Son Of Medicine Man

Hi Everyone!

I apologize for not being very responsive the last couple of weeks.  I have been really busy.  I got a new computer so I have been setting it up and transferring my data to it.  Plus my Mom had an episode and went to the emergency room.  I also had a few projects that I had to get done for my Mom.  I have her house and my house to take care of so that keeps me busy.

Russ:  I finally got a chance to take a look at your project build.  It looks great!

Ken

No problem, Ken. Family and real life chores come first. Sorry to hear about your mom. Is she ok now?

Good on you with your new computer - what kind did you get or are you building it yourself?

Thanks for looking in on my project, and for the good words. Always appreciated Smile.

Cheers,

Russ

Hi Russ,

My Mom came home after they did a few tests.  Then she went to her regular doctor and he did more tests.  They still have not figured out what is wrong.  She is going back next week.  I am afraid it is her cancer coming back but she does not think it is.

The computer is from where I work.  One of my perks for working there is that I get to purchase it when it gets replaced.  But because of my position it is a very high powered system, so even though it is a couple of years old, it is still a very high end system today.

Ken: I hope all will be well for your mom, and all the best dealing with the double duty.

Jim: Thanks for the great photos!Stick out tongue

Mikey: Looking good on that control panel!Yes

Rich: What with your Brit F-4, your love of V-Bombers, and now all this ANZAC hardware, are you getting a new accent?Smile

Russ: Maybe it was a mistake on my part to help you get your Diorama Thread going, you are hardly drinking at the local bar anymore!Big Smile

Hey Mikey;

I didn't hear if you entered her in that contest you were thinking about,

did you, and if so, how'd she do?

umm...sure that was me? I was gifting this to my partners grandpa who served as a generator mechanic on bougainville around the same time that aircraft was posted there.

Negatory, Night Rider!  I just don't have much to report in the way of progress on the aircraft itself. I've been trying to catch up on some of the peripheral equipment and those I only post about in the diorama thread so it won't clutter up this one.

Currently, I'm building the bomb bay door locking devices to hold the doors in the load position. I hope to have them finished in a few days if the creek don't rise Big Smile.

Only the software that was purchased originally with the computer.  But another perk is I can purchase software at a much reduced price.

LOL......no pressure.......Looking forward to that Russ;

Were the upper doors and lower doors both open on loading, and did they

hold the doors away from the fuselage?

hold the doors away from the fuselage?

Yup - and sorta.Below are a couple of photos of how they looked. The upper door was folded up and back almost against the fuselage. Near as I can tell, the locking mechanism was a "Z"-shaped device that attached to the upper door, one at each end, and to the fuselage. A piston-like bar held the lower door up and out.

Sorry to hear about your Mom Ken.  I hope she feels better soon.  Keep us posted.

Dom, yeh, I really need to get that FGR.2 finished.  It's sitting three feet away from me beckoning to be complete... lol   I love doing non-US birds sometimes.  Some of them have some great color schemes and markings.  At one point I was going to trry and start collecting Tiger-Meet aircraft, but that idea never got out of the hangar. lol

The Big Revell Corsair is finished, painted and decaled.  I had to use my spare decel sheet for it.  The original one disintegrated when it got wet.  Well it was 40 years old after all.  I killed my last can of glosscoat on it, but it came out fairly well, all things considered.  Now I just have 1 or 2 more to finish up before I strat the build kits.  My F5 Aggressor which I am going to find some better decals for to do in NMF, and my Sabre, which only needs decals and clear coat.

Just don't "upgrade" to Windows 8.  From everything I have seen and read on it so far, it's going tto be another Microsoft "Bob".  That Metro interface is the ugliest, clunkiest thing I have ever seen.  It's really stupid to try and make the much larger and higher resolution of a full size PC display, duplicate the look and feel of a 7" tablet display.  I'll be sticking with 7 until they don't support it anymore.  8 is going to be a big flop I think.  You would have thought that they would have learned their lesson after Windows Mliienium, to listen to their customers...

Back on topic now

More F5 work today, now that the exhausts paint has dried.

Thanks for that Russ, I like the subtlety of those crater eggs just peaking out over the edge of moma's nest.....so they used heavier bombs in the BB, they look like different Mk. I really need to get up to speed on the BUFF's load outs. I think I should start finishing the bombs, heavy artillery always gets my adrenilin up.

By the way, 'creek rising'??, I didn't think you were anywhere near the Mississippi.Hmm

The same thing happened to my decals for my big 1/400 Enterprise, they were 30 years old when I bought them 10 years ago. Even though I sprayed the decal fill on them, that is the experimental piece, they still fragged.

It is as if they need to explode, it isn't a passive process at all.

Maybe I need to find them, good luck on that , and scan.

Well, this is turning out to be one helluva year: just got off the phone with a friend of mine. His mom is in the ICU and it may be that she has liver cancer. It doesn't look too good.

On the bright side, I also found out that the tyrant I work with has been let go. Seems she suffered from brown bottle flu once too often. Couldn't make it to work the Friday before Labor day as she got picked up for a DUI and was in detox... I can't feel sorry about that as she did it to herself.

Hey Jim, sometimes the bottle is a cover for something else, yes she did it to herself, but what did someone else do to her to send her there?

Every living being suffers at some point, at those points they deserve our sympathy, no matter how horrible they have been to you in the past.

I dont mean to bring you down Jim, but instead of saying she deserves it, maybe ask, why is it happening to her?

I'm not saying the woman deserved what happened, I'm saying that she is an adult and and made the decision to go out "clubbing" and drink and drive. She often would be hung over at work, and her moods often reflected this. She constantly called in sick for various reasons, often having some sort of "24 hour" disease that somehow went away.

As far as working with her, how would anybody like to have a co-worker who always talked down to you as if you were a bit of dirt beneath her, and constantly went to management to report every error you make, when she  would make more that enough herself. Nobody liked her and one person quit because of her. I believe she was on a campaign to be rid of me at one point and was overheard telling somebody she preferred younger people to work for her as "old" people don't work hard. (At 54, I am the oldest person on the crew.)

The person who quit told me he believed in Karma. I wonder what he thinks now....

We follow the Threefold Law.  What you send out, will come back to you threefold, whether good, or bad.

Kind of like, Multiple Karma.

She may have had a reason to drink, but then again, she may have just been a total Beeotch who had it coming.  We may never know.

Well, I try to love my neighbor as myself but some people are easier to love from a distance...Angel

Know what you mean, had bosses and co-workers that were control freaks, narcissistics, and just plain mean. I hope they have good luck with their lives and things work out for them but thank God I don't have to work with them anymore....

Not necessarily heavier in the BB, Dom. They often flew with 500lb bombs in the bomb bay and 750 lb bombs on the pylons. The clips in this photo look like 750 pounders and those are 500 pounders on the pylons. Actually, they used many different combinations. The BB could have 500lb or 750lb bomb clips and either of these weight bombs could be used on the pylons. But we also flew missions with 250 lb bombs on the pylons. It all depended on the objective and also if there were enough of a particular size bomb available.

The Multiple Karma theory is troubling.

There's a saying that "no good deed goes unpunished" - three times?

You pay it forward, then the smack-downs start?....lol
