Misery loves company Dom so welcome to the party! BTW I have one pic to include. The longitudinal seams on the fuselage and the wing to fuselage join are worse than I previously thought. This was before putting the wings on but believe me, it's not a pretty sight.  Nothing that a little putty and liquid primer won't fix but being that this is going to be metal finished I have a feeling it won't  be too pretty. I'll load it up and sand as best as possible then lay down some surface primer and hope for the best.

Looks good, Mike! Good luck on your seam work. BTW, what's that round hole toward the tail? This is a MIG, right?

Hi Russ,

Each state has its own codes and ours does not require you to have a license to install gas appliances.  I used to do this kind of work years ago when I worked for my grandfather's plumbing and heating business.  I have installed many gas lines and furnaces and know the state codes.  I have already tested the gas line for leaks (something that the gas company does not even do before turning on the gas!).

Dom: Nice looking starship, I'd love to see you finish her. Interesting warp nacelles, I saw a small gaming model done up as the USS Goesnowhere (Goes Nowhere) at a show years ago. The guy put one nacelle on forward and one backward, when you hit a button the ship would spin in place!

Ken: You bought your wife a STOVE for Christmas!?! I'm a single guy but even I know buying 'She Who Must Be Obeyed' a stove, vacuum cleaner, iron, is a good way to get walloped...

Hi Everyone,

Another weekend spent outside instead of inside at the workbench.  Our electric glass top stove had broken earlier this year and we have been stuck with only two burners.  With Thanksgiving coming up I couldn't put it off any longer.  We had natural gas ran to our house also earlier this year, so I wanted to make the switch from an electric stove to a gas stove.  But that required me running a gas line from one end of our house to the other where the kitchen is.  And 90% of it was outside.  I just got finished and I am wore out.  I still need to run 120 volt AC but that should be fairly easy since I have an outlet just on the other side of the wall.

So tomorrow evening I will be running the electric, then Tuesday evening we will go shopping for the stove.  She (my wife) gets to pick it out.  I am going to also try to install it Tuesday night to make sure it works okay before Thursday.  It will make my life a lot easier around here when I get it done!

Even if power goes out, you can still cook. BTW, If you're going to install the stove yourself, you should have the gas company hook it up because if something happens and the stove wasn't installed by a licensed gas contractor, you may have trouble with your insurance company. Also, some city codes forbid unlicensed connections. Check with your insurance company and your city codes.

For the life of me, I don't remember posting these phots.  I finished the MiG 17 and the MiG 21.  Here are the finished models that are now flying with my F-4C from last year.  They are nothing spectacular, but they look pretty good from about 20 feet away...maybe a little closer.

Hey Jim, good to see you back again. The models look good! Really interesting camoflage pattern on the MIG-17. Is that supposed to hide it in a measles outbreak? (J/K ).

We had ours today, a huge 7 pound chicken, and a corn and veg medley, and baked potatoes,

gravy from the bird, 3 glasses of beer for me,,,,, stuffed better than the bird right now.

Almost time for a left-over sandwich......I think that depth-charge still has some nitro in it...lol...

It's the same-old same-old, they got everyone up here hooked on universal healthcare, and they've been aggressively cutting back coverage, line item by line item,,,,, they wouldn't pay for a life-saving operation for my mom.

it's just the way politicians think. Promise that carrot, then whack you with the stick.

All I can suggest, is that a quality primer, like the Tamiya Primer you have in your pic, is your new best friend. I'm not sure what grit that is, or if it is good for filling small surface defects. I like a Tamiya or Mr. Surfacer around 500-1000 grit primer, with 1000 grit chase, and maybe an AlClad Black lacquer with a 2-3000 grit chase.

Primer is the great democratic equalizer in the styrene world, so once you get a good primer on, and use that 8000 grit as Russ suggested, only kidding, 4000 is fine, then Joe is Your Uncle, err, Uncle Joe was a bastfink. You may want to watch your recessed panel lines during the prime-and-polish phase, as you may need a scratch re-scribe before your final NMF coats.

I say be prepared to prime, sand, repeat, as many times as time and desire allow. The other caveat is that real aircraft were never perfect looking either. Krike, after 20 years of service, the cruddy washrooms at the airbases had better paint jobs that the old aircraft....lol

that was about 40 hours worth, and he wanted to finish it. He was happy like a kid when I delivered it, but I never got paid for the time, yes I was a sucker. I wish I still had it....

I can't see myself re-doing it. Mind you, I had the saucer planned out as a pretty cool battle cruiser, maybe I should just finish it....in 2018.....

Tomorrow, I'm going to dry fit the F-4P ducts, and as per plan, they should end up as a component I can plug onto the fuselage. If any one has any experience painting the inside of duct structures or tubes, let me know. Most folks only paint the outside of small objects, so let me know.

i am wondering if I should modify the turbine posts, or leave them stock. Stock is ugly, but as you car buffs know, it is not about 'better' if it is stock.
