kinda of a dumb question.....when responding to a post, how do you reply with the original post attached to the new post?

Use the rich formatting link and the Quote button is below the post you want to use. Its not as easy as it was before the change over and took a bit of working out.

Hey Nathan, I was thinking of get the Big Ed from eduard. The lit comes with an engine which I plan to pose open. But does anyone make a more accurate one? Really want to make this one of my best models and put as much aftermarket and scratchbuilt detail in as possible.

Thanks for the links to the websites, I'm gonna check em out!

Thanks AndrewW too!

If you have any other suggestions please share!

No problem dude. I would have already printed mine out to slide under the clear acrylic plastic sheet I have covering my workbench but my stupid printer went out a few days ago. Jeez! If it's not one thing breaking its another. Oh well I need to find some gratitude with other good things before I find myself with a crying towel!

So anyways I just ordered two more reference books for this plane in addition to the Aero Detail book just got in the mail. You all seem to have a one up on me because I didn't know Jack Crap about a 190 before I decided to start this GB but I'm learnin'.

Bish

Seem like your son has the jump on the rest of us.

By the way, do we have a GB badge yet.

It seems like he got the jump alright. It was just too tempting. Regarding the GB badge. Check the 7th post of the first page out by Ninetalis.  We have our choice it seems.

My son got this last night at  Peter Piper pizza with the winnings of video game tickets. I didn't pay any attention to what he got at first and then he says, "Dad! It's an Fw 190!" I immediately got the idea to post this thing. Ha ha.

www.hannants.co.uk/.../CMK4048, hannants seems to have four of them.

Say...........thats a nice upgrade set!  The time one would spend on performing that upgrade would surely be worth the efforts.

wjt619- What are you looking for specifically? Sometimes Ebay has the best deals, sometimes not. Try Spruebrothers.com, or Squadron.com, which I think is having a sale this weekend. For more rarer pieces, try rollmodels.com

So this build doesn't start until January and there are already six pages and 83 posts? Yeah, I guess there was some interest in this one.

Yeah, gonna be tough to wait it out...We should have some inspirational posts, like pictures of past built butcher birds...anyone?

If anyone needs, I might have some spare 1/48 Hasegawa FW190 canopies in my collection... I can't recall if I have a bubble top or not.

I knew there was two different sorts of canopies, i just hadn't thought to check. I would probably have noticed once i start building. Luckily i have a Squadron canopy i think will fit. They do both the blown and early versions. The early one is 9135 and i think its correct for the MTO version, if you still want to do that one.

Alright, snagged a Squadron A canopy off ebay. We'll see how she fits upon arrival.

Doug - Thanks for the tips. Checked Roll Models but, no go on the PE set. Found another site that offered it but, alas it was discontinued.

Bish - Indeed, I would not have caught that at all had I not just read the section on the F-8 in my "Focke Wulf FW 190 in Action" Squadron book where it mentioned the installation of the blown canopy. This prompted me to take a look at the issue.

JOE RIX

Hi Ho Compadres, Here's a quick glimpse at what I'm gettin' into. Again the kit is 1/72. Just got the decals in the mail and noticed quickly a bit of an issue. Only certain options feature the "Blown " canopy which is what is supplied in the kit. This rules out the MTO version I was hoping to build unless I order up a vacuform standard canopy. There is one available on the  Falcon canopt set Luftwaffe #1 but that comes in set that includes numerous other aircraft canopies as sells for $26.00 at Squadron. Thus I'll be going with one of the "blown" versions unless I find another option. Regardless this is an awesome selection of F-8 schemes.

I am glad you noticed that, i hadn't. Think i better order up a proper canopy. I really must pay better attention to my kits.

Rigidrider

wjt619...

Get on Ebay and type your scale, Fw190 detail, (1/48 Fw190 detail) or whatever, and click search button. You will be surprized what may pop up. Loads of decals, resin and PE kits...you name it.

Doug (RR)

I copy that Doug. Been there a couple of times but wasn't looking for a canopy at the time. What I would like to find is Eduards PE set they apparently made for this kit. Must be OOP as I have searched rather extensively and have been unable to find it. Any possible leads would be helpful.

Joe - Absoluely love the scheme. Yet, I do believe if I attempted that in 1/72 scale gray matter may begin to pour out my ears.
