Thanks for posting that link!  That was quite an interesting read.  I never knew that the B-52 was such a complicated aircraft to fly.  That makes me think about that pilot that pulled those amazing maneuvers in a B-52 that had the unfortunate accident.  He really was an incredible pilot!

I know from experience crawling around inside it that there were hundreds of systems and subsystems in virtually every cubby hole and corner. It's truly amazing that everything worked most of the time and that the beast could actually get off the ground and get the job done . It was then, and still is, a flying warehouse and has to be treated accordingly.

If you are interested in a 1/72 plastic mold injected C-123 there is a kit by Mach 2.  The price is high and the kit will require all of your skills to fix the problems with it.  There is a vendor on eBay selling the kits for $65.00 plus $10.00 shipping (at least to where I live):

My stash has been almost non-existant since I got back into model building so I decided to beef it up, at least with the remaining 1/72  Vietnam era planes I worked on. Today, I received a Hasegawa A-7A Corsair II, Hasegawa F-4E Phantom II and a Trumpeter F-105G Wild Weasel (The F-4 and F-105 will represent the many different models of these planes I worked on).  I also plan to order a vacuform C-123 Provider from Robert's Combat Models. Finally, I need to find a 1/72 C-130, preferrably an MC-130 Combat Talon model.These should keep me busy well into the next century .

OOohhh, i need to get me an F-105. Always been fascinated with that aircraft. Those forward swept intakes look so cool.

Yeah big congrads Rich! Funny I'd assumed it was 1/72nd till I saw the 1/32 label at the top- now that's a good deal. The F/A-18 isn't that big a plane but in 1/32nd she's gonna be huge!

Guys, I think I just made the eBay score of the month.  I sold some older computer components, so I had a little to get a kit with after feeding the Wifey monster with most of the proceeds, so I was looking to pick up a cheap F104 or something..  Then I saw this.....

I bid it to a max of $16.03, and got it for just under $16..  I know it's not the most accurate kit since it's the pre-production model, but it looks like it's going to be fun to build.  I'm thinking of trying to find some Blue Angel markings for it.  I think the decals it comes with make it look more like a toy.  They don't have a lot of detail.  I'm not sure if I am going to bother with rescribing the panel lines.  My hands are a bit too shaky to risk ruining it.  I may have to get some aftermarket landing gear for it.  The few places that have a review for it say they are kind of weak for the model's weight.  We'll see.  I was going to try and find some RAAF or RNZAF markings for it, but they are way too pricey on top of the kit.  I can hardly wait to get ahold of it.

Now that is funny!!    You don't know how close to being true that came!  I thought about it!  But I stuck to only doing the stack that was on the workbench.  I'll leave the rest of them for another time!

That would be great Scorpio.  Most of the ones I found in 1/32 were like $15, and almost as much to ship. lol  Hmmm, I just realized that my other 1/48 scale F-18 had Kiwi Markings..  I could probably scale those up to 1/32 if I scan them at high enough resolution....  Now I just have to find some white decal sheets. lol.

I made more progress on clearing off the workbench this evening.  I cataloged a stack of aircraft books and put away some other odds and ends.  I guess I just under estimated how much there was on that bench and how long it was going to take.  But I am going keep at it until it is done!

Dom was just on this weekend, so it hasn't been that long. You're right in that it seems like weeks since Jim has been around though.

I was always of the opinion that a messy workbench is a happy workbench.  I think mine died of laughing from being so happy.....

We should do a "Workbench Wreck" build.  It could be fun.   Have each of thr members pull down the worst they have in semi complete kits, and try to save them.  The only Caveat being that the workbench needs to be kept at or near total chaos for the duration of the build. lmao

My workbench is very nearly cleared off.  I ran into a very large stack of decals which I have wanted to sort and file for quite some time.  So I spent a majority of the day doing just that.  It did mean adding another day to getting the workbench cleared off but having the decals sorted was worth it!  Maybe tomorrow night I will have my workbench finished?

I came across some aerial refueling pictures that show I had the EWO hatch represented incorrectly as a scribed outline. In actuality, the EWO hatch had a cover similar to the entrance hatch (see the picture below).  I filled in the scribing and modelled the hatch and I will also add the guide marks above the cockpit ahead of the refueling probe, as shown in the second photo.
