to celebrate my birthday with me so that finished the evening off.  So it was a nice day.

I did receive a very nice birthday gift!  It hasn't arrived yet but here is a picure of it:

So it was a very nice birthday!

Hey Cliff, that Gator Grip showed up today.  I will be trying it out later today when my wife gets home to take over baby sitting.

Well, another Friday night, and another solar Tsunami,

the aluminum foil on my head has a few extra melt spots.......Dunce

I managed to double up the turbine blades.

Mind you, this month's FSM has a guy who re-did the intake fan on a Pegasus engine for a Harrier, in aluminum, no less. -nice work........

Ahem, this is a workin' man's styrene exhaust turbine.......to Revell specs.....lol.......not blue-print......:

Chi Hua Hua! i posted the rest of the uglies on the Itchin' For Scratch thread.

Now I can finally assemble and paint the J-79's.....

The outer perimeter nasties will be covered by a blast ring.......

or at least that's the theory.....

I'll try and make some progress on the assembly and painting soon.....

The turkey feather actuators are going to be even more nasty.......Surprise

Hi Dom,

Very nice work!  Your skills as an artist are showing through!  Well done.  Yes

SoMM Ken: Great, the cockpit sounds great. And yeah, thankfully this is the gun-nose Havoc and not the greenhouse nose so I have lots of places to load lead fishing sinkers in there.

BC: Those look great!

Hi Everyone,

Tonight I painted the belt that I twisted on last night.  Not much to really take a picture of by itself so I am not going to bother with.  But I am pleased with how it turned out.  I am going to let it dry over night.  When I have it in place I will take a picture and show it off.  I will check in with everyone tomorrow.

SoMM Ken,

Great! Looking forward to photos. Finished the cockpit of the A-20 - normally I'd take some pictures but hopefully I'll be able to get some photos later when it's inside the aircraft.

Hi Cliff,

Thank you for the compliments.  You are really moving along on your Havoc!  Are you going to have to plan on putting in some nose weight to keep it sitting on the front wheel?
