Happy New Year Everybody. Looks like some folks are off to some nice starts. Just got back yesterday from our week in Seattle for Xmas vacation so most of my time today is unpacking and getting back into the swing of things. May try and get some pre-game pics taken or even possibly dip the canopy in future just to say I started on Jan.1. My build is most likely going to be one of the late finishers as I need to finish 2 other GBs by end of April. But, I'll be here all the time to enjoy your builds. Model On!!

Nathan... Thanks for the tips on the books! I'm still reading Jg26, and am learning alot about the Top Guns of the Luftwaffe. Yup the project is going to be intersting to say the least. Like Doogs said, I'm going to likely cherry pick the PE and resin, and being its not made for this kit it will be a challange at best. Thats OK though... its what we do , right? (ha) Excited to see some builds begining... Take care... Doug

Got some sweet books over the holidays. Eric Mombeek is the luftwaffe king! Great refs with lots of rare photos and also a great story of the Jagdwaffe's struggle.
If you're in need of ref pics just let me know.
Nice work so far everyone! Doug you got a cool project ahead of you. Hey Joe, put me down for a Hasegawa A-4 and an A-8/R2, 1/48.
My bench is a bit crowded at the moment, but I committed to this bad boy a while ago, and a Tamiya F-8 should be a nice, relaxing build next to the other things competing for my time.
Here's the kit (and the Eduard Big Ed set):
Honestly the Big Ed goes a bit overboard - replacing the whole cockpit pan with PE for example, so I'll probably be cherry-picking. Looking forward to seeing if I can get the flaps to work, though!
As far as markings, I was going to steal from my Eduard Profipack F-8, until I came across this scheme on an Authentic Decals sheet:
On the Bench: 1/32 Trumpeter P-47 | 1/32 Hasegawa Bf 109G | 1/144 Eduard MiG-21MF x2
On Deck: 1/350 HMS Dreadnought
Blog/Completed Builds: doogsmodels.com
You probably need to be using the rich formatting option, I'd guess
Okay....why are only my img codes showing up without pic display? Is it a photobucket thing or a site thing?
Hutch
On the Bench: 1:48 HobbyBoss Ta152-C; 1:48 & 1:72 Hasegawa F-104G NATO Bavaria
In queue: 1:48 Academy F-4B & a TBD Eric Hartmann bird
Recently completed: 1:32 Trumpeter P-51B
Made some serious progress....pit was not that detailed, but that is okay as I am not doing a lot of detailing. I usually install the seat last, so I need to fix that up a bit and make belts. So far, this HB Ta152C is very nice.

Not sure which scheme I will ultimately use...one of these two:

Scootertrash- I've got you penciled in on the intro page now. Sorry it took so long. That looks familiar as I cut the same parts out last night and started right away on painting them.

Look at all those goodies Doug. Youre gonna have lots of fun pal. I stayed up extra late last night and got up a little early. Got the cockpit tub, seat and rear cockpit armor painted. Also started building the seat belts. Will post pics very soon.
By the way... the resin, PE and guns did not come with the kit. Those were all purchased various other vendors. The kit had been partially started and the "builder" had used tube glue and was not very careful with application. All parts that were glued have now been cut apart and are in the process of being cleaned and prepaired for re assy... Hey, I love a challange!
This is how I received the kit when purchased at a local yard sale... Wings will be cut apart to install resin at a future point of build
And we're off. Good start.
I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so
On the bench: Airfix 1/72nd Harrier GR.3/Fujimi 1/72nd Ju 87D-3
Here are my first cuts of the "Sprue"!
Happy New Year!
Well that's that. I hope everyone here is having a great new year...................now lets get to building!!!!
55 more minutes here. I'm gonna cut the cockpit flooring off of the sprue just to say I started right at the New Year!!!!!!!!!
hutchdh Can I start mine on your behalf? :)

Be my guest.
Sweet Doug! Talk about hard core. I got some movies with the missus to watch so I won't start til tomorrow. I got some sweet ref books that are making me change my scheme for my Sturmbock.
Happy New Year all!!! (in about 4hrs). I will be at at the bench shortly after the first cup of coffee kicks in! Cant wait to see the birds begin to develop, I will be posting the obligatory "sprue" shots shortly! Take care all...
Doug
robertgreen94 Are we accepting late entries. I also have a Eduard Royal Class box that needs to be started? I might freek out a few purists and do an A8 with the black white tiger stripes that someone pointed out was for an F8, just for fun.

Pretty sure you can make an F-8 out of the royal class boxing using the spare parts. Are you referring to these schemes?:
Yep, 33 mins past here. If only i was at my bench, i would snip off some plastic from my 190 just to say i had started.
Hey, it is New Years already on the other side of the world! :)
Well folks there's only one FRIGGIN day left until all the fun starts! I for one can't wait to get crankin on this build! Will see you guys on here shortly before the new years tomorrow night. Until then we have appr 27 hours and 30 minutes left!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For the last few years I've been trying to stay as realistic as possible, but what the hey... Sounds like a great Scheme to me! I've seen pictures of some pretty wild paint jobs that were field applied. I'm sure Mustang is happy to accept all entrys.
Doug (RR)
Thanks for the input Mike and Nathan. I'm taking notes down believe me. I've heard too many horror stories already about unwary Eduard kit builders! Thanks a mil, Joe
You have to make sure you're not squeezing the fuselage sides tight to the instrument panel coaming, which is its own part in the eduard kit. that part is made to narrow, but it doesn't matter as the windscreen sides fill the gap anyway. It takes a few of these Eduard kits to get used to their quirks, but after I built 2 or 3 of them, I can get through them with lightning speed, same as a Tamiygawa kit.
Wow, these tips and photos are going to be crazy helpful when build time comes. Thanks for taking the time to post them!!
