Well, I managed to find some affordable decals for the MIG 29.  I snagged a set of Ivans Eagles decals From EagleStrike decals.

So the MIG is now back in the race.  Good thing too.  I opened the SU35 kit to discover that all of the instructions were in Chinese.  No English whatsoever.  If   anyone has the Trumpeteer SU35/37 kit... (below)

Could you please consider making me a scan of your instructions?  It's not the most graphically descriptive instructions I have seen, and I have no clue on colors for it. lol

Greetings everyone,

Tonight I used my technique on the photo-etch.  I will explain with pictures.  First I take a glazing spreader like the one in this picture:

Then I take a piece of tightly woven cotton cloth like a handkerchief, soak a small portion of it with mineral spirits, then wrap that soaked area around the glazing spreader and hold it tight like in this picture:

Next I go over the photo-etch while it is laying flat on a smooth surface with the glazing spreader very carefully watching how much paint I am removing with each pass.  This will remove the paint from the high area and leave the paint in the low "etched" area.  Here is a picture of the final result:

This techique also works real nice on a two color paint instrument panel photo-etch but is a little more complicated because it also involves using acrylic paint.  If you want to see that technique let me know and I can find where I posted it in the F-4 Phantom build.

Hi Dom,

No, that is 100% cotton, but a very fine close thread count.  I would be afraid of using a material like nylon or polyester because it may actually melt when it comes in contact with the mineral spirits.  But I may be wrong.  I would test it first to be sure.

I did get to attend my local IPMS chapter monthly meeting Friday night.  I really enjoy going to those.  (I may have mentioned that once or twice!)  A really great bunch of guys.

My old art associate is dying of metatsticized cancer..she's toast and in total denial..

My friend Geroge, a WWII artillery spotter, is in hospital in his 93rd year..

and his son is writing him off..didn't call me to let me know..

he probabley won't get out..

my other pal's dad just died..direct deposit..ouch..

and i 'owe' the gov for deemed disposal...enough about me....

I think there are lots of guys here going through this,

thank goodness for the kits......

I added the last upper belt to the second ejection seat.  I went a little further on this one and added the small retaining belt.  It was a pain but it adds a little more detail.  I will have to touch up with some paint when it dries.  This seat overall has turned out better than the other, so if there is one that is more prominent than the other that is where this one will go.

Thank you for the compliment.  I am using a very large, lighted magnifying glass along with a full assortment of Xuron stainless steel tweezers and a lot of patience!
