Whoa Ho, Very nicely done Greg. Those look great. You must be gifted with very steady hands. I struggle to get small PE part on straight.

SchattenSpartan Those flaps are actually able to open and close, jsut like cowl flaps (see my earlier post), but simply not mounted on the cowling but further back

Ahah! That's a neat thing to know. Thanks, mate!
Thanks for commenting, Bish and Clemens.
Just occurred to me that on the twins I used to fly, they were called cowl flaps, and I could open and close them. So since these are just aft of the engine cowling, guess they would be either cowl flaps or exhaust flaps. No idea if they were operable, but guessing they were fixed position.
At any rate they were fun to install after getting the hang of it.
Nice job on getting those flaps installed, Greg! I'm pretty sure they are cooling flaps like on the Thunderbolt, just a different configuration... I'll tell you about the order as soon as it arrives here, but it's gonna take a while (coming form the States all the way to Austria).
Joe: I'd have stopped bidding as well. Some people have just way too much money to spend on things like those books... Having good references is great, but it sure as hell aint worth a price like that to me...
That's real nice work there Greg. Those flaps look real nice.
I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

This is no big deal to all you experts, but I just figured out out to get the PE exhaust flaps or whatever they are called installed, am happy and wanted to share.
You can click on image for higher rez.
I'd guess you were bidding against a collector or two. I'd have stopped bidding too, Joe.
Clemens, would you let us know how things go with The Plane Detective order and also with the Scale Master decals if you think about it? IMO you made the wise choice trying the Scale Master decals.
JOE RIX Welp, The Aero Detail Corsair book on ebay sold for $79.50!!! Some bloke out there was to wantin' it more than I that be for sure. Sigh, back to the waiting game.

Blackdog, if your paste button is greyed out, usually means your clipboard is empty. So my guess is the image didn't copy correctly from your image hosting site. I can't remember which you use?
And yep, I"m still on that Eduard kit. Good memory, BD.
Heya blackdog gimme a shout on my email buddy. I'll be glad to post em for you in the meantime.
thanks greg are you still on the Edward kit ? ill try I didn't forget after all. the prob now is my paste button is grey and non responding I was doing right just another isue
I went brain dead and forgot Clemens is late too. That makes a total of 4 of us, I think.
......bowing to our patient host, Mustang Joe.......
Well I ordered them anyway. The website I got em from is called "Rare Plane Detective" and they offer some really nice gems at pretty fair prices. I saw an Accurate Miniatures SBD-5 on there for only 27$ and I had to have it (the only USN aircraft that was really missing in my stash), so I simply ordered the decals together with it. The cheapest reboxing (Italeri) of this kit at Hannants costs 36£ (61$) and the original AM boxing is 45£ (76&) so I'm calling this a pretty good deal
We are actually 3 guys being late, mate. I'm still here and still plugging away at my 190s... Progress is slow though because I have to do everything multiple times with a lot of the 190s being Eduard kits...
Never heard of Scale Master, Clemens. Maybe you should post a general question somewhere so it gets more attention. Not a lot of folks hanging around here waiting on us late builders.
Hey BlackDog, there are two more of us late that Mustang is being patient with, so don't worry. Sounds like you'll finish before me.
We'd be happy to walk you through the pic posting again if you want. We are very patient.
1. Post pic on hosting site, like photobucket or Flikr or something.
2. Copy the direct link from your hosting site
3. In your reply here, click "Use rich formatting", when the cursor is where you want your pic to go, click the little computer screen up top of the rich format reply box, paste what you copied, press 'insert'.
4. Done.
can anyone correct this....photoshop clic on photo then clic direct.
go to fine scale click ...use rich format then right pic icon from second bar then which way do I go.?

well I just learned to post pics when everthing went south looks like forgot how to post pics sry :(
Do you guys know anything about a company called "Scale Master"? I found the old Monogram B-24J on ebay for a good price and I'd like to build her as "The dragon and his tail". I know superscale did a set of decals for that bird years ago, but those decals are impossible to get hold of. I did however find a set made by Scale Master. The only problem with said Decals is that I know nothing about the company and can't find any reviews on the net either. Any input on them would be great.
I maybe could get me some custom decals printed, but I don't know anyone that offers such a service (especially for the complex kind of sheet I'm looking for) so any info regarding that could help me out too...
In case you don''t know the aircraft I'm talking about:
Thanks for the info Clemens and Bish. Interesting.
I had a brief look at the IWM when I was in London and I was kinda disappointed TBH. It sure is a nice museum, but the RAF museum and Duxford are much more to my liking...
Greg, as SS says, the aircraft is the Sally B. It has carried the belle's nose art on the right side for many years. She is the last surviving airworthy B-17 in Europe. She has been based at Duxford for as long as I can remember, very fitting given the role of the B-17 in East Anglia in WW2. Now all we need is a B-24 to go with her.
After seeing Spartan's pics, I have decided to finally make a visit there myself. I have ben saying I will go for a few years. But next weekend my other half is away with her horsey friends for the weekend, so hopefully I will be going down to Hendon and then onto the IWM in London which has just had a major make over.
Here ya go, Joe:

Corsair:
Nope it isnt. That B-17 (a -G) is "Sally B". She wears the Memphis Belle noseart on one side and Sally B on the other (she was converted to an -F to display the Belle in the according movie)
Those are great, Clemens. Thanks! I agree, a general posting somewhere would make these avail to more folk.
I have a dumb question.... is that the real, restored Memphis Belle??
PS, that 'Google Drive' looks rather handy, might have to check that out. Really like the format. Very clean and easy to navigate.
Sorry. It's just that..well..you know.. I get a little excitable when it comes to those particular aircraft. Thank You very much for taking the time and effort Clemens. I feel bad that my camera went south on me while at the museum in Everett, Wa. and that I was unable to get you a bunch more pics of the P-47. Especially while it was under going maintenance.
I KNEW you'd say that!
Both are being uploaded right now buddy. I didn't get as many pics of them as i got of the 262 and B-17 though because they are airworthy aircraft so no running around below them
LOL
Ooo, ooo, ooo! Hellcat and Corsair Pleeeaase!
